By the way, I just placed an order for the Noisy Cricket & the Indestructible RDA. I was hopping someone could clarify something for me... Which is better, a series box mod or a parallel box mod. From what I understand, a series box doubles voltage & a parallel doubles the mah ?? I thought any mechanical mod could take lower resistances depending on how good your batteries are, but I just read that when building for a series mod you can't go below .25 ohms, is this true ? And if so which is best for super low ohms, like .20 ohms or lower series or parallel box mods ? I only ask bcuz I've always loved mechanical mods & I realized since VW/VV box mods have been so affordable & the Bees Knees as of late, I haven't purchased a mech mod in nearly a year & since my sweet spot has been .15 & even lower sometimes, I want to get back into my mech & hybrid mods. I built a nice coil on my Derringer RDA & SMPL mod setup the other day and I couldn't remember how low I should build or how low I used to build back when I first got it. Safety is very important to me & I use mostly Samsung 25r & Sony VCT5 batteries for the most part. But unless I'm mistaken, I was vaping between 1 ohm & no lower than .5 ohms before Subtanks came out & my mech mods started collecting dust. Anyhoo, I decided that I wasn't going to buy anymore VW/VV boxmods anytime soon & I wanted to buy a few (dual battery)mechanical boxmods & few more (single battery) mech mods. I just wanted to refresh my memory on the best mods I should buy, for my new super sub ohm style of vaping.

A parallel box in theory doubles mAh & Amps. But with the amps it's really a 1.5x, so with say VTC4's, your CDR would be around 45A. A series box doubles the voltage. It's like stacking batteries so you get 2 cells with double the power. It's great for those builds with a long ramp time around .2Ω. This would be an example of a series build I have in my Petri v1:
image.jpeg
it comes in at .20Ω ohms on the nose but the ramp up time on a mech is pretty long. A series box would be doubling the voltage output (minus voltage drop & what have you) and would cause that dual 8 wrap 3mm framed staple alien to heat up MUCH quicker because of the 8.4v the batteries would be pushing at it.
However for a series box I'd recommend buying a couple pairs of batteries, numbering them and marrying them as you would a series regulated mod.

Hey 'M' :)

A single cell mech mod and a dual 'parallel' or a triple cell etc and so on are all '4.2v' no matter of how many batteries But each cell's mah are added together to give you your total.
A 'noisycricket' is a 'series' mech and each battery has 4.2v which are added together giving you a total of '8.4v' but you only get the mah of a single cell.

A mechanical mod run's it's power according to the ohm's you give your coil's so let's say for argument sake you want your fav ohm's on a single cell or a dual cell 'parallel' of 0.15ohm's, this will give you 117.6w and 28A.
Ohm's law

To run the same power on your noisycricket you will need a coil build of 0.6ohm's, this give's 117.6w and 14A.
Ohm's law

I was gunna buy a noisycricket myself but i can't be dealing with changing my batteries any more than i do with my dual parallel mech, plus i can't be dealing with the amount of wire needed to get the 0.6ohm coil/s, i prefer less wraps and wire unless the wire is high gauge orelse i personally start to taste the wire.

I'd say 0.3ohms on the NCricket would be near the limit of good batteries but thats 235w lol.
Ohm's law

I would get a copper raptor t6 if you want a very good dual parallel mech mod with very little voltage drop, if you get one make sure to defo get the 'copper'! :)

Hey Guys,
I apologize for being so scarce lately, but I just recently found out I'm gonna be a grandmother & even better... I'm have a grandson on the way:thumb: So yeah, I've been a little side tracked lately, but as always still vaping like a boss. I believe I've mastered the 3 & 4 strand or more like the 6 & 8 strand braids, so I figure I'm ready to try perfecting my Claptons. Does anyone have or know a sure fire way to make the perfect Clapton ? I do okay by hand, but due to the medication I take, my hands shake terribly & I find myself messing up far too much wire, trying to get it done. So I am open to any & all suggestions or if you know of a specific video that would be helpful that would be great too... You guys are still the best coil builders on the net & I just love looking at your coil porn... Keep up the great coil building...

