Rayon Wick - Better Flow, Flavor, Longevity, and Nic Hit!! - Pt.2

Been using mostly rayon for over a year now, mostly because some kind soul sent me a baggy full that long ago and it's still over half full.
It definitely breaks in easier, and holds more juice...but anyone else have a problem with even slightly dry hits burning though the wick completely? Going to change the wicks and just the ends pulling free with nothing in the middle?

i agree with previous posters about coil diameter,
along with that, if your stuffing a little too much
into the coil, that can also contribute to that problem.
if i am using a small diameter coil in a tank like the goblin,
i will purposely not put as much in the coil

Ok, got the Bachelor tank in, opened it up. Big ole coil in there, about 3.5 mm. really heavy gauge, not sure what but heavy. Coil was compressed, so I yanked the cotton out, took out the coil and took a round out of the coil so I could space it a little. Put it back in and wicked it with rayon. vaping comfortably at 35 watts on a single coil. I've never been able to do that. I'm sure it would stand more but I don't want to. Oh, ohms settled in at .50.

i agree with previous posters about coil diameter,

for reference : on a ~3mm spaced coil i use about 1/2 diameter of the rayon coil.
so for a 2mm coil maybe vapers should test between 1/4 to 1/3 diameter

I'm totally at a loss. I dearly love my rayon. I can fun it in rda's all day long. When the wick is dry, it's pretty and white. I got a Griffin RTA. Tossed a dual Clapton build in and did the rayon dance. Flood city. I put plenty of rayon in the coil. Nice and tight. Tucked the wicks in the channels, the whole 9 yards. I rewicked with cotton and no flooding. What gives gang?

i go by feel....with the 3mm and larger, i snug it to where its not quite moving a 24ga coil.
on a 2mm coil and smaller, i go less snug.
not cotton loose, but just noticeably looser than a larger coil.
sorry i cant give a more exact measurement, but wicking is alot
about feel.

What's the difference in the size and way the tails are sitting. You probably have very little width in the atty, not familiar. Probably less thinning since it's so small, length of tails can make a big difference too. Maybe it was short not blocking the channels enough.

I would leave it full thickness to the chamber wall. Then thin the rest enough to properly control flow in the channels. Probably leave a 1/4+ width going down into channels.

I tend to build my KFs at 2 mm, and yes, that 1/4 to 1/3 of the strand works well.
