Exciting stuff goin on!! I'm very tempted to get that Rocket.. I don't have much experience with vv and the stacked batteries make me a little nervous.. should I be nervous about that?? I guess if it wasn't ok to do, they wouldn't be out there for sale, right? At that price, it's hard to pass up.. bet I pull the trigger by the end of the day :)

Bad, I'm not sure if you mean only for folks with tech equipment and mindset to look at those. What I'm thinking, FWIW, non-tech "average Joe-shmoe consumer" opinion is probably of value as well? Just remarking on comments made by a couple of folks here...

@ Luvinit: About stacked batts. Statistically, I think "official" ECF opinion, from reading posts on battery safety, stacked batts are more dangerous than single ones. And, with the single ones, the bigger the batt, the safer it is for vaping.

That said, if you follow all the safety precautions: make sure to use only protected batteries if they are Li-Ion ("safe-chemistry" batts - IMR - don't use that, but all the other precautions apply to them as well); make sure both batts are charged the same amount, that both batts are of the same kind, that there is no visible damage, that they are the same age, that you don't over-discharge them or over-charge them, that you use a good quality charger, and that you haven't dropped them or otherwise abused them accidentally, the statistics are in your favor, though still not as good as for single batts.

As I understand it (I don't use stacked batts, and probably won't in the future, because I'm terribly absent minded, and keeping track of them is something I might very easily screw up), people buy batteries for stacked configuration in pairs, mark them somehow, and use that pair for the rest of it's like without ever breaking it up. They also rotate them as far as which one is on top.

Here are a couple of links for battery safety:

Honolulu, Hi
nothing wrong with a stacked batt VV mod. it's more a matter of the protection that is implemented into the PV. I'm running a Buzz Pro which has a similar concept. Just take care of your batteries and pv. use protected batts for that extra bit of security or use IMRs. Also do your research on batts before buying any mod. knowing is half the battle :)

You will be surprised at the 'feel-heft' of this unit. With the bright looking colors it can fool you (when I first saw these before Chris shipped me one, I was thinking, 'cheap')...but instead I was really really impressed. Good solid feel in the hand, nice, almost perfect size and feel for a VV...the great thing about these is that it does away with the 'fancies'. It has two dedicated buttons on the side that are solely for voltage up/down...no menus to work through...

Well, I ordered it.. it says it comes with batts and charger and I don't have anything else that will be remotely like it so keeping track of them shouldn't be an issue. I have an epower that uses 18650s so no chance I'll get them mixed up. It still makes me a tad nervous, but I'm very careful about these batteries.. never charge when I'm not here watching them. For the price, it looks like something I can use at home and save my Twists for out and about. I thought it was worth a shot.

Briar.. I agree about the average Joe-shmoe consumer,, that's what I consider myself to be. In the beginning, I had told bad and danno how great an idea I thought alpha to be, but that I felt I was too 'green' to be of much value.. but I'm in anyway so I'm guessing noobs might just have some value! I think as a noob, I can speak to other noobs... I know how much I research my purchases, and I pay very careful attention to reviews. I'm hoping to make things maybe a tad easier for the ever growing army of noobs.

I also ordered one of the Scorpion tanks.. they look VERY interesting. I'm not a fan of the stardusts so always on the lookout for something new in a tank style.

Well, I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed about those stacked batts.. for the price, if I don't like it,,, it won't break the bank.

I like the idea. Does one have to have the sort of money to participate in this frequently? Money's tight and while I'd love to get in on the alpha program (been a Gotvapes customer since last summer) I don't have a whole lot of free money to throw around at the moment, but I'd still like to participate when I can.

Also, didn't notice a response to RockinRobbieSF, but are we allowed to review these publicly provided the disclaimer that it's an alpha test that may not be generally available to the public is in place?

so does the rocket come with 2 batteries or 4 batteries? and are the cartomizers filler types? I got 2 lavatubes recently in a coop and I'm less than impressed with the quality on the things, so I'm betting the rocket is much better in that regard.

I have never seen a mod (oops, excuse me...APV) that comes with 4 batteries....and at half price, I'm pretty sure they aren't going to throw you extra bats. I think we have to keep in mind here that we are getting a great deal, and not start getting picky....

there is no upfront cost to participate in the alpha program. you are not bound to any purchases. if you apply (and are approved) by sending a pm to adrena or keelalagirl55, you can buy the alpha products at a deeply discounted prices. if you are accepted and try the products out, no whining is allowed :)

there are no hoops to jumps through.

Well, we *are* supposed to discuss the ones we get in this thread and give feedback - that's the whole idea. :)

actually, every kit i've seen comes with enough batteries so you can always vape. from riva and Ego kits to lava tubes. this one uses 2 stacked batteries at a time so therefore the question of whether it only comes with 2 and you have to charge up before using it again or if it comes with 4 so you can charge one set while you are vaping.

as for the cartos, they look like filler cartos, so I was curious if that is the case. I don't think its picky asking for a description?

I've had a VV Rocket for a couple weeks now, do you want a few review?

To me, it looks a little wonky with a Stardust on it (and requires an adapter):

It looks MUCH better with a Vivi Nova (next to a 650 Twist with Stardust):

BUT, the Rocket is surprisingly light weight and the Nova adds considerably to the total weight. Also, I've noticed that the Nova can be finicky getting it to work on the Rocket. I'm not sure why, but it seems every couple of hours I have to unscrew and rescrew the Nova to get it to fire. This doesn't happen with anything else on the Rocket, nor does it happen with the Nova on anything else. Weird!

Here's The Rocket with a Phoenix on it:

Sizes.jpg

Size wise, I like the Rocket's diameter and weight. It makes me wonder why the Twist for instance doesn't come in a 1000mah size that is as short as the 650, yet larger in diameter? It's not like the Twist (or any ego) is cig sized anyway, so a little larger diameter to add extra battery runtime, without extra length, would be a no-brainer!

Anyway, if you want a detailed review of the Rocket I can write something up.
