I have a neighbor who has been vaping well over a year. I let him have juice. He's always telling me how good it is. I have taken a hit off his gear lots of times and every time his wick is burnt. I have tried to help him understand but he just can't get it. But he's happy so I guess that's all that matters.

I have avoided getting into sub ohming. Looks like with SS I'll have to. What the hey, another adventure.

If you go single coil with a 3mm coil it appears you'd need around 11 or 12 wraps to hit 1 ohm. Dual coils would need double that many wraps to hit 1 ohm!

I was the first one to purchase Delasco balls for rayon wicking before Sally's was discovered as a source. I'm still using the same bag and I've probably still got nearly half the bag left. I can't imagine why anyone would use anything other than rayon for wicking.

+ 1

Thanks thayamax!

I'm really kind of a tootle puffer. I doubt I will ever need TC but who knows? I would have never thought I would be doing what I am now.

I don't see a reason why a "tootle puffer" can't take advantage of TC as well. By controlling the temperature, as well as power, it really can limit gunking on the coil. I was a tootle puffer for a long time, then found RBAs and ended up down at an ohm or so with dual kanthal coils. With titanium, it's really hard to not sub-ohm.

I'm getting a DNA200 for my wife, who's a tootle puffer, and plan on building a dual coil RBA with Ti and siica, just for her. I'll need to experiment a bit, I guess, to make it work at the levels she vapes at, but I'm sure I can make it work. If not, I'll have another DNA200, LOL.

LOL... oh, that's just wrong, man! Stick her with the silica just so you can keep the good wicks for yourself, huh? I guess that's one way to get rid of all the crappy stuff we don't wanna use! :D

No, not at all. She's tried my stuff with rayon and prefers the flavor from silica with the same liquids. It may be a function of the RBA versus traditional, multi-coil, tanks but I'm not sure so I'm guessing the rayon versus silica is the culprit. Besides, with a 500 foot box of Sally's I'm not likely to run out before I start pushing up the azalea bushes.

My thinking was that the biggest benefit of TC was avoiding dry hits. With low wattage vaping and now rayon wicking, I really see less need for it. Of course we are all different and to each his own. Somewhere down the road I may be extolling the greatness of TC. Time will tell.

My thought was, "A DNA200 for a tootle puffer? Aw, that's a way for him to get another mod.":)

LOL. Yeah, I'm familiar with the 500 foot box dilema! I was just ribbing ya, man. I know a few people who still prefer silica wicks over all others. I disagree with them, of course, but whatever works for them is what's best for them, right? It is hard to beat the lifespan of a silica wick though...

Which made me just think of something that backs up Jeremy's observation of rayon. Remember when we used to use silica and would think we scorched the wick, so our vape tasted like crap? Yeah, that was the coil... not the wick. Biggest difference is that we were probably using clearomizers then, and we couldn't really inspect things properly... and forget about actually cleaning the coil off. It's pretty amazing that we're seeing the same thing in a wick that is actually combustible. Even though our wicks are completely capable of bursting into flame, we're still burning juice to the coil before we can burn the wick itself.... sorry for the tangent, just kinda hit me all of a sudden...

I already have two DNA200s with three more coming, ERM+ enclosures. I also have two DN40s and an Invader Mini. That doesn't include the Innokin stuff, IPV2, iSticks and Vamos. I already have more mods than I can possibly vape from, LOL. I just want her to try, and hopefully use, a TC mod and find the benefits that TC can bring to coil/wick longevity.

Here is the pic! 110ml now and just as white as day one. Coils look a little gunky but taste just as good as when I wicked it. This was also my first try with rayon.
