mpetva-My 510 manual batts are registering 3.46V on my meter. My M401s are even lower at 2.83V. However this is a vast difference than the 5V on a regular prodigy. Thus the 3.7 should mean a more "stock" (iow: 510/901/801 with a regular battery) like vape.

Thanks!

I was hoping that was the answer :)

Why only 900 mha batteries? Could we use a 2700 mha battery for longer life and more power?

mAh =/= more power. mAh = longer lasting charge at the rated power level.

If the unit is compatible with standard AA batteries, I don't see why longer mAh batteries wouldn't work just fine.

pvq- Are you talking about batteries for the Prodigy or the Protege?

The Prodigy CAN use 18650 sized batteries which have a 4.2 max voltage, and (so far) a maximum capacity of 3000mah. However, these cells are twice as big as the RCR123a or 16340s, which limits max voltage to 4.2V. As production catches up, Steve will be releasing different switches with and without (different) resistors giving voltage options of 3.7V (regulated) 5V (regulated) and 4.2-8.4V (unregulated)

The Protege uses a completely different cell, the 14500, which is the same size as AAs. The biggest capacity of this cell that I've seen is 900mah. Also the configuration of the protege is for a single cell, thus the limitation to 4.2 volts which i assume will be regulated to 3.7 via resistor.

Remember though that it's a trade off. More mAh means shorter overall life of the battery. In other words, a 750 mAh battery might have a life rated at 300 charging cycles and last 4 hours before needing a charge on each cycle. A 2450 mAh battery might have a life rated at 100 cycles but last 12 hours before needing a charge on each cycle.

Those numbers are NOT accurate in any way. I'm just using them for the purpose of example.

Even so, with the batteries at $5 each, wouldn't it be worth it for extended use time and less time charging?

Hey Steve, how long approx till you start shipping these out? I would love to get my hands on one of these babies.

Also, how could you leave the best city in the world?

Um ... I would put the estimate at 3-4 weeks ... BECAUSE ... Rubber housings for PT's, and Prodigy's are coming in either the end of this week and/or next week, and that free's up the machines. WE will be caught up quite quickly, and will be adding stock to the inventory daily. Once that takes place -- The Protege is is a god :)

Yeah was wondering how long on being able to order possibly myself.
Birthday is coming next month and I want one of these lol

Lets hope we get it listed before your BDAY !!!! Happy early bday !!! :D

Why yes, it is! I miss the crazy old fart! ;)

And to stay on topic: I WANT A PROTEGE!!

I thought so, and you've managed to make him look crazier than he already did. Ha! Do you listen to WWCR?

Back on topic: I love my Prodigy. The batteries died last night and I hadn't had a chance to charge up the next set. So I had to revert to my old 801 batts... so unsatisfying. Yet for some reason I still want a Protege...

I think Steve could slap "Puresmoker" on the side of nose hair trimmer and I'd wanna buy it.
