The lighting makes the ribbon looked warped, but anyway i decided to fill all the grooves in the twisted 26g eitherside of the 7 pieces of ribbon which ment wrapping the length 3x

The flavor from that must be amazing. Inspiring as always my man!

I did some staple Claptons once. 8 pieces ribbon with 36 n80. They came out perfect the first time and I wrapped them with the ribbons vertical. i may have to try them horizontal next time. Looks great.

Hurray for Lightning vapes and 1k ft of 36n80 and 300ft of .5ka1 ribbon. Stocked up on what I was low/out of. Also got my macro lens for my old iPhone. I'm impressed for the cost. I made up another set of those framed staples I love so much to put in my new black Twisted Messes rda when it shows up (hopefully tomorrow).

Amazing what a cheapo macro can do. Oh, also, If you were wondering how I made those, one of my favorite builders just put out a tutorial on how to make 'em!

The flavor is off the hook on these coils, and I recommend you make some.

vape on folks, I'll be posting more tomorrow, going to make some more framed staple aliens for a friend.

Also had almost 18" of this left over from building this weekend.

Kanthal 0.8 X 0.1 flat 5 strands claptoned with 36G N80

I'll clean them up in the atty. left my nylon tweezers at the B&M I was at. My fingertips are raw from wrapping these.
Nice staples. I do 12 pieces of .08 clapton'd with 36g. Unreal vape.

Sick coil slip. Link to a tutorial? What ribbon are you using? I can't find ribbon that does not come off the spool warped, kinked, twisted and NON FLAT. Any suggestions?

Thanks:) but i'm only copying other people (sometimes:)) as you all are. This Stapled Helix imo is one of the easier ones to build so long as you can stack your ribbon, getting one end of the ribbons all lvl and then taped up and then saliva along the remaining ribbon plus running your fingers along will help stick them before taping.
I use 1mm x .05 ribbon, i dont think where you get it from really makes a huge dif unless its always really beat up! but i will tell you i got mine from the crazy wire company and it wasnt cheap and wasnt quick but anyway what i do think makes a dif is how you take it off the spool, i think if you pull it off you will damage it and damage ribbon further down on the spool, if you unwrap the ribbon it takes forEVER But its the only way i can get some really nice pieces, if someones been yanking on that ribbon to get it off the spool then the damage is gonna be deep as the .05 is really soft.. ofcourse i'm not saying you cant peel it off the spool but you have to do it gingerly if you do!!
LocalVape shows all aspects of the build very well...

Haven't posted here in a very long time :D So I'll post something in counter to all the fancy stuff.

Someone took pity on my broke self and sent me a ToBeCo Kayfun knockoff -- I was using a cobbled together thing made out of ce4 guts and a carto tank after dropping my Tumbler knock-off.

After trying various fancy shizzle from various Youtubers, I went back to a K.I.S.S. build that works just as good for me. Not a cloud chaser build, but one that's easy maintenance and one I can chainvape all day without gunking it up. I'd tried a "Navy Nest" build, but that just made more accumulated goo.

Notes:
  1. If I wasn't using Ego knockoffs, I'd go with a lower resistance.
  2. Cotton does wick a bitt better than ekowool, but also has to be replaced more often, so it's a bit of a tradeoff.
  3. Rather than wrapping wire around the wick, I pull it through after. This makes for easy replacement. Plus you haven't seen the horrors of me attempting to wrap wire around a bit of material that's flopping around.
Coil: 7 wraps of 30awg A1 Kanthal around a 3mm screwdriver for ~2ohms
Wick: 2mm ekowool

Pre-built, cooked, installed and made somewhat perdy the coil, then pulled the wick through with a scrap piece of wire -- about the same amount of drag as I'd have on cotton. It's brown in the second picture because I tried prewetting with juice before cutting, but it went fuzzy anyways. Third picture, after installing the collar I wiggle the wick to make sure it's not clogging the channels, then position it.

And a brief plug for the General 744 pocket screwdriver. Cheap ($2us) and pocket friendly (if you haven't lost the caps like me) -- good if you have something like the Kayfun that needs you to carry around a philips to fill gracefully. Small shafts are ~2mm, large ~3mm, which makes it nice for coil wrapping.

Hey G what ohms did you get with yours mate.

I wish i cud take some clean pics like superfecta, how many mpixels?

Mines came out to .16. I'm using .8x1mm flat ribbon. 26ga Ni80 and just regular 32ga A1 for the wrap.

I have a macro lens for my iPhone but it doesn't take pics like above??

Aww I see now. I have 2 lens on it. Will switch them around.

Well, this is my first build using this type of wire. This is the best attempt using the tools at hand. Believe this is 28 gauge wire. Any suggestions in the future how to get the coils more together would be helpful. This picture shows my first attempt ever to build coils. The thing that's interesting is the space between the coils feels like there is more airflow. Friends or vape shop people were the ones who used to build all my coils, but figured it was time to do my first build including wicking. Glad it at least works and props to the folks who can make almost perfect spring-like builds. Very impressive. Vape on.

Why thank you Retro! I wanted to make a triple interlocking Clapton but shoving the wires inside was too difficult to split the wraps. So I said screw it and alien'd it
How's that vaping? It's hard to picture what that coil with an alien wrap would do.

Hey VapeNoob4 you can vape it just fine like that just so long as when you fire her up whilst having a butchers for any glowing parts where your coil and wick might not be touching as you are a little uneven by the looks of things, but apart from that as said if anything you will find your wick wont dry out as quick with open wraps.
But if you wanted touching wraps you really need to get them touched/wrapped tightly at the beginning rather than trying to snug them after.
But why change it if its vaping good!? i prefer open wraps myself but most cases i cant fit the coil in the atty if open :D
