umm I just tried the I wick I think... I did it in the reo with the coil high for TH... 1/16 26g @0.5Ω.... normally would get dry hits or coil burn being so high off the deck but this worked really well... and it don't even matter if I over squonk juice cus that long wick hanging down like two vines from a tree are gonna suck that up...
just check me.. I think I prepared it correct..
flattened out my cotton as I would if rolling dry
soaked cotton in juice
rolled up juiced cotton nice and firm which squeezes out most of the juice
flame cotton and blowout before it burns
re-juice , install in coil
is^^ that right, it worked ok
Glad to see you trying the wick
Only step you did that I didn't see in either ITEO's or Deed's instructions was the "flame cotton and blowout before it burns" step.
Did you literally run a flame on the wick before installing it?
For me, I just installed the newly rolled juiced wick in my coil, then fire it a few times til the wick dries out some, then re-juice the wick and it's ready to go.
I'm still experimenting with this wicking style myself and only tried a few different builds and am still trying to find the right density and compactness of the rolled cotton. From the looks of ITEO's and Deed's pictures, they seem to roll it fairly compacted, so when juice there's no translucency to the wick.
It looks to me that you could go a little denser in your roll from the pics you provided. Part of what's nice with iTeos wicks is that they won't collapse (shrink) after use and I think that if you don't roll it compact enough that yours will still have room to shrink. It may just be that your using a smaller ID for your coil vs what I have seen and that's why it looks translucent.
I've tried some more compacted rolls to start with, I will try a less dense build for my next coil to compare the differences.
Since you have tried a less dense version, maybe try a more compacted version for your next trial and we can compare our experiences after we have had some time vaping on each style wick.
Perhaps Deeds can chime in on the compactness of his wicks too. His pictures and firing videos of these wicks were my inspiration to even try this method. Deeds wicks always looked perfect in his builds, little wicks of art to match his builds.
