Decided to rewick my AC9 tonight. Used ekowool 2mm, wrapped it in 400 ss mesh, put 30 g Kanthal A-1 5/6 on a 3.25 mm knitting needle (my typical way of making coils lol), attached it my AC9 and slid my wick in it (after a trim).... plumes of vapor and great taste. 1.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpg

That's actually what I use too... Anodized knitting needles and crochet hooks... They're awesome! The anodized surface is non-conductive so you can pulse the coils with the needle in place and it makes it easier to slide out than a drill bit.

Just a simple build on an RSST. 400 mesh. 4/3 wrap. 28AWG Kanthal A1. .9Ω

Getting back to basics is sometimes really all you need to get a crackin' vape from these gennys. Looks like a straw wick there. Has your experience lead you to always make them like that now? There's so many different opinions on straw vs solid. I'm still up in the air on which is better. Been leaning towards solid.

Just out of curiosity, tenshi, why are you wrapping with ss mesh? (I'm not that familiar with Eko-Wool; but find that the Nextel doesn't need it)

I go back and forth. For a while, I was building super solid wicks. Lately, I've been leaving a paper clip size hole in the center. The one in the pic is 90mm of 400 mesh.

Did you acquire it that way or was that a DIY project?
If it's DIY, what did you use?
Were you able to cure it w/o a kiln?

It's bought. Rob from ReosMods.com makes them out of some (unknown to me) Chinese RBA, and mods them specifically for use with Reos. So far they seem to work spectacularly. I've tried all kinds of different shape coils and different materials for wicks, and so far have not managed to make something that was unvapeable. This stainless is my favorite so far though.

Been wanting to try this awhile now. Finally got around to it today. Dual coil U wick setup on a Smok Octopus. Not sure of the ohms as my Prov2 says LO. I'm guessing around .6-.7ohm. 30g K, 5/4 wrap, 400# mesh fully oxidized. Pre-made both coils on a 3/32 screw, then wittled them onto the wick. 0 hot spots... though, as you can see, one coil glows a bit hotter than the other. Anybody know how I can even them out? Flavor is intense.
