catch up thoughts ...

.... I also believe the E1 & E3 use the same head ....
the E1 ROCKS !! & it very well built & gorgeous on a SS Batt !

Lighted craft magnifier lamp is the way to GO !! I could NOT work on this stuff without mine :D

I am a heavy vaper & the C9 is having air flow issues today (think I'll enlarge air hole),
when I have it apart it makes what looks to be a ton of vaper ,
but all together it is not letting enough air thru it to produce much vapor at all.
The wick is nice & wet tho ...so the small wick in the spike is doing its job .
And the EGO batts are working today ???
well ...the SE RIVA's now flash  I have GOT to find the meter !

alas .......it's Casino Night so I gotta GO ....taking a C8 & E1 ...

After about a week with an Apollo 6ml tank and the CE9 here are my experiences.

Apollo 6ml - I filled it up making sure not to go past the wicks and started vaping. Vapor production was good but I found the flavors a bit muted compared to say a Vivi Nova. I think the Vivi Nova is a bit muted it's self; but I'm not really a top coil fan. I like the look of the Apollo tank but it wasn't long before it started gurgling and the air flow got really tight. Kept vaping and the gurgling didn't go away. Eventually I saw some juice coming out of the bottom of the ego connection. This seems to be on par with what others have experienced. I tried pushing the bottom pin in as one poster here suggested but it didn't really have any effect. I didn't order a replacement stem but I did get a jumbo 10ml tank. Since I wasn't going to waste 10ml of liquid on it if it was going to perform like the 6ml; I decided to disassemble it to see what in the design could be causing this.

I found, upon removing the coil and wick assembly, that the positive lead is attached to an insulated wire that runs down through the stem and attaches to the center post at the bottom. The positive end of the coil is run through a pin hole in the silicon that the coil sits on. Similar to the fill hole on the Phoenix BCs. This insulated wire has some slack in it and I could imagine that if some juice were to get in the stem it would coat the wire and run down it to collect at the bottom. This could lead to both the gurgling and the leaking. The gurgling could also be caused or added to by any "bubbles" created between the wire and the side of the stem. liquid adhering to the wire could also explain why blowing it out doesn't seem to do me much good. All of that is speculative as I haven't disassembled the 6ml yet. I plan to do that this coming week to observe how wet the positive lead actually is. It wouldn't matter much if I could keep liquid from getting in there in the first place.

The gurgling/leaking seems to get worse after it's tipped. I try not to do this but I'm in the habit from the vivi nova. The nova has never gurgled on me though. I'm thinking maybe there's too much of a gap left by the silicon boot at the top that holds the "pip". I'll see if I can do anything about that before I dissemble it. I don't think I'd buy one of these at retail price if it didn't get some revisions.

CE9 - out of the "box" it was a fuzzy mess. I decided to go ahead and try it like that just for the sake of being thorough. I primed the wick assembled it all and got about 4 decent hits before it went dry and stayed dry. Then I tried running a piece of replacement wick down the tube and under the wick. That was tricky to accomplish and didn't produce any better result. Plus I pretty much frayed and ruined most of my replacement wick. I just wasn't getting any juice at all from the tank to the atomizer. I let it sit for a few days and when I picked it up again I noticed the positive side of the coil had broken off. I decided to take the fat wick from the 10ml Apollo that I had taken apart and recoil it. I double wicked it at the atomizer and left one side long. On the long side I took one wick and ran it back under the coil between the posts and the other end I took up through the center post on the head. I threaded it through buy straightening a paperclip then folding about 1/4 of an inch back on its self so the double portion would fit through the center hole. I ran the paper clip through the top. Then I opened my bend just enough to slide the wick in and bent it back tight. Then I pulled the paperclip and wick back through. Trimmed it off at the diagonal of the spike and assembled the rest. I put it on my kicked silver bullet for the circuit protection, just in case and voila! I got vapor! I had even forgotten to prime the wick before putting everything together!

I've only had time to vape on it for a little less than half a tank but it's performing respectably. Not great clouds of vapor, not perfect flavor; but it could just be breaking in. I'll update more as I use it. I think I'll try a cotton wick next but I only have enough wire left for one more coil.

E3 - Is in the trash bin. When I tried to read the ohms on it I got nothing. So, I set my multimeter to continuity mode and it showed an open circuit.

here's the post for the pt Gary

I went back and found it, thanks though :). I hope it won't be too much more expensive than it was in alpha, that was one of the main attractions for me haha. I suppose it'll still be worth it at $15-20. I've got a 10,000 mAh battery pack with USB ports... toss that into my laptop bag and I have the largest capacity e-cig ever? hehe.

just ordered the CE9 and a smoktech hyper SRT (ah finally, things that were meant to be rebuildable). Getting tired of inconsistent CE2 assembly from microcig anyway and figured if they are doing that shoddy of a job then i should just get something meant to be rebuilt and i can do the shoddy job myself.