Congratulations on the upcoming grandson, granny! :D ... funny enough i'm gunna be a grandad in a few months, its such a funny thought as i don't feel old enough to have this title yet :p.... im so excited ....

Regarding your claptons it doesnt really matter if you have shaking hands, all you need do is twist your main wire and your clapton wire together and insert into your drill and then pinch the clapton wire against the main wire and spin the drill, the part thats being claptoned will push your pinching fingers along the main wire, even if you have a little bend in the main wire from shake or arm movement as long as you keep pinching hard it will continue to clapton np's.
Or you could buy one of those machines, i say machine but its just like a plastic clamp that holds the wires together the same as your fingers would do.

Thanks Slippy, but I'm gonna need you to know no matter how many grandchildren my kids manage to make, I'm never gonna be a Granny :pervy: (lmao) I see u got jokes... I'm GG "AKA" Gorgeous Grandma, my mother gets the title Granny or Nanna, even though she hasn't decided yet. This child will be the 1st "Great Grand", great nephew & everything else that goes with it..lol... Yeah, I don't feel old enough for it either & the crazy part is, my daughter is due July 4th, the same day I had my aneurysm in "09". Of all the 365 days in a year, whats the odds of him being due on that date ? Let alone being born on that day...sigh... I had plans on visiting a buddy of mine this year & I just broke the news to her yesterday, that there's been a change in plans..smh... I've been trying to get there (Colorado) for the last couple of years & every year something comes up, that I can't go. So I just pray I live another year & try again next summer or she's gonna have to come see me...

Anyhoo, as far as the Claptons go, my friends call me monkey fingers bcuz I have short, fat, stubby fingers & I find myself having to push my claptons to the end of the wire, in order to get them close together. No matter how hard I try, I manage to have spaces in my claptons, but no way am I paying $17.99 for a $2 clamp & a piece of plastic. I guess I'll keep pushing my wire together until China either clones a jig or make an affordable one. I think I'm gonna try using thicker wire, I've been using 26g & 34g or 36g outer wire. A matter of fact, I was planning on ordering some 22g & 32g Ni200 to try my hand at some temp control claptons & different builds. I wish I could find some Ni200 ribbon wire, I've been enjoying twisted ribbon & 26g in my AEOLUS for the past couple of weeks & it would probably taste even better in TC mode...

Ahh well, I can't wait to get my Indestructible RDA next week & the only reason why I ordered the Noisy Cricket, is bcuz it just didn't seem right to get the atty & not the matching mod that was made for it. My Twisted Messes RDA is the only atty I have, that can fit exotic coil builds. Everything else I have can fit thick 22g or even 20g, maybe even 26g Clapton & higher, but anything else lower & claptonized, won't do. Fused claptons, staggered, alien or otherwise, will only fit in my TM. Do you know of any other atomizers with beefy post holes ? Other than the Phenotype, TM or Indestructible RDA's, I mean I've been checking out the Boss Hog, the Griffin RTA & a few other atties that don't exactly sing "Vape Me", so I might just get another TM or perhaps I'll just wait to see what comes out btwn now & my bday. The TM & the Indestructible should be enough to enjoy my exotic coils, I guess... sigh But I'm definitely going to look into getting myself a few mech mods for my b'day next month. Every year since "09" I buy myself a nice setup for my b'day, so I guess the Jaybo Cloud kit will have to do...

More fresh coils. Well. One day old fresh re-wick.
image.jpeg

These are the second set of framples I've done with an alien wrap over the framed staple. Specs are (from inside out)
28g frames
2 ply .3x.1mm
2 ply .4x.1mm
44g wrap
34g alien.
I made the alien wrap over a strand of 27g because last time I made these coils with a 36g alien wrap, the wrap was a little too tight over the 44g framed staple and caused some screw ups. These coils are dope if I must say so myself :D

Granny! :D Hehee!

