What's your usual simple build? I think your 30 gauge is too big for a fused clapton. I remember my first clapton was like 28g over 26g or something huge like that because it was all I had. Now this is one of my go to builds. I think you need to use at least 34g for your wraps to get the best performance out of a fused clapton.

It seems to be working fine, but yeah, I only used the 30 because that's all I had. I have some 24 and 26 gauge nichrome on the way, as well as some 34 and 36 gauge kanthal. My usual simple build is typically just a 24 gauge, or twisted 26 or 28. If I'm doing nickel, it's twisted 30, which I'm vaping on right now.

All 34g Clapton
Triple twisted core
Ohms out at 1.70 lol
Heats up quick at 12w (4.5v)

Flavor and vapor production rock. I could probably squeeze another 3-5 watts out of it just fine.

Nice. You think because of the more core wires that it drains your batteries more?

Not anymore than it normally would. I was using a normal Clapton with a 26g core and 34g outer. This one heats up much quicker on less power so I would say it probably lasts longer. I really only wrapped this because it was all I had handy and I needed a way to make a decent coil lol.

Hmm... Interesting, I thought that the more wires you run in parallel the more battery power it required. I might try this lol.

So most may know I was a big supporter of Clapton coils (still am for my drippers mostly), well I've moved into the temp control world now, so it's simple spaced ni200 coils in my tanks now.
28 gauge tempered ni200 (easier to work with) don't know the id of the bit I used... Larger then 3mm :p, 8 wraps, comes in at .11 ohm, wicked with rayon...

Is it worth it? How's the flavor on those? I know I'll try temp control one day but one reason I haven't yet is because I notice you can't really do nice flavor builds with nickel wire.

On that note, have you tried twisting nickel and kanthal? I've heard that works really well.

I won't go back....I love tc. Flavor is great on the sub tank, was ok, but muted on the ego one mega tank. Even if the flavor isn't quite on par with a good Clapton coil, the trade off of consistent vape, and zero dry hits makes it worth it. I've vaped multiple tanks bone dry....all it does is stop making vapor....no nasty hit :p

Are you willing to try twisting kanthal and nickel? I don't have any temp control mods ATM and I'm very interested to know if the flavor is on par with claptons.

I'll look at my rda's, if any of them are close to needing a rebuild I'll try it on that

Ok.... Did a dual twisted with 28 gauge ni200 and 28 gauge kanthal. Ohmed at .05
The flavor was good, but not phenomenal. The problem could be my RDA was just too airy for that build, but I'm limited on wire atm. I was using an airek...beastly airflow.

Oh yeah the airek looks like it has way too much airflow for flavor, especially at 0.5. Funny, from assuming your vaping style from all the posts that I've read from you I wouldn't think you one to own an RDA like the Airek lol.

.05..... Not .5 :p
I needed an RDA with beastly airflow for the variant clone ;)
