Just throwing a thought out there (and no laughing if I'm completely off target) regarding the lack of taste some are having with the Scorpion.

As there is so much wick in there could it be acting not only as a wick but as a filter as well. A certain amount of flavouring which normally gunks up the coils could now be being trapped the wick before reaching the coil.

I don't think you are off the wall, I was thinking the same thing.

Luvinit - I'll finish this tank and then try getting that queen wick out and see if it helps with the flavor - maybe less wicking material will mean less filtering and more taste.

Got my Scorpions yesterday. I'm just skeptical of the physics of the whole thing, i.e., how well the juice will travel up the wicks, especially if you are chain vaping. When first got it, I wet the coils from top and let it sit for 15 minutes--had some dry hits after a few hits. After leaving it sit overnight, it's working better. On the Twist, I keep turning it down as it seems to work better for me at lower volts (like 3.3). Not sure if this is something I'd personally want to purchase again, though.

I've mentioned on my videos before that I think some wicks may filter some of the flavor out. But not all wicks are created equal!

Yes, that was kind of a revelation to me, and it made an awful lot of sense - but, like we were talking about on the ViVi thread, there are a lot of variables - the size of the particles, the type and viscosity of the medium, the type and size of flavorant particles, and, of course, the material properties of the wick...

And, IMO, this is exactly why I like the shorter wicks

This is exactly what I thought!!! I had done the same thing with my Vivi,, there was four wicks in there, I took out the one that just laid there on the top and it seemed to work better for a bit, but I could never get it to NOT give dry hits. I'm hoping for better luck with this one,, so far, so good!

I really wanna try the Rocket. I love my Buzz's but they are so heavy to carry around. I hope there is one left for me next Thursday, :)

This thing really is very light.. which surprised me, a lot. It looks like it would be really heavy, but truly is not. It's no heavier than my Twists.. big plus for me. That lavatube was like carrying around a rocket launcher (no pun intended!)

Briar.. I'm glad you're having good luck with the Scorpion,, I'm anxious to hear if taking that big honkin wick out of there improves it even more for you.

Hello everyone :), I am just now getting a chance to come on this thread today and before I start to read what others have to say about there Scorpian's I figured I should say how mine has been acting.

First off, I have been finding it hard to vape much because I can not stand dry hits. I never really had the chance to get thru my first fill because I get one good hit and then after that dry hits ( not like burnt ) just does not seem to be wicking good. I am not given up on it, I am going to keep vaping it in-between my other set ups I have.

I did try tipping it so the juice goes up to the top hoping mybee some juice would end up in the coil area but know luck.
I also noticed last night that it was leaking a tiny bit on the outside of the bottom of the plastic tube, it had to have seeped out inbetween the tube and the bottom metal portion of it. Like I said it was only a tiny bit so I wiped it with a tissue and took it of my pv and put it in a sm bowl with tissue under it all night. There was nothing there this morning so I think it seems to happen while it is being vaped. But it is not enough of a leak to even be bothered with as long as it does not get worse.
Well that's it for now, I am going to go back and see how everyone else is making out.

OK, I have a confession...I am afraid to order this Rocket because it has stacked batteries. Isn't there a problem with stacked batteries exploding? Does having protected batteries 100% solve that problem??

There is no problem with stacked batteries if you follow 3 rules.
1. Always use protected batteries.
2. Don't mix your sets of batteries once started. Mark Set A, Set B on the bateries.
3. The PV should have a vent hole at the bottom, away from your face. Not sure on the Rocket, mines in the mail.

I can tell you I have been vaping my home made Sev~Vari I for 2 months with no problems. It has stacked 18650's

My Rockets in the mail. Any chance for additional pictures? Also curious what type of batteries it takes. Do they have a mAh rating on them?

Thanks,
Sev

Tipping won't do anything because it draws juice from the bottom. There are apparently wicks down the center tube which draws juice up to the top.

I personally have had no leaking issues. The poly material seems a little weak to me and the gasket seal appears fairly thin as well so could just be that some leak due to quality issues.

Though the flavor may be muted, I haven't found it to be severe enough to turn me off to the device. However, my impression stands that it is not a great device for the chain or heavy vaping user. It just seems to me to take too long to have the juice travel up the wicks once you vape it dry. More casual or light users may find it fine, though.

Ooh! Didn't know 18650s would fit in an Altoids tin. Yummy!

It took some work, but got them in there. There is no epoxy in there, and the only hot glue is at the base of the 510 (inside) and under the volt meter.

Well, there's a very real possibility that these tanks can't handle some juices. I honestly didn't even think about it since I have been using Phoenixes so much.

This tank had VB Green Apple in it overnight.

pic1.jpg

It was kept upright all night long but the cracks developed at the top. If it's the plastic's reaction to that type of juice, that seals the deal for me. I avoid getting any cartos that might limit which juice I can use in them. But, it might be due to the lid being tightened too much or something. It's not leaking, but I don't have it filled to the point that the juice reaches it. I can only use it occasionally because it's barely wicking at all. I'm gonna try what someone suggested and take the big wick out. I'm guessing that's the one sitting on top of the coil, right?

If the tube cracks too much, I wonder if I can trim the wicks and stick the cup into one of the Phoenixes my uncle killed. Hmmm... :vapor:

If these things were bottom coil with sturdier plastic, I'd be all over it. But they'd just be a different type of Phoenix