The jig they make and sell is basically a plastic clamp that you can buy from most hardware stores these days.
Pushing your clapton wraps together is okay to, what you can do is bend the core wire over with the tip of your pliers(you only need a little u-bend)and push all the wraps to this end then cut and bend the other end so that when you come to wrap they have nowhere to go and you have tight wraps in your finished coil.

I have a Temple 30mm rda which has huge post holes, they a 24mm aswell but there are only two post holes on that and they look a little smaller, i'm not sure.
I still use my velocity rda's, although they dont have as big post holes as the TM rda they fit most builds ive done plus for a set of dual coils they get theyr own set of post holes.

Thats all i got for you atm sausage fingers :)

Dang !! I luv this place & the people in it as well. Just when I'm cranky, in pain due the rain outside at 2:40 am & my usual ...... at the world, bcuz of an unannounced holiday "It's phukk with Melody Day & Nobody told me" I happen to peek in this thread & I can't hold back the smile on my face, bcuz of my crazy :censored: :censored:vapor buddies on the ECF :) So I'm not gonna act like a :censored: :censored::censored: bcuz my favorite :censored::censored: bloke "aka" Grand Paw Paw, from across the pond called me :censored::censored: "Granny" again :pervy: lmfao (Sigh) I'm just gonna take it on the chin & buy myself some vape gear, while I still can b4 my 1st grandchild is born & takes all of GG's money  Now gimme a sec, while I wipe these tears of laughter from my eyes, so I can chit chat about :censored: vaping & building coils...:nun: Sigh... I haven't laughed that hard in a good, long while, Thanks Slippy I really needed that:p Whew !!

Okay, I'm good now....lol Alright, alright, that's my last giggle...
Now about these coils... Last night, while I was on Hangouts with my little-big brother :rolleyes:we decided to try twisting 2 separate pieces of 24g kanthal & then we took the 2 separate twisted pieces of kanthal & twisted those together... just as well say a 4 strand twisted coil, I guess... which didn't come out half bad, at all & we made enough to do a dual coil on our Twisted Messes RDA's. Now most of my Claptons can fit on my Velocity clones, but I luv making single, parallel coils.... Usually, a Clapton or braided coil & a single strand of either 22 or 24 gauge N80 wire & of course, ya can't do singles on a velocity & even if I could, parallels won't fit. There's something about a good single parallel coil, that I absolutely love vaping on, for some reason. Single coil capabilities is normally something I look for in a good atty & is usually a deal breaker for me, if an atty doesn't have it. But the velocity is 1 of those RDA's I had to try regardless. Since it's flavor & cloud production was bragged about so much...smh & it's been in regular rotation ever since. I'm more of a flavor chaser, but if I can get the best of both worlds in a single atty, I'm in hog heaven for sure...

So I was in need of another RDA with large enough post holes & single coil capabilities. And I don't particularly like buying the same atomizer twice, unless its worthy of owning 2 of them, like the velocity. Well kinda sorta... I have the 1:1 clone and I have the mini & I luv'em both :hubba: Dang it !! I forgot to take pics of my build yesterday. I'll try to remember to do it, when I change out my rayon. Some of these Clapton videos make it look so easy, to make them & I guess I just wanted to make them come out perfect, without having to fiddle with it. But trust & believe, reality has made it very clear that these little monkey fingers, will not be making any perfect Clapton wire, any time soon;)
Happy Vapes guys !! & enjoy your day... It looks like rain all day, here in Va so I might find myself in bed, fighting pain for most of it. But everyday is still a blessing, no matter what it brings even if I don't get any vape mail today...:p I still vape happy, no matter what...