I imagine that if the CE9 gets out of alpha it would be a 15-20 dollar atty. Depending on how quick i can get it up and running i say that would be a fair price (a lot better than spending 70 euro on getting abully a2-t anyway). I imagine that people can get away with charging the CE9 as much as 30 dollars and if it doesnt take too much to get up and working than i will send my ego-c to my mom in California...

ah the waiting game!

Ok played with the ce9 for a couple days but cannot get it to wick enough with the T tank/tip it comes with. Have used a few different wicks in the spike but pretty much get the same results. So I decided to make this a long lasting dripping machine, here's what I did.

Ran a wick through the spike. You can also just remove the spike but I wanted to see if this would work first.

Make sure the wick from the coil is long enough to make contact with the wick in the spike, or make a new coil with long wicks. The longer the wick the more juice that can be dripped without leaking.

Finding a driptip that would fit was next, most of my tips won't fit besides ego-t tanks but I did find one in my stash that works... The rubber driptip from a dual coil clear mega XL carto fits and allows dripping without removing the tip. I now drip in 20 drops of juice, (about .5ml), and vape away for quite a while. The long wicks soak up the juice and prevent any leaking or flooding, gravity and capillary action does the rest.

You can also just use the T tank/tip it comes with and remove the bottom so it does not interfere with the wick, but you have to remove the tip to drip liquid in.

So, to summarize, I basically just added wick to the spike and replaced the drip tip and turned this thing into a dripping machine that holds about half a mil of juice in the wicks. This is actually working better for me than the Phoenix Bully, I like it a lot!

Ok, time to play with the SRT, I just love new toys!

So I’ve been through about 3 tank fills on the C9, and I’m still trying to sort out my opinion about it. On the one hand, I’m pleasantly surprised, but on the other hand, it’s pretty easy to exceed expectations that start out at ground level. Given the reviews and the whole crud-encrusted wick thing, my opinion really had nowhere to go but up. Here’s a quick run-down of my impressions so far.

Build Quality and Ease of Use: The unit appears to be well built. It has a nice, heavy feel, it threads nicely (bad threads are a pet peeve) and seals well. The design is uncomplicated, so while it disassembles enough to clean thoroughly, it doesn’t just dissolve into a pile of random-looking bits that require a schematic to put back together. Installing the wick and coil is simple in concept, but wow … those screws are small. Nano screws. Drop one, and it’s gone forever. Folks with bad vision (like me) or dexterity problems may have some trouble with them.

Performance: Nothing new to add, here. Out of the box, it’s a fail. I put a piece of wick (from my too-cracked-to-use E3 freebie) in the spike, and that got it going. I also reamed out the hole in the tank stopper some, and that made it a little better. With both a 50/50 pg/vg juice and whatever Bounty Hunter is, at whatever voltage the yellow dot on my iPro is, and by still doing the occasional primer toot to keep the juice flowing, it’s … you know … decent enough. The flavor of the juice is muted and the tank (too small) gives it a plastic-y taste, but that seems to be dissipating. I would like to try the SS mesh to see if that makes a big difference, or I may just take the spike plate out and use this as a dripping atty. Then again, I have a Phoenix XL, so why bother with any of it?

Verdict: It’s not great, but it works. It’s the kind of thing I would use for an emergency nic fix, but not for the pleasure of a good vape. I’ll keep it on hand, though, in case the feds get out of control or the Mayans turn out to be right, or just because of the delusion that I might Do Something With It (no tools and no skills, but hey, it could happen).

Wanted to chime in with a little C9 info. I'm such a noob when it comes to this modding stuff, but I managed to run a wick through the spike and under the coils. It helped, but not really enough in the end. I've since removed the spike as someone mentioned earlier and I've dripped in it some. Seems to work much better that way. The flavor is still sort of strange so I'm gonna try my hand at re-wicking it.

What I really wanted to share was the mouthpiece I'm using for dripping. The old C8V3s we tested have been sitting in my junk drawer for a while and I came across them when I went hunting for a mouth piece that might fit the c9. Now, they certainly aren't a perfect fit and you have to take them out to drip into the thing, but they DO fit. If I put a little force behind pushing it in, it's somewhat snug. It could be better, but works fine as it is. I have noticed the strange icky taste from just using the plastic mouthpiece that came with the c9. Eww.
