Clean Build Tom, sometimes it's nice to go back to basic coils for one reason or another, ive even broke out the rayon which ive been using in basic coils which seems to amplify flavour, ive been cutting my juice in half, using hardly any flavour, i must be on about 2.5% flavour now on all dif brands and its still strong... then when we go back to a :sneaky: crazy build its like being supercharged lol

Lol I hear ya. I started making my DIY juice 90/10, but I may up it to 95/5% VG/PG. The 5% would only be flavoring. And some of those are VG base :D.
Side note, I'm thinking bout getting a new mech. What's everyone's opinion on the SubOhm Innovations Sub Zero mod?

I was just recommending going to LightningVapes.com because their spools are super cheap, and they're always 15% off with LV15

You could also check out kidney puncher or twisted messes but their prices are higher. The perks to those companies is high gauge wire above 40g & KP carries a lot of different ribbon gauges in n80 & ka1. Also square wire which I've been dying to try out.
I can't attest for GPlat (which is just 316L Stainless Steel), but anarchist wire is high quality N80. I've used it before, it's a good brand & the vape is good, but expensive. The only time I use branded wires like that is when asked to by a customer I'm building for. And then because it's anarchist or Royal wire I get to charge them more.

I'll check it out, I may have gotten a nice deal on Kanthal from Amazon, but I know I'm going to need some N80 wire. I was thinking of using the wire vise for the other end of the wire, to twist the wire in a specific order, opposite the drill end. Its just a thought, I'd like to try... My cordless drill holds the wire just fine, but my corded drill is another story. I got some 20g kanthal in the mail last week & I wanted to use it in a parallel build, but its so frikk'in thick (smdh) I don't think I'll be using it too often. I tried it on a plain dual coil last night, reading .15 ohms & its such a hot vape...Whew !! Should have never put it in this Velocity Mini...lol
AnyHoo... Back to those beautiful coils... Hmm... mesh, huh ?? So you just torched & rolled it, then built your wire around it ?? I think I'm gonna start with an Staple or Alien Clapton 1st & then work my way up to the more complicated builds. Funny how I just went to the Lightning Vapes & I already have an account...smh I thought the name sounded familiar & I happened to glance at a few of my spools laying around & what do I see ?? Lightning Vapes of course...lol I just bought some Ni200 & Titanium wire from there a couple of months ago. I'm so glad I didn't buy that GPlat wire, I already have some 316L SS wire, I haven't even used yet. I'm gonna have to pick my N80 gauges carefully, since I can't buy them all...lol So I'm leaning towards some 36 & 26 gauge to start me off. I'm thinking the 40g might be too thin for me to work with,(I see my heavy handed self popping it) but then again... Some N80 ribbon wire might do the trick as well. Ahh mann, vaping has so many frikk'in choices... And with choices comes responsibilities... Yeah, like I need more of that...lol

I just switched my DIY ejuice from 85% VG to max VG or what some folks would call 100% VG (sigh) And I've been using the rayon Cellucotton lately ... Just out of curiosity, is anyone else using rayon ? I find the flavor to be really crisp & clean, with little to no break-in time. A vapor buddy of mine, from FB sent me a sample (5ft) & I'm down to my last 6 inches of it. I was wondering if there is some specific brand or is it all the same ?? I'm a little leery on buying the little homemade baggies of it on Ebay, but the box looks like so much. Is the 40ft box the smallest box it comes in ?? I'm guessing it is, but it doesn't hurt to ask before I hit the "Order" button on this $7/40ft box :) Then again, 40ft should last me a good long while, plus it works so much better than cotton in my RTA's, I'm not sure I wanna go back to using Japanese cotton. I've was using the Scottish Roll method in my RDA's, but its so time consuming & it only works well if I'm using 3mm diameter coils & atties with a deep juice well. IMO Well, the Jets lost today & my son is on his way home...(smh) Sigh, I'm gonna hear his mouth from now til Superbowl Sunday... Happy Vapes :(

Twisted 27g kanthal 36g kanthal and 32g n80. 9 wraps and it came out to .97 ohms. Vapes nice at 15 watts.
This coil looks great too & if it vapes good at 15 watts, that's right up my alley. :thumb: Hmm, I'm gonna have to try this 1
Great build Jonny....

i use rayon too, i have a 1200ft box on the way :lmao:
so long as it says 100% rayon fiber and original on the box.
i'm sure as long as you look for these words on ebay you should get the right stuff, i'm gonna maybe have to get rid of some of mine, i didnt realise it was such a big box i bought doh!

SS wire is nice, i use 22 & 24g often in simple builds :)

@Mistaree

Do you have any other wiring kit? Like the Artistic Wire that was raved about last year?

No I don't have any wiring kits, as of yet... The Artist wire kit is just an over sized Kuro Koiler to me, but I have been looking at The Kumihimo circle thingy, but I wasn't ready to do any of that stuff last year or now, besides I don't do too swell following the herd... I usually do what suits my needs, when I need to do it  Plus, I figured I'd need to start doing the basic exotic coils like, fused staples, Alien staples, Tidal wave, dragon coils & such first, before I plunge into anything else. And if I enjoy these staple alien, dragon tail tidal wave flavor cloud chasing coils... I may not ever need to do the Artistic, Kumihimo wire kit thingys...

