Ya ok makes sense. I'm good at talking out of my but :) Perhaps a difference in regulation method can cause the difference in performance. I know there is a subjective difference between my provari at 3.3 and an ego at 3.3

My guess would be the accuracy of the voltage reading. Also the eGo is suppose to be 3.3v but could have some variance. To compare apples to apples, you would need an accurate meter to verify voltage at the 510 on both. Also there can be variance in the 510 connection on the PV. What kind of metal is it. How well does it seat. This is because you can introduce additional resistance based on the physical connection. Many many factors, but step up, step down or PWM just supply a specific voltage.

Sev, I have built a few CE2 tank mods, but those still have to use the gasket to prevent fluid from flooding the coil and from going into your mouth. The Scorpion has no gasket or seal to speak of, and even if the top cap were to seal the tank from the tube, there is nothing to seal the coil from the inner tube. The center portion of the cap doesn't go down far enough to even think about sealing the ceramic. The center tube must be designed not to fill (like a bottom coil) or it is just a very poor execution on a silly design. Which it is, I don't know. I do know that is why these POS are in Alpha testing. I am looking forward to make them into the very design you speak of, using an old seal from a CE2 and an o-ring. I do love the screw off cap. Very nice and easy to fill.

On the other hand, I have actually missed the Rocket while it was waiting for battery charging. I left the batteries on for about 9 hours, and it never turned to green, but they measured 4.20 off the charger after resting. I have to say if there are any left come next order, I will order another one just to have or to give away. It's a virtually idiot-proof VV.

Yeah I am holding my opinion of the Scorpion until I receive mine. But from what I am reading and looking at pictures of the device, I am wondering if this is not a primitive ViVi Nova. Meaning the Nova is a few steps further in the evolutionary chain already?

i used to make tanks just like that and they work amazingly well. but there is a better way then what she does. use a luer lock syringe and drill out the luer lock connector from the inside with i think a 11/16 drill bit then the ce2 clearo will snap into this as if it were the original tube. use the clearo tube for the top part so when you insert it into the tank and over the ce2 seal you can see what is going on and adjust the seal and wicks accordingly. if not for the visions and now phoenix bc and vivi nova i would still be making and using syringe tanks as they were darn solid (if you had the right plunger seal to make the top - not all are created equal) performed very well and lasted almost forever even though they were cheap enough (under a buck) it didnt hurt to loose or throw one away.
ah here is a really old pic i found of a super great big one i made just for illustration purposes. it really is too big to use. the syringes come in like 4 or 5 usable sizes with xl or short ce2 which gave like 10 options for 1.5 to say 12 ml tanks

Hey Briar, if you pull the center tube out (quite easy) you will find one loose fat wick (the one going over the coil) and 3 small wicks which are wrapped in the coil. Not stuffed tight, but that was what I was kind of thinking before I got one as well. I'm wondering if they would have used the fat wick instead of the 3 small ones if it would have worked better. After all, it is just a CE2 in a tube. But, i find that the CE2's start to lose wicking ability once they get low. I actually have been chopping the wicks on some of my Fluxo's short and using them like a mini-Stardust.

You just gave me an idea and I might try this later. Would it be possible to flip the tube upside down, trim the wicks and use it like a stardust?

As for the wicks, I pulled the top wick out of the one that cracked and the coil was completely empty. Not sure what's going on there. I need to get the tube out to see if they're just hanging 'cause it's hard to see in the tube and I've been totally distracted by Photoshop lately.

One other thing: what do you guys use to thread wicks through coils? I've tried twisting them tight and just pushing them through but it doesn't work. I have some sewing needles on hand but haven't gotten around to trying them. They have a sort of hook at the end instead of a little hole to thread them, so it probably wouldn't be hard to push a wick into it.

Just got my VV Rocket and Scorpion. 1st visual impression is "super sexy". The picture on the web site doesn't do it justice.

BonnyC, if you push the center tube to the side it will break free. Then work it back and forth and it should pop out quite easy. If there is nothing in the coil, you got yourself a bad unit for sure!

You could use it like a Stardust as long as you could figure out how to seal the mouthpiece to the tube or ceramic. But someone stated earlier that the bottom of the tube fits on a certain way, so you would have to modify the top of the tube. I have not checked this out, I just put it back together after pulling the big wick.

I'm thinking of pulling the tube, cutting slots in the side of it, trimming down something to cap the ceramic and wicks from the mouthpiece, and putting a small o-ring in the cap to prevent the tank from leaking into the center. Put it all back together and let it rip. Now just to find the time!

Got my rocket today and wow! its so much smaller than I expected. Tried one of the tanks that was included and all I can say so far is EEEWWWW. Gonna let it soak for a while and try it again later. Need to check out one of these scorpions but can't really get around much. Sever sciatica is crippling me atm.
