Now the KGD is lonely, I hear its cried from the dresser at night...

Haven't been here for a little while myself. It is 100% Rayon here all the time now for me too. I have one little sad square of KGD in my build area, and a bag and a half I don't know what so do with. Save for a zombie apocalypse?

Am I the only one that sees what those involved in the Government using the media to scare people away from trying vaping until it is finally banned, just to get illegal payouts, an act of Treason?

Malfeasance as well as the aforementioned murder...conspiracy to commit murder...

Soak up oil spills in the garage? :)

Yes pick up these if you can, they are high quality Rayon. Not as easy to work with (finer and you have to unroll it) as the Graham Cellucotton the "Sally's" we all talk about, but the vape is that much better again.

Thanks! Luckily the next DM is only 200m away from me :D

Hi unexist! Welcome.

You'd be super surprised how much liquid it holds. My pictures and wicks in the OP on the Flash e-vapor, as little as it looks, will hold 30+ drops once fully saturated with a 2.5ml coil. I've vaped two hours off a prime.

Now the thinness of tails is dependent, its not set in stone. 50% tail is a lot, you dont realize what its like, mega fluffy.

You make it what you need. its very forgiving and able to be tailored to any use.

Hi JeremyR,

Thank you very much. Today will be the day :) I will post some results here.

Rayonia
Thanks to jeremyR & all who have contributed to these threads.
I knew rayon would be better than cotton, but had to put together my first wick, wire, tools order very quickly and had no intention of paying FF price to learn on.

Soon after, I decided to gamble and 10 months ago bought some tencel fibres (lyocell) and it's been brilliant.
I learned the basics of rayon from these threads and applied it to tencel fibres.
I haven't used cotton since the first time I tried rayon.

Struggled to find anything on tencel fibres so learned by trial & error.
The only tank I've used it in is STM RBA, and a horizontal was really easy.
(Must have had 210 ml through it in 9 months & it's as good as Day One, altho the coil is looking a bit crusty)

Tiny vertical factory coils were a learning experience!
(light back-combing makes it much easier)

By now, I expect more people are up to speed with the straight fibres form.
This fibre outlasts coils, even ss (no dry-burning Ti).

Recently, I tried the Kotex form, because I couldn't be bothered faffing around with back-combing for a tiny factory coil. (Aspire Nova BVC- the old 2 hole variety)
(I was only rebuilding it to see how well I could get it to perform with 28G ss coil using TC- @6 Amps- on a par with STM m2l same Amps)
The Kotex rayon has a much stronger taste than tencel fibres, but disappeared quickly enough.
I steamed & dried my tencel & it has no taste.

Well.. it's been ages since I tried tencel fibres with 100% VG (no nic), cos I'd over-thinned, and decided I may as well test what I'd read in these threads, and, yes, amazed at the speed it wicked.

I use really low levels of flavours, so I can taste the diff in wicks. I never liked cotton, in the few months I used it.
Over the last few days, I have been building TiNi coils in identical RDA, and vaping unflavoured in all three.
25 mg/ml MFS has quite a strong taste, imo.
It's a good thing I like it ;)

Thanks for giving me a clue about rayon :)
Elsewhere, I post links to jeremyR's blog all the time.
Am glad the Kotex exists so new builders can learn on something cheap, easy & better than cotton.

Cheers

Hi flambo, Thanks for sharing!

Rinsing Rayon before hand takes most all of the break-in away. It really only takes a quick rinse or dip to freshen it. And it drys very quickly so little to no chance of any issue with dampness, like with cotton.

Tencel is good, just a little more hassle on getting the right amount in the coil. Ive got a bag here, just never go back to it.

I know a guy that makes those. ;)

@JeremyR & @flambo
That break in taste is the rayon and coil making direct contact. Drip your coils and burn 5 times or more depending on the coil. Break in taste lasts about 10 puffs after that.
Kotex Us are worse than Sallys in this regard.

What do you rinse with? My tap water is super chlorinated.

I see that, I don't have the dexterity or supplies to make them.

Is that coil in your album a framed ribbon coil? I tried a few times to keep 5 strands of ribbon side by side, but gave up out of frustration.

That is a pile of work to keep it all uniform. :thumb:

Thanks!

30mm, you need some beefy coils across that great continental divide they call posts.
I need a pair of Aliens or some Fused Staples to put in it one of these days. :D

I finally found a way to fill mine. Wicked with rayon OFC.

Very Impressive!
:toast:
Thanks. If any ECF member wants something made I'll sell them pretty cheap. If you get on ebay there are stupid builds like 26g framed, 5ply 0.4 wrapped in 34g SSFCs for $20. That's just silly. The frames would resist less than the ribbon thus draw more power and there isn't even enough mass to heat 34g.
I use 28g for 0.4mm and 30g for 0.3mm. 36g or higher for wraps.
LilWhiteClouder has a 10 ply half framed SSFC comming soon.

Yeah thats what i do just burn off a few.. i was just throwing it out there, it does help soften the fiber.

Over tightness causes more or longer break in.

With the ku, it doesnt need to be quite as snug as the sallys. The fibers are a little different, it has more spring to it and doesnt reduce as much, or something.. So thats probably why more break in, try a little less.
