See that everybody, its amazing what a little tinkeling will do. The Rocket lives again!!!

EDIT : Oh, wait a minute Danno said he was a tinkeler right? I seem to be having e placement problems lately, or is it l placement?
Sorry I couldn't help myself its getting late and I'm at like 100 posts today.

Excellent - congrats! You are now an official Tinkerer! Not, absolutely NOT "tinkeler" - hear that, Kwalka? We are all tinkelers, as opposed to tinkerers, who are special. So there.

Do correct me if I am wrong, but, did you not just reverse your correction?

Yep, sure did! Just goes to show: one should not get involved in philosophical discussions so close to midnight. :D Gonna go fix it now... (grumble, grumble)

Waaaaaaait!!! No, no, you are wrong! Everyone tinkles, but only special people tinker - that's what I meant!

Oh, man, it really is late...

Norman, Ok
Well we do have the VV pass through about to hit our mailboxes... I had mine shipped 1st class so it won't be here until around the 10th according to USPS...

Still there isn't much to report on these... they either work nor not depending on the power source used etc and either feel nice in the hand or not... Hopefully the limited numbers on this batch will be enough to get a good sampling on the quality etc

Yeah, I am not really anticipating any trouble with these, but we'll see soon enough. They sure look nice though. I also like the fact that the cable looks nice and beefy.

Yeah, I really hope that people not being able to crank up the voltage on a standard downstream USB 2.0 port on their computer doesn't skew the results and make it seem like it's a bad product if it isn't. :( My recommendation to everyone who ordered these would be to try a USB wall charger from your smart phone or tablet if it doesn't perform well when using your computer before deciding and posting here that it doesn't work very well.

I am brand spankin' new to the Alpha Program so the PT is my first purchase, but is 20 really that limited of a quantity for a beta test? I'm not being sarcastic, I'm seriously asking! I would think that GV would lose their butts buying 100 of these and then selling them so cheap, but like I said I'm brand new to the program so maybe they do have mass quantities normally for Alpha products...

Actually they got only 20 of these...

That is a pretty small sampling in typical testing but we need to remember that there would have also been other testing before GV's batch... GV also has carried the Vorando and may have based the numbers of these selected based on the sales of the Vorando

Please note, I'm only guessing at one possible reason for the lower numbers they got... and they had stated this ( the amount ) when they first mentioned they were going to get them...

PorscheGuy, would a powered USB hub be sufficient? I am not really sure what kind of charger to use. I don't have a smartphone or a tablet. I do have all the chargers from the eGo kits lying around - would those do?

I have no intention of plugging this directly into my computer.

Ah sorry, I thought I remembered it being 30. Will edit my post.

Well unfortunately Briar that's where things get tricky with USB stuff. :( A typical downstream USB 2.0 port is only 500mA which should power the lower voltage settings just fine, and powered USB hubs allow a dedicated 500mA to each port as opposed to that 500mA being shared between all devices plugged into a non-powered USB hub. Now that being said, SOME computers and powered USB hubs might also have a special USB Charging Port that can actually go to 1500mA, but it's rarely labeled for some reason and you would have to check the tech specs of your particular model of USB hub. If you want to post the manufacturer and exact model number from the sticker on the bottom I can try and look for you.

The other option, and I feel stupid for not knowing what they're called (BAD IT GUY!!!) but I have one at work, is a USB y-cable, like a splitter except that it works in reverse where it has 2 male USB ends that go into 2 USB ports and one female USB connector that the device plugs into and it provides twice the power to the device, which would provide 1000mA on USB 2.0 and 1800mA on USB 3.0.
