Bad... I think it was the version 1,, I had ordered it just about the minute it came out. It was just too "fiddly" for me.. I spent days reading threads about what everyone was having to do to get them to work.. and I'm kinda lazy about that stuff.. just wanna fill and vape. I will say though, that I've been considering trying another one.. everyone says the newer ones work much better. I WILL try it eventually.. it's a fabulous design. I AM loving this Rocket though.. works FAR better than the old lavatube I had.

I might dissect 1 (of 2) and see what I can do to help it out. Is the center tube just held in by an o-ring? I noticed it would rock from side to side pretty easy....

It just sits over the bottom base, be careful putting it back on, there are two slots in the bade you gotta line up with the holes in the post when you put it back on.

OK, I've been thinking about my Scorpion experiences for today, and I'd like to post some concluding thoughts FWIW...

About the form factor: to have that sleek look with an eGo (which is what it seems to be designed for), it needs a short straight cone/thread cover, to compensate for the lack of a skirt. The current shorty thread cover is better than nothing, but it tapers, so it interrupts the straight line. Kinda defeats the purpose of matching sizes.

Performance-wise, I'll be frank: I am not impressed with it so far, and I mean that literally - it's meh. Not bad and not good. I seem to be having better luck with wicking than some, it hasn't given me a lot of grief in that department, unless I go over 4.2 V (its resistance reads at 3 Ohm). In fact, wicking is one thing that I'm rather impressed with, considering the configurarion. Vapor is fine. But the flavor just isn't good. It should be broken in by now - I've vaped over two tankfuls today. It hasn't made a lot of difference. Flavor is still weak, flat, and "dinky" - shifted towards the high end of the spectrum, sort of like a - forgive me - cheap speaker... Och, that sounds terrible, but I'm being honest here. And I suspect it doesn't have anything to do with the coil breaking in. I think it has to do with the very thing that makes it wick well - the abundance of wicking material. I think, like Robbie said in his reviews (of other cartos), that the wicks are filtering out the flavor - the heavier the wick, the more it filters. Maybe specific kinds of wicking materials make a difference, but there it it.

And I have to wonder if it is really worth it for GV to sell this, just judging from the introductory experience - which is what most consumers will judge by, let's face it... First impressions are important. GV's "niche" is cool new stuff - when it works, it shines. It's the "wow" factor. This is not "wow", and there really isn't much new about it... We seem to be going towards the modular stuff, and this thing looks modular, but isn't. It sort of works like a CE2 tank, but you can't replace the innards. It's convenient that the top comes off for filling, but that's about it, and the Stardust has that and does a way better job with the other functions. You already have CE2-type clearos that work much, much better. You already have CE2 tanks that work much, much better. Once you get the eGo-sized ViVi tank, you'll have something that look like this thing, but will perform and function with that "wow" factor without a doubt. Ditto for the modular Stardust.

There is nothing, really unique or interesting in this product, either in form factor, or in tech, or in performance - I may very well be wrong, of course, I am just not seeing it. It may be fine for other vendors, but it doesn't fit GV's profile, IMHO. And GV's profile is anything but meh... :D

And, yes, I know that I am a flavor fanatic, but I'd bet my last pair of underwear that the first thing you are going to hear about this puppy if it makes it into the wild, is complaints about lack of flavor...

Maybe I'm being too critical on the first day of testing, and, certainly, I'll keep trying, and if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the flavor, or shows me that I'm wrong in this, I'm all ears.

It just seems to me that it would be better for GV to invest time/money/effort into something with genuine better tech and, IMHO, lots of promise: the Tidy. I'd love to see that tested, and tweaked, and expanded, because the flavor is truly outstanding there, not just for the BC, but for any carto anywhere. It just needs some tweaking...

I hope I'm not being too forward or presumptuous by commenting on GV's business model, etc - I'm just trying to do my best for you guys.

For anyone interested, here's what is inside the VV Rocket:

Wow. Is that big flat thing an actual processor? What are the little bead-looking thingies? By "modder's delight", you mean you can use the innards for some out-of-this-world (literally) expression of personal creativity in PV-land? I must say, I haven't realized these things had quite so much circuit-boardry inside - though I probably should have, considering. Quite far from a "flashlight tube", as someone called a ProVari once, wondering why it was so expensive... :D

Note, I did NOT ruin my Rocket! I just was looking at it and for about the 100th time wishing the display was different (different color and not so bright) so I decided to see if I could tweak it. FWIW, I tried lighting gel (like used with stage lighting) but the friggin red just shines right through! I could get it slightly color shifted but not really enough to make a difference. The only 7 segment display I have is much larger so swapping out wouldn't work. So, back together it went as red and as bright as ever.

But yes, these guts could be repurposed easily into a different mod. However, what I want is the guts from a Twist to repurpose (a boost circuitry instead of the step-DOWN circuitry the Rocket uses). Heck, pair the Rocket's display and buttons with the Twists single battery boost circuit and it'd be sweet!

:D Paint it, Mike. Just paint it. Take some of that translucent (or semi-translucent) art glass paint, and make it as dim as you want, and whatever color you want - well, whatever color it comes out after it mixes with bright red... lol

Those look like some small gauge wires. Can you tell what size they are Mike?

I'm not sure but I'd guess 32g? They ARE tiny and I have some 28g that looks huge compared to this wiring!

LOL! I tried the lighting gel, I tried marker on packing tape and clear plastic, I even tried dry erase marker on the inside of display window, but none of them did more than ever so slightly tint the red. The color I added was noticable when the display is off, but the leds are so friggin bright they just shine right on through untainted. One thing I tried was Copic marker on both sides of clear plastic and that actually blocked the display almost completely. Copic on one side, no effect, but on both side, practically a blackout! I want a white (or bluish-white) display in mine, and preferablly one that won't have 747's veering my way!
