I think I've found the secret to steeping. You just mix so much over 3-4 weeks that you can't possibly try it all in any hurry.......LOL. I really need the get to my first run of boozy flavors........I've filled a tank.............
I leapfrog mine. I made a 1 liter PST and 300 ml of various others. When they get about halfway gone I make another batch. Gives my new batch about 1 1/2To 2 months to steep. The last time I messed up and didn't make it soon enough and my tobaccos didn't have enough time to properly steep. They are good now and I am back on schedule.

So over the weekend I sampled some juices that I've been steeping, all about a week old. The tobacco was pretty good but I'm going to let it steep another week. I'm vaping the apple honeysuckle now though and I think it's basically ready, it's pretty good. Problem is I've been vaping a lot of apple for a week now and it's starting to get old. So to get my fruit fix this idea for a recipe came to me this morning:

5% Raspberry
3% Blackberry
(2% Ethyl Maltol?)
1% Koolada

So, suggestions? I don't have the raspberry and blackberry in stock yet, so I can get whatever brand. Is 1% Koolada too much? Not enough? How much sweetener will I need?

I dont have a particular raspberry I like so I blend INW and TFA sweet raspberry, TFA blackberry is pretty good. Im not a fan of EM(cotton candy) most of the time because of its muting properties but it can help smooth the edges of some fruits. Maybe start at .5 and move up. 1% koolada would be a good starting point. If you use the EM I would try it without a sweetner

I mixed this 3 weeks ago

    ORANGE TOBACCO RUM
    AP .5%
    FW Blood Orange 1%
    VT Rum 3%
    Pur Sweet Tobacco 4%
    FA Toasted Almond .5%

The VT Rum is very weak and has no boozy flavor to me but it works as is in this recipe.

The Pur Sweet Tobacco is very mild and I may do a remix using Hangsen Ry3. I'm going to give this more steeping time first.

Despite that issue this is very tasty, everything seems to blend together quite well. I'm expecting it to get even better.

I've essentially been using the EM as a sweetener so far and haven't really thought about it having muting properties. What else makes a good sweetener?

Are the raspberries and blackberries you use pretty tart? I found that EM basically turned sour apple into regular apple. I'll want to take some of the tartness off of the berry if it has it. If they have sweetness to them already I probably wouldn't use a sweetener aside from EM.

So (mainly cause I got tired of apple) I pulled a sample of my other tobacco mix that I hadn't tried yet. This was basically the same recipe as before, except it uses Cap Caramel instead of TFA RY4D, and it doesn't have the chocolate in it (so it is truer to the original recipe I based it on). This probably needs more steep time, I'm not really digging it. Tobacco was stronger using RY4D instead of caramel and I'm finding I actually like that better despite not usually being a fan of tobacco as a standalone flavor. And there's some flavor in there that isn't playing nice with the others, I think maybe it's the pecan. Maybe that will steep out, but I'm kicking around the idea of reducing the pecan next time I make this. Maybe 1-1.5% instead of 3%. And I definitely miss the chocolate, it goes well in this.

I'm also tinkering with the idea of adding a teeny bit of raisin. It could be disgusting, but I did say this mix reminds me of pipe tobacco. Aromatic pipe tobacco usually has a small bit of a raisiny smell. It might work.

Are you sure it's not the ry4D? It has a sharp unpleasant taste to me. I don't like it at all.

No, this is the one without RY4D. It has Cap Caramel in it instead. Could be the caramel but it's not a "caramelly" taste. In any case I liked it better with the RY4D.

My mistake. I'm no help with caramel either. Can't taste it.

No problem. I don't think it's the caramel because this seems like a nutty taste, which nutty should be good with everything that's in there but it's just too strong. Maybe it wil steep out but I think I'm going to cut back the pecan next time. Or use a different nut. I just ordered from ECX and got some hazelnut.

One thing ECX didn't have was a raisin flavor. I thought someone mentioned one, but is there such a thing?

Only one I found but it sounds good.
