My rayon dancing is more like a waltz currently...I move the Ares to a VV Pulse mod and things settled down, it appears that my dna replay was getting confused like me.
Using rayon with 28/30 gauge usually results in a distorted coil....has anyone tried threading and reshaping the coil before installing on the atty?
I never had problems with it on 28 gauge. What kind of wire are you using?

Vandy vape 316L and pre-made coilmaster 316..getting a tight fit using rayon will colapse the coil...then I need to reshape/space the coil, also have problems getting 30ga to clamp with some attys...too thin.
Ah, spaced coils. Makes more sense now.

Spaced coils pop way too much for me. I have a spaced coil in one of my B2K squonkers at the moment only because it is an 8 wrap 24ga Ti coil under TC.

I find popping comes from loose wicks in the coil. Tighter equals less popping.

You can do 2 things with thinner wire coils and rayon. One is to roll the wick in palms first, making like a proper kind of wick (sort of like a candle wick) once its formed you can thread it . Once you have a little thru the coil , pull the short end while kind of screwing in the other side... once its thru, kind of untwist everything and refluff. Or you can half palm the wick and while pulling the wick thru, use a fingernail to stabilize the coil....or move to 26g and forgetaboutit [emoji3]

Spaced coils make more flavor... I tried my coils touching and the flavor was just not enough.
Spaced improves flavor and has other benefits also.
I use spaced and contact coils. Have both running in a few atty's all the time. And very honestly I am unable to detect a difference between the two flavor wise. Also have atty's wicked with rayon and cotton. As has been stated "to each, their own vape" - and that's the beauty of it all.

I agree to each their own. But i find with contact coils they are more finicky due to possible shorts. With spaced coils you dont have that problem.
:)

That's another good reason for spaced coils.

Sitting down, facing forward.
"Double insertion" - rather than one, full sized piece split that piece in half and insert one piece through each end of the coil. It will even out the pressure across the coil and can, note the word "can", mitigate coil distortion versus a single, full thickness wick being inserted from one end. It also makes it easier to make small adjustments to the overall thickness if you've over, or under, estimated the proper thickness.

I use both as well, just depends on my mood and I also cant tell the difference. I have sat there going back and forth trying to find a difference and could not....I could just be my taste buds, but I honestly doubt if you had 2 exact tanks, juice, etc and properly wicked both that one could really tell which one was which...now perhaps vaping a cloud monster at 100 watts a spaced might benefit, but at 15 watts, how can one taste that? I'm probably just not tuned in that precise....
