When I have this problem, I usually discover it was due to a certain woman "helping" me "organize" Funny how it's not really very helpful most of the time. Oh well, after nearly 20 years, I know her habits. Bottom cabinets, shelves in closets or my workbench in the garage are where I will usually find what I'm looking for. *sigh*
It was my wife who packed my rayon, I kept it in my build area. My preferred mandrels and kanthal are missing also. Luckily I had my roll of SS in my juice box so at least I can still build.

Hahaha...Yep! You exactly know what I'm talkin' about. I wish I could afford a man-cave with a retina scan enabled lock on the door. One of these days...

Careful what you wish for. You may wind up an eye short! :w00t:

Rayon is alright but I don't know that it's significantly better than Japanese Cotton. It wears about the same and I really can't notice any taste to either.
A source for Rayon is Amazon always has it in stock and not a bad price around $13 shipped for a Big Box shipped for Prime Members. That is where I got mine at, and Japanese Cotton, Cotton Bacon all from Amazon

I disagree, as do most everyone in this thread.

Rayon definitely handles higher heat without scorching like cotton. How many times have you really tested the durability of cotton?

Also I get much more longevity from rayon, easily over 50%. With this current juice I'm vaping I got about 3ml through KGD before it had fully fouled the wick and coil. I get about 15ml before the same happens with rayon and my coil is much cleaner but still needs attention when rewicking.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinions. However, I've been using rayon exclusively for over year until last week.
I stumbled across a brand new pack of KJD I'd forgotten about and hadn't opened, so just for grins and giggles, that's what I used on my next rewick. I immediately noticed a distinctly "earthy" note in flavor, and I only got 3 days before having to rewick again. That cotton was horrid looking after just 3 days. Wish I had taken pics I could use in this post!
Typically, I go 7-10 days on a rayon wick (that's 50-60 mls of liquid) before needing a change, and even then it's rarely underperforming.
Rayon for me, always.

Definitely everyone is entitled to their opinion. Although what you and I both state about longevity is a fact.

Let's take a moment to state a few rayon facts.

1) Better longevity.
2) Increased nicotine delivery.
3) Higher scorch temperature (higher temperature handling).
4) No wet sock taste, although a nuttiness can be imparted if rayon is too dense.

There are subjectives as well.

More concentrated flavor.
Sweetness increase.

If you enjoy Japanese cotton by all means use it, vape what you like is my motto. I have never went to a Japanese cotton thread and stated how rayon is better, even though it is in every way that matters to me.

There is a reason we all use rayon, generally it's performance. I am guessing here but I would say most of us have tried Japanese (or organic) cotton and found it lacking so much so that we use rayon instead.

If rayon doesn't outperform cotton in the ways I describe then you're incorrectly wicking your atomizer.

*edit*
I put my rayon pompoms away now, my arms are tired :)

Sometimes you have to build your coil to take advantage of the abilities or rayon. Different diameter, spaced coils, thinned tails, higher power, airflow, etc.

Not just the same old thing the same old way.
I never have, perhaps my style of building just fit right in with rayon. I could definitely see the possibility though.

I typically build twisted wire, 2.7mm or less diameter with a small space between wraps. Sometimes I build a tight microcoil with single strand.

I don't use any of the more in depth stuff, like alien staggered zippered dual square core super blue polished dragon wire. Those types of builds are amazing but I'm a simple man.

Been away from this forum for some time had many ups, downs & frustrations with vaping over the years but back to it now and finally once again off those stinky things.

What a mammoth thread! P1 & P2

I will start to go through both threads but as you can appreciate between the two its getting close to 900 pages.

I have read through a few pages here and there and am keen to get on the rayon band wagon and I have a couple of questions. I will appologise in advance if it's been asked before but so many pages and posts makes it hard to really find things.

There was mention of Tencel somewhere maybe P1? not really sure but did that end up being the fiber that is currently being used by the majority of people here?

I'm currently back in the motherland and would like to get hold of rayon/Tencel or what is now considered safe before heading back to Asia. I don't really trust what I would be getting over.

I see the sallys brand is popular here. I don't mind paying for a better quality of which ever product is the go to one

Is it possible for someone to point me in the right direction of where to purchase?

TIA

Sitting down, facing forward.
Tencel works, but the fibers are "stiffer" than Sally's or rayon from other sources. The "premium" product seems to be Delasco medical balls. I, personally, have used Sally's, Graham CelluCotton, since I started with rayon, cheap, easy to work with and easily available here in the States.

Hello, welcome and congrats on getting back to vaping. In the beginning on of the big points we noticed was a major reduction in daily problems we had with vaping. Leaks dry hits ect were all reduced to occasional snafus of empty tanks.

The original and best rayon is highly elusive and extremely difficult to find. The other sources have been whatever we can find. Basically no one uses tencel. I haven't since around post 300 in pt1.

Everything you need to know is pretty much consolidated in the detailed opening posts of this part two thread. And should cover it for you all at once. If reading back in pt. 1, around post 1000 we have everything sorted.

There is a list in post 5 or 6. Sally's being the cheapest by far, also noticeable as such, but still good enough to convert you to rayon, and better than cottons.

How long will you be in the states? Will you be able to wait to take shipment or do you have to pick up at a store due to time constraints.

If you happen to find a pic of one of these coils, could you please post it?!?!
