Okay, while this is not a working wick set up, it is a type of wick review.
I have been sampling a "Natural Cotton Wick" sampler pack from my local B&M.
All of theirs is NC Virgin Cotton, prepared different ways from angel hair to natural(too many seeds to use)
At the end of a three day trial, where I used my cellular cotton as a comparison since I had to compare it to what I currently use.
The cellular cotton had not been changed every 3 days, like the other cottons.

All of the cottons inside their micro coils virtually scorched and failed where they came in contact with the coils.
See how the cellular cotton at most carmalized?

That said, the cellular cotton was in my vulcan, the RDA I use most.

Guess this is just more of a from my experience post.

24 Gauge G-Plat, 20 wraps total, 5 wraps each coil, Quads, (dual parallels) combined into one coil.

I built it all on one side, because the Dreadnaut has air holes both on the same side of the atty.

Sorry for the coil being gunked up. Just built the coil yesterday and my juice made it like that lol. But anyways it's a single 6 wrap clapton with 24 gauge kanthal being the inner wire and the outer being 29 gauge kanthal. Came out to .52 ohms. Vapes nicely between 40 and 70 watts on my ipv3. Good flavor and decent vapor production. Also this is the most perfect clapton I've made to date! [emoji3]

I absolutely love Clapton coils, they make my kayfun fun

Hey there folks, I decided to revisit Clapton coils over the weekend also. Came up with a couple and have a couple more premade claptons now to play with but here's the one that was the hardest to get mounted and set up and the one I think that cam out the best

It's an Aqua V2, Clapton is 33 Nichrome over 28 Kanthal core, 5 Wraps, comes out to 0.21 ohms. Flavour is amazing, vapor production is off the charts in both tank and dripper mode

5/64 or 3/32 is micro. 1/16 is nano. at around 1/32 is a super nano. I have some 1/32 dremel bits for these, but I prefer my micro coil builds so haven't done it in awhile. 1/8 is a macro coil... i don't really do these anymore either. My favorite builds are standard 24g micro coils.

nano is 1mm
micro is 1/16 or 1.58mm i think it is.
macro is above 1.58 so 5/64 and above

:D

Nikzak did you get that short out from your coil i see in 4th pic down, back coil, apart from that looking good, for some reason it makes me think of rasberrys LOL

yeah that short worked itself out through pulsing and pinching

need to get some more thinner gauge wire to do more claptons as I'm really growing to enoy them again and need to do some more interesting builds. Getting bored with normal coils

yes mate, for sure! i stocked up on 32g A1 kanthal and 24g, 26 & 28 nichrome. the only thing ive noticed is that when i go back to a normal coil now after using a fused clapton is that the taste isnt as strong on a build that i used to think was awsome

even a single fused coil is plenty which i really like as it dont tax the battery as much hehe

Have you got any tips for doing a fused clapton? Admittedly I haven't watched any youtube videos yet about it but I've been trying to work it out for myself and keep ending up with the two core wires twisting themselves, it still looks cool but not that flat look that everyone else seems to get

i just followed this vid>>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4MFwX0114k

all i can say is make sure you straighten your 2 core lengths, you can do this by twisting a single strand in a drill while holding the end with pliers.Make sure you relax while making it :D make sure you watch the vid he is good and will tell you all things :) it took me a couple of trys to get the technique sorted, i've prob made 4 small lengths of it and even my last try was as bad as my first, i just think sometimes you just get lucky and it works LoL

My first build ever, though not my first wicking job.
.5ohm quad coil setup. Each coil is 2.0ohms, 15wraps each, 2mm inner diameter, 28ga. Wicking material is KohGenDo. It takes forever to heat this build up, so I definitely need to work on it.

Nice build, its just a lot of wire and not enough power at 0.5 ohms

Both 24 gauge Kanthal metering out @ 0.24ohm around a 3/32" bit with rayon wicks. Tried out some new wicking design, little more cotton style but still holding more material. Works very very well; both handling 60+ watts easily with chain vaping.

Decided to play with the huge (haha) RDA I got the other day.
ea1983e89e6012bd73b0a3bffb9361ac.jpg

This is a squid/smok mini
28g twisted A1 6/7 wrap on 1.4mm id
Its 0.59ohm

I'm having a blast with this little RDA as it chucks great clouds for its size. I think I hurt some feelings at a vape shop earlier because it was outdoing a good number of the guys there; score one for the little guy lol.

Its got a good flavor & vapor production.
I'm pleased with the couple dollars ($2.49 iirc) I paid for it.
It looks silly as I'll get out but its going to serve its purpose.
I got it to run on my mech in 18500 mode (have a 15amp MXJO) for at work or other times I need a smaller setup.
And its a cool enough build I can use it without a drip tip.
