I'm just not sure if I'm supposed to make shorter tails or cut them into points to make them thinner. I think I have the density down. I put enough so the coil was moving a little when I slid it through. I'm getting muted flavor.
I have the Nano & I also cut about 50% off angled from bottom to with 1-2mm from end of coil, put through the wick holes only slightly pass the wick hole.

For the Nano I have the wick tight in the coil body (I can feel pressure sliding it, though it doesn't deform my twisted 26AWG), The tails I pretty much just chop 50% off of (the upper part of the tails). I then cut length so that when the tail is folded down to the liquid ports it is just barely inside them (so the ports hold the tails in place if the tank gets knocked around a bit) That means the inner edge of the tails will actually be a bit deeper into the wells, but I'm too lazy to really cut them even [emoji3]

For muted flavor you may need to adjust positioning. I use 2.5mm ID, twisted 26. For me I have the center of the coil body even with the middle of the posts (coil center at midpoint between the two grub screw holes). I then horizontally center the coil so the tails will drop directly down into the two eliquid holes. Other people get good results positioning the coil a bit higher vertically -- there's a little trial and error depending on your particular coil.

Once you get the coil positioning straight for your coil, it really is an excellent flavor tank [emoji106]
I pretty much have mine like yours.

Will the BD13 wicks keep up with 5sec pulls 25w in an Origenny? That's where I run mine with mesh.
I don't think they would, these are DiD, Cobra or RSST wicks using 30g or Ribbon. The wire has to be hot wrapped with a torch to eliminate hot spots. I can send you some if you want to try it out.

The Throat Hit is much more powerful with Rayon. I was a little worried at first so I searched the thread and this seems to be normal. I'm not getting an itchy throat like others have reported but it's only been one day of Rayon for me. I kinda like it but it's a little too harsh. I guess it's just something you get used to. It's almost reminiscent of a throat hit from a cigarette.

Even though I smoked on and off for 15 years, I always got a throat hit from cigarettes because I was never a heavy smoker. I didn't smoke more than a pack a week and the most I smoked was probably 6 months at a time with whole years of not smoking at all within that 15 year period.

The excessive throat hit and muted flavor you're getting can be caused by too low wattage. Rayon flows more juice than cotton and will stay over saturated if the wattage is too low. Turn up the power and experience what we're all raving about here!!

I've been turning the wattage down. I'll start turning it up today and see how it goes.

You may find you need to slightly lower your nic as well if you continue using rayon.

Ha ha yeah I was thinking about that last night. I've been using 6mg. The Power Nic Hits have subsided though.

Edit: How much do you guys saturate the rayon before vaping?

I drip and pulse the coils till they are totally saturated.

I squonk until fully saturated, then fire until close to dry. Then repeat. Then vape. Works great.

I have been following this thread for a while. I was very skeptical of switching to rayon, I'm so glad I did! It puts cotton to shame! One thing I first noticed was the flavor burst compared to cotton, in my dripper I can switch flavors and it takes on the new flavor almost instantly, providing the deck is almost dry. Unbelievable!
That is my favorite thing about rayon! I love being able to vape almost instantly after wicking with it! I tried using cotton a while back (from time to time I try using cotton just to remind myself how much I love rayon ;) ), and i did not keep it in very long. Yay to you for finding the rayon!

How thin do you have the tails? Mine & others above are 50% thinned no flooding.

I thinned them about 50%...maybe a little more. I even tried not thinning them at all. Either way, the Engine Nano floods. I had a little flooding with the Merlin RTA but it's been holding up so far. I didn't thin the tails at all.

What generally causes flooding? Too little or to much wick? Or both?

Any large RDA fans around? I was fortunate enough to win a GeekVape Medusa from the good folks at HG. Unfortunately I really am a single coil kinda guy, low power (25W), it looks like Medusa is optimal for duals and higher power than I use.

GV calls it an RDTA, but the things I've read indicate it really is effectively a pretty decent capacity RDA (not like a GV Avocado RDTA).

Just passing it along, a contest win. The only request would be to post about it (good, bad, or indifferent). Not a requirement, just nice to do.

To stay on topic, I'm sure it is best wicked with rayon [emoji3]

(I know some of the rayon crew like larger builds.)

Edit: success, looks like I found a Rayon Reviewer [emoji5]
I'm a large rda fan and would love to do a review and take it off your hands. To be fair I could trade a kayfun5 clone for it,just let me know.

I've never flooded so I don't know. Do you have any pictures? It's strange that you're flooding. Here's a pic of mine
