Was farting around out in my shop with some Kanthal, my English wheel and a hex key. I call'em Birds Nest coils. They may not look like much, but here is the result. Flavor is off the hook...

Recently ordered the Vortice 2 RDA from Vapor Shark. Messing with it today. Took about 5.5 loops to get the units to fit into the deck and hit the posts properly. Eventually I'll be pairing the build with the new mini volt by COV. Test dripping AiV Lemon Cake in 11mg. Working well at 130w on the X Cube II. Some minor spitback but with a drip tip that's a little bit longer everything is fine. Build quality on the RDA is pretty good. You can tell it's a little more stable than the low-end clones. Everything fit together fine and it's running in my test phase well.

Yeah sometimes that happens. The best wick materials I've found and know how to use is Native Wick. But, I understand that cotton balls somehow can work (sterile or organic, I don't know). If you can post a guide to wicking I'd appreciate that as it'd make me better at vaping. =)

it will depend on what you are using for wicking, but generally with cotton types, you want the wick tight enough to pull through but "catch" as it pulls...If you are using rayon (my favorite) you want it even tighter....I put it tight enough that it doesn't pull through easy, but not so tight that it distorts the coil when pulled. reason is cotton expands when wet, rayon shrinks

I completely agree with everything you said, except, I think it will take a MAC truck, loaded with Rayon, to distort those coils. ;) What is it, 24 Gauge or 22 Gauge?

or did you mean vapenoob's?
those look to be at least 22 gauge
That's exactly my point. There is no wick, in the World, could distort those coils. :D About your Ti Clapton coil, what kind of Ti wire did you use? I used the one from stealthvape.co.uk for a long time, until they ran out. Then, I discovered NiFe30 and NiFe48 from zivipf.com I'm never going back to titanium. IMHO

grade 1 from Ukamen...I mostly use SS wires now, but had the Ti sitting around and thought...why not? :p

Thought I'd try something a bit different than I usually do tonight. The cores are 2 ply twisted 0.5x0.1 N80 ribbon with a spaced wrap of 36g N80. I did the wrap one way along the wire then worked the same piece of wire back the other way over the cores with a wider spacing. A little sloppy, but heats up super fast and made the pretty colors.

Nuppin...Fresh "One strand" 2mm 28/32 Clapton's to 0.4. No B.S, have another one set up that I've been running for a year and it still hits very well. Of course I have done my due diligence dry burning and wicking. Mind you it hasn't seen daily use, but it has plenty of miles. It has now become a game to see how long it will last...

Here is the year old build...

If you think about it, there is a reason why Clapton coils have been used in electric heaters for many years. Hands down the most durable coil there is.
