What size ribbon is that? The .8mm?

i tend to go a little heavier on the wick with builds that are a little slower on cool down, really puffy bits of cotton either end of the coil like how yosh vapergate at youtube does and if it still doesnt behave itself which is very unlikely after this then i wick the underside of the coil aswell, but got be honest i havent had any issues with that 3 wrap build above ^^, but its still only 5 strands of 32g and a .6 ribbon, maybe 4 or 5 wrap would take a while on cool off.
i'm using the airek with huge air which prob helps aswell.
this build also reminds me of the vape you get with braided 32g which isnt far off a chainlink or interlock build.

I have seen that video, but what I have found from my own experimentation, is that the more coil I leave open the better the flavor and vapor. But maybe that is just me.

Very basic rebuild on my Russian 91%.
28g twisted on 2.4mm id = ~1ohm

Mostly I'm posting this to show the crazy big juice channels on this thing. They are around 2.2mm (maybe a hair bigger) and have posed issues with wicking (mainly easily floods).

Only way I've found to keep it from flooding (most of the time anyway) is to put something smaller (1.3-1.5mm) in the channels and pack the cotton down then remove what I had in the channels (normally an Allen wrench). Then fluff the cotton around the hole left by the Allen.

If anybody else has run across an issue like this and has a better way to wick let me know

I have not seen this wire wrap yet, and I was playing at the work bench and opted to try this since the Tidal Wrap worked out so cool.
What I did was take .8mm ribbon, approximately 7 feet, and twist it. Once that is done, double it and twist it again. Take another 7 feet and twist it the opposite of the first (drill in Reverse), then double it and twist again(drill still in reverse). Put both wires together and twist (drill forward).

So far so good. It kicks out both good flavor and great vapor, and it cools down faster than the tidal wire.
Only down side is, that it is harder to fit through the drilled out holes in my rda. Easily fixed with needle nose pliers, just flatten a bit.

Until I hear someone else has prenamed it, I am calling it "Barbed Wire".

heyup lucky_x16 :) Yes i'm with you on the coil exposure equalling more flavour.

As regards the slow cool off of the Tidal wire, i've never noticed this, i presume you vaped it at around 0.5Ω ? i've only vaped it at between 0.07-0.15Ω.
Slow heat up can result in slow cool off as the wire is being heated fully compared to a lower ohm build that requires maybe a 1 sec pulse to achieve the same result vape wise. But its a balancing act. If i use 20ga nichrome at 0.08Ω im just about tiptoeing across the fine line and i do notice a slow cool off, less wire as in 20ga A1 works okay for me at 0.08 and is pretty much a perfect vape.
The higher power builds dont mind being covered in extra cotton and still give good flavour orelse i wouldnt vape them :)

Yea, I stick to between .4 ohm and .6 ohm preferably that is, for my mechanical attys. For me that is where it's smoothest. With the batteries I use, the ramp up on the coils has been incredibly fast, but with all the wires in a tidal wrap, it just stores the heat.

Just got my bottom fed vertex.. And man...this could be my favorite rda yet

It does have a remarkably shallow well though, so non-squonking folks might not be a fan. But the flavor and vapor production off this fella is on point.

Where did you find/get/have it made?

This is a build I did about a month ago and still rocking, though the coils are starting to get a bit rusty...
It's a dual twisted 28ga, parallel sleeper build, clocking in between .26 and .28 ohms depending on the mood of my reader
Each coil is about 6/7 wraps around a 2mm post.
I just wanted to show off the glow :D

i'm still finding empty rda's to build on and after USM saying about liking stovetops and claptons i had to put the two together, she's a little rough looking but its not a straight clapton, it's 26ga A1 with 0.9x0.1 ribbon wrapped clapton style and then clapton style 30g A1 over that, the ribbon when wrapped or curved splits apart, you can just make it out in the stovetop.

And here is something else ive been playing around with, its 2strand twist of 30ga A1 wrapped clapton style over 26ga A1 ...
when a coil is wrapped with this wire it looks just like a clapton on heat up...
