Ordered 500ft from Sallys. I'm perfectly content with KGD but what peaked my interest is, one of my DIY juices gunks like crazy. Hoping this will help. I was always dubious of the safety with rayon but I appreciate the safety info at the beginning of this thread...put me at ease.

With cotton, I get spitback sometimes especially if I overstuff the coil a bit. How is spitback with Rayon, since it is so tight in the coil?

Yeah, vast majority of people find not need to rinse it at all and we didn't.. Cause pretty soon it's way better than cotton. Some have more sensitive buds and would like less breakin. But knowing all other kinds, u can tell Sallys isn't as good, but still better than cotton. I have rinsed it and it reduces break-in taste and kinda presmooths the fibers. Seriously I think there will be an excellent option coming soon, hint hint. Think I found it.

Tidi large is good but you have to order a case of it. Delasco consumer catalog is another option for medium balls. Sally is in every medium Sized town. Also many places selling small portions of sallys from eBay to origin vapes. (link a page or two back.)

By rinsing I literally mean just a little, or dipping in bowl, nothing extravagant, and setting on towel to dry.

It can pop like crazy with nutzo vapor, but it tames down after a few days, and then you can keep going for weeks or even months.

Gunker juices will still gunk. At a slower pace but the problem is sugars being overheated or far too much flavor.

Hear this, rayon offers an increase in flavor clarity that deems reducing flavoring by up to a 1/3. So thin that gunker with 1/4- 1/3 nic base. You get about the same flavor or better still than cotton and it won't glaze the sugars as much. Each juice can have a maximum temp before glazing so you may need a little less temp, which rayon will provide to start with.

I hear you on the longevity, but spitback is my number 1 enemy in vaping...

Excited to try it out, though :thumb:

I don't always get popping but when I do I like it. Raising the wattage will help because if you run at cotton wattage /Temps, the coil will be too wet, which you know causes spit back. So crank it up. I recommend to just blow through the atty a few times on first firing to get it cleared up. Oils from your skin can get on the wick and transfer to the juice for a while, so wash up well.

The op basically has everything you need, read the important parts again. It's quite a bit to get your head around as its opposite to cotton.

I don't use regulated mods - I suppose I could build lower, but I've been there, done that, and don't intend to raise my wattage beyond what I vape at now. I'm in the .75-.9 range. I am down to experiment as needed within that range :)

BTW blowing through the atty is a great tip, as it seems for me, especially with twisted wire builds, the popping and spitting is most pronounced on the first vape or two after it has been sitting for a while.

You know, I actually NEVER thought about that fact. I DIY my juice and have always wondered why certain recipes get such hyped reviews that to me, are just plain gross and over flavored. I will definitely give the 1/3 rule of thumb a shot on my next mix.

Thanks @JeremyR!

Sitting down, facing forward.
I split out what I think I need then roll it gently between my palms to make it round. Then, gently "comb" it with my fingers to get everything nicely aligned, twist one end into a "needle" and thread it through the coil.

I think a good way for newbies it to go ahead a take the piece twist it tight and see how the size lines up to the coil diameter. You want it even with outside diameter of coil. Then you can untwist and wick or keep it twisted to help though.. This is better than a wick that's too loose.

The "squeak" is still my key to having the density right. If it's too loose a little can be added or, alternately, rayon is cheap enough that you can just grab another piece and start over again until you get that tell-tale squeak.

Easiest way is probably. Making the recipie with room for 1/3 Nic base. That way you don't have to break all the ingredients down. Just cut finished product. Ymmv

Wouldn't the tcr values for ss316l already be defaulted in ss mode?
They are a little different for the different ss types... The koopor plus came with ss 304...

I was going to get some more cotton pads but, after talking with suprtrkr about Rayon, I thought, my wife used to do hair. She has a closet full of color, scissors, perm stuff, combs and brushes galore, even a couple of mannequin heads and thought just maybe she has this stuff.

Sure enough, after some digging, there was a pretty full box of cellucotton in there.

Going to try this stuff later but, I should be good on wick material for a while.

Hey y'all! Long time no see... sorry, I've been bouncing around a bit and have neglected my Rayonati Brothers and Sisters. (And I got sidetracked by those evil cCell ceramic coils!)

Well, I was recently gifted an SX350J Tmod from an insanely kind and generous friend. Said friend also included a pre-modded authentic Stumpy, and I've been completely blown away by this entire thing. I have been completely humbled and at the same time I cannot scrub this huge grin off of my face for anything!

So, it arrived to me with a coil and wick already installed. I vaped it on the cotton wick for a coupla days and was surprised that it was still a really good vape. Then yesterday I pulled it and rewicked with rayon. YUUUMMMMMMM!!! There's my FLAVOR!!!

No idea exactly what the coil is. I'm guessing twisted kanthal, but it reads out at 0.82Ω. Right now I'm pushing 50W through it and the rayon is begging for more. I guess I'll just shut up now and throw up a pic. This is after going through a bottle and a half in the Super Squonkin' Tmod!