LMAO... Great to know, it ain't just me...lol
And I was worried about the 40ft box, (smh) At first all I could find was the 500ft boxes. Don't get me wrong, the prices are amazingly cheap, but no way...do I need all of that wick:) Funny how I didn't expect to like it that much, but its wicking properties are awesome & I definitely didn't expect the flavor to be so clean. My favorite DIY juice is Pineapple Cheesecake & this rayon makes the pineapple flavor pop & stand out, when I vape it. :p I have some :p26g SS 316L I got to build coils for my Uwell tank, but right now I have it in a dual coil setup... My Swirlfish RDA, setting on top of my Treebox by Smok. 1 of the smoothest setups I have in rotation... By the way, I usually keep at least 4 setups in rotation, with a different flavor in each. 2 RDA's & 2 tanks, okay maybe 5 in rotation including my 1 temp control setup:pervy:

heyup 'M' :)

I seem to be able to taste the rayon until i've run a ml or two through the wicks, is this the same for you?
after that though its frigging awesome! ..i hate changing my wicks so its ideal, i don't even change wick's for different flavour's, like you i have lots of mods but i've only run two for a while now, i do sweet, fruity, milkshakey and choc fudge brownie mostly which i find all mix well together on the transition :D i try to keep it simple or else i get a headache with to much stuff, i just use two mod's and just change rda's from time to time, with the rda's i take off i pull the wick's and wash the rda with coils still installed then chuck em in a empty ice-cream container incase i want to go back to them, got to make sure they are dried properly though as some have rusted from the screws lol

I've had little to no break in time with my tanks (Aromamizer & Bellus) But my RDA's take a little longer, a ml or 2, same as you. My DIY lineup is all sweet flavors... Sour Apple Bubblegum, Jolly Rancher, Pineapple/Peach Cheesecake & etc... And like u, all my flavors are easy to transition thru should I forget which flavor I was using...lol My brother says I buy vape gear like a true woman, bcuz if I buy an atty, I have to buy a matching mod & vice versa...lol Same as when I buy clothes... If I buy an outfit, I have to get matching shoes, rii ?? Of course I do... I've been known to keep the same coils for months, in some of my setups & I have an old jar full of used coils, too..:) I tried rayon for the 1st time a month or so ago. I know there was a lot of hype over it last year, but I had so much Japanese cotton I didn't see a need to try it, but a vapor buddy of mine kept saying how much better rayon is than cotton & he wasn't gonna leave me be, until I tried it.... Now, I liked it from the moment I vaped it in Bellus, but umm... yeah, I still haven't told him I ordered my own box yet...lol

Not saying you need it. Just if you had one laying around you can actually attach a swivel to it like I'm doing instead of buying a clamp.

I apologize... I didn't mean to come off like that, I'm here to learn as much as I can about this wonderful form of vaping art & I appreciate all the tips, tricks & info, I can get. There's not a whole lot of videos on Youtube about using swivels or step by step guides to what kind of tools & props u need for these kind of coils. The few that are on there, assume folks already know what kind of tools they are. For instance, the vise. I didn't know there were so many different kinds of vises & no 1 explained the importance of core wire & how its used or whether it should be kanthal or N80, n60 & etc...

My Bad @G-Weezy:cry: I don't have 1 but like I said... I have seen them used in vids & heard about them last summer when they were sold out everywhere. Aww man, that's a smart idea, using it with a swivel, but I already sprung for a vise. That Artistic Wire, seemed like a bit too much, (IMO) for making a coil. Besides, I was content with my Kuro Koiler, rebuildables & experimenting with sub ohm coil builds & temp control. I've learned over the yrs NOT to go rushing in on every new fad or new gadget for vaping, bcuz 9x out of 10, its probably just some type of gimmick to get your money (more or less) and doesn't necessarily improve the vape.

For example... the 100's of subtanks that came out last year. Each claiming to be better than the other. Each claiming to have more airflow or better coils than the other, but in reality the airflow can only be, as big as the center tube or chimney. (SMH) Then again there have been some great improvements this past yr as well. The 521 tab, the kuro koiler, subtanks, the DNA200 Chip set the new bar for Chinese manufacturers. I mean 200 watts for under $50, so no telling what's next.

You will be able to use swivels with your vise anyhow 'M' :)
Just make sure you get ball-bearing type, maybe 3 or 4 they are cheap, just clip them on to each other and then the swivel end go's in the vise.
i will take a little pic for you so you can see it setup and which swivels you need, that is unless you already know :)

No problem, your good. I didn't take anything in any wrong way.

I just purchased a shop vise that I mounted on my work table. But that's not where I build coils. Was going to buy another clamp vise but I knew I had something laying around.

That Artistic wire to me was garbage. I can already make coils but I couldn't stand using that thing.

But seeing how it has a clamp on attached to it I thought why not. Inserted the smallest spinning rod they had and put the swivel through.

I attached some pics of my little area. Don't mind the clutter.
