Well, I built this. Don't make fun of me, I'm already miserable.
I just can. not. do. this.

Crap is just too small for me. My hands cramp up - seriously - and I can't even hold the friggin' screwdriver by the time I've got a coil ready to tighten down.

Already tried twice before, but thought I'd give it one more, and bought an igo-W. Got some kanthal.
Even got a drilled cap, since I knew the stock hole was a ridiculously tight draw.
Halfway through, I decided I didn't want to try wicking cotton too, since I was already having spasms in both hands - so I pulled the silica through, and figured I might lay a "bed" of cotton under it.

Alas, I also miscalculated, and the danged thing is .7 ohms.
Which would be fantastic, except I don't own anything that'll fire it.

Son of a &*($^.

After all the effort, and to delay just posting the never-wet (well, OK, I washed it) iGo on the classifieds immediately, I present to you:
The best coil I've built yet, and possibly my last.

And I WOULD say, "well, that means it's time to get a mech" - except that wouldn't fix the fact that I'd still DREAD wrapping another coil.

Thanks for listening...

Hey man! That's not a bad coil at all! Looks good!
Don't give up, maybe squeeze a stress ball for a while through the day to prevent hand cramps so you can build with a little bit more ease. Once you get the hang of it it'll come more naturally

Thanks for the positive feedback.
I DO feel a LITTLE better.
I just ripped one of the coils out, futzed with the other one to get 1.2, and I'm vaping it.
Nothing earth-shaking, but heck, it's my coil, and my first dripper, and my own juice tasting great...so I can't call it a total fail.

Shouldn't have gone right for 5/64 on the airholes - it's too much.
But with one coil in there, I'm just thumbing the opposing airhole - it's an iGo-W with a carburetor.

Damn Train, sorry to hear your first experience wasn't very pleasant.

Maybe your mind is made up, but perhaps you could try some type of coil jig, home made coil wrappers, or some automated wrapping method.

A recent one that I hadn't heard about before comes from Susan W. on this post:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ems/521532-rebuilding-tools.html#post12073172

but there are tons of others and you should be able to find a suitable solution. maybe don't give up on it just yet?

I dunno, just hoping you can find a way to overcome the initial frustration so that you can enjoy some homemade coils!

oh and not bad at all for the first attempt if you ask me...and duals!

Thanks - I probably won't give up...lol

Since you mentioned it, I happened to notice a version of a jig the other day.
I don't think I'll get one, but it's reasonably priced, and kind of a nifty look...

@ train2- I'm recovering from a busted neck and have a torn rotator in my right shoulder, I'm right handed, so I know the feeling, best advice I can give you is to take a break every once in a while, when you're shaky, it's even harder. From the pics of looks like your on the right track you make sure your heating your wire before wrapping, then when your done wrapping, torch the whole coil, squeeze red hot coil in pliers till it cools , ten seconds give or take, a few times and they will tighten right up, don't have to squeeze very hard, 1 lb . pressure prolly...
You'll get there, it's just gonna take time and getting a hand full of builds under your belt, take your time and learn to do it right, IMHO without a coil jig as a crutch. Use a screwdriver so you can use the handle to start your coil from.

You may also want to try to twist 2 strands of wire, they will be a lot easier to work with and get the hang of it and it will bring your resistance up to a vv acceptable level without having to run so many wraps. Simple and very effective.

looks great Reyes! how do you like the new truman's wick?

I have it running on my current build with excellent results.

Same its excellent. Setup isn't as fast as method 2 but once I do it a couple of time I'll be able to setup fresh wicks in no time.

Hi guys need some tips here!
here is my build 5 wraps of 28k 1.5diameter at .5 ohms
it vapes great but if I hold it for more than 3 seconds I get a hot leg, i just cover it a bit with some cotton and helps the issue but it doesn't look like an elegant solution.. I do ave some long legs but I'm trying to get closer to the airhole

Your positive or negative connection is loose. Try making sure both are tight. Also that the actual coil isn't touch any surface other then the cotton.

what do you mean by loose? they are really tight and coils do not touch anything other than the post screws and the cotton