My whole life is a "let's **** with Tommy!!!" day. It gets irritating sometimes haha. The velocity is so over done & over hyped. Gah that thing is everywhere.
Try taking 2 strands of clockwise twisted 24 & twist them together counterclockwise. Instead of a spiral you get an interlocking wire once spun tight enough. It's pretty cool.
Now back to what I was sayin. So many things have that velocity deck.
Now even the Geekvape Taunami has that deck (better version of it) with a Kennedy's bottom airflow design. Solid idea, don't know how well it'll hold up in daily use.
I just threw a thread up on the Goon atty, that thing looks to be beastly, at 24mm and the post design. Check it out. It kills the velocity design IMO.

BTW Does anyone have the Griffin RTA ?? If so, how does it vape ? My Bellus is loose & it seems to be no tightening it up, making my ohm readings all over the place & shorted. So I'm in need of another RTA, it seems UD rta's don't hold up very well & I actually liked that one. I don't even touch my subtanks anymore & I prefer dual coil rebuildable tanks. Maybe, I'll just wait & see what new ones come out in the next couple of weeks. My Aromamizer RTA is by far the best I've owned, to date...Hmm is it just me or has anyone else noticed there hasn't been a whole lot of new anything lately.. I mean at 1 point there were new atties every week... It seems like its been kinda slow this month, but I am getting tired of seeing the Velocity style deck/posts on everything. If it wasn't for making different kinds of wire & coils, I'd probably be bored to death, bcuz it feels like I'm building the same atty over & over... Like all the RDA's either have a Velocity style deck or they're made like the Twisted Messes, Mutation X & etc... Its like all of a sudden, there's only 2 styles of atties being made. I think the last atomizers I had that were different, was the HoBo 3.1 & the Petri I believe... Yeah, that sounds about right... Oh well, let me checkout some new vids... I did run across an atty called the Cera RDA I think ? I think its a totally all ceramic, flavor chasing rda. I'm just not sure its worth $35, to be a China original...

The Goon Atty by 528 Customs & Blueeyedgoon83 I'd say that counts as very different.

Yes, and I love it. I haven't used my Aromamizer even one since I got the Griffin, and my Crius I only use when I take quick trips out into the world for errands. There's a contest out there giving one away, but I don't think we're allowed to post the links to contests in ECF unless they're run specifically on ECF. If I'm correct, then it's a pretty idiotic rule, but you gotta take the bad with the good.

I'm with @CrazyChef, I loved my Aromamizer until I got the Griffin. I do know that another RTA almost exactly like the Griffin that has come out recently as the "Griffin Killer" is the Vaporesso Gemini RTA. Mikes Vapes posted a video saying "if you already own a Griffin, you won't notice a huge difference. If you don't own the Griffin, look into getting the Vaporesso Gemini". I really like the idea of the new airflow post in the center of the velocity style deck and the top down airflow design.

I'm actually waiting for GeekVape to get back to me for a possible replacement of my Griffin as mine has too much play with the juice flow control. Like to the point that when I'm filling it, I have to hold the glass to keep it in place. It's annoying but the vape is so great that it doesn't really bother me.

36g, K1, fishtail. Got some great colors too. This is a 10 strander. I wanted enough for duals but the skinny wire snapped on me as I was pulling too tight when wrapping. Came it at .64ohms around 2.25mmid. The coil lit instantaneously at 25watts. Still feeling it out but this maybe an ATF.

Wharf is in taste central with his braids, looking good man! ;)

I've been so so busy lately, it's a good job ive had my two fav rta's on the go to help, i haven't got around to putting anything fancy in them yet but they don't half taste good as is...

Both rta's have 24g at 2.5id with rayon..the one above is the griffin with n60 at 0.21 ohms running on my mech at around 70-80w.
Below is the aromamizer with ss316 at 0.2 ohms run on regulated mod at 65w.

I like both the rta's lots! but I have to say the aromamizer is a little better on taste as they are. :)
