Checking in with my stash.. Got a couple KFL's wicked yesterday evening, and even though the flavour and performance are very nice, I'm sure I need some tweaking to be done. Anyone got any pictures of their KFL decks with Rayon installed? I saw a few in the first 50 pages (40 posts a page) that I covered last night. Hoping to read the remaining 37 pages at some point today.

I'm all about the flavour and usually run 1.5 - 1.7 ohm coils on all 5 of my KFL's in the vicinity of 10W regulated on Provari and ZNA. I'm also pretty much 100% on NETs (Naturally Extracted Tobaccos) and was curious if there are any specific changes that need to be made for heavier gunking juices.

Awesome thread so far, with some sniping along the way. I also saw mention of asking a Moderator to make changes to the first post etc. Let me know if I can help in any way..

Welcome dusty!

If it's still has great flavor the next day you pretty close, good enough to run with.

Keep us posted dusty, I expect to see pics ;)

If the wick is too tight the coil will start to gunk no matter what kind of juice. You should see noticeably much less gunking if all is well.

I've been using Rayon or a few days and I love it, but I came accross this on another forum http://www.minifibers.com/MSDS/MSDS_Rayon_RAFL-RATC.pdf and I wondered what people make of it? It says that Rayon is treated with finishes that release gases and small amounts of chemichals if heated above 130C. Our coils run hotter than that. Sorry if this type of thing has been asked before and answered, I got to page 105 in the thread and am unable to read any more tonight. Obviously it does not say what chemicals or what finishes they are talking about. I know the OP said that he had seen data sheets for Rayon and come to the conclusion that the finished product is likely to be pretty safe, but I just wondered about this particular data sheet.
You guessed right.

This MSDS is for a finish coated fiber used in production of yarns and fabrics. It's exactly the kind of stuff you want to avoid. Doesn't only apply to rayon either. Same goes for cotton.

Only use 100% untreated rayon, pharma grade. Be aware that many of the "100% rayon balls" sold in drug stores for hygiene and cosmetic use are actually relabeled pharma grade rayon. If you're not sure just contact the manufacturer. If you want to be extra sure, though, get it from a medical supplier.

In case you didn't find which I'm sure you did with those search terms, here it is -

It's really just a post by someone that unfortunately doesn't know what they are actually talking about and just fear mongering while unknowingly stunting the progression of a great vape.

Looks like I need to join redit to add the 20 thoughts I have. But we had some good factual support over there and even what they thought was a red herring msds only Showed positive things.

None of those listed chemicals remain in the fiber or are part of it.

Their msds sheet is great it says all the good stuff. 0 toxicity. Safest rating. No cancer causing chemicals per state of California.

The company does not make rayon. They process the rayon or actually just cut it and add
Finishes.
MiniFIBERS Inc. - Company History

What the op there doesn't realize is one reason I said not to use fabrics or yarn like aunt Lydia's. When it's spun they use a finish or additive to make it easier to spin. Our rayon is not spun to yarn. So take that part out of the equation what are you left with.?.. The facts.

The other big thing is that they need to realize that its not just mixed together to make rayon. It's actually chemical compound changes that make the rayon. Technically rayon wouldn't be rayon if cs2 were present. The reaction the sulfuric acid causes -forms the pure cellulose bonds. The Cs2 is free from the molecule at that point. Also any trace of cs2 'you may think' may be there has a half life of 12 days in air.

Op you say we jump on people questioning it. Well I've gotten that stuff from the beginning and never has anyone said anything that has scientific ground to their statements. Im just debunking it and you get upset because I debunked the statement.. I'm still waiting for a real debate... I always try to post the sources of the information. 120 years and you guys find no scientific data showing rayon fiber contains any harmful chemicals. Yet oeko tex chemical analyisis lab certifies it free from harmful chemicals: even stuff that could vaguely be hazardous.

I'm just sharing all this because I knew how great it was and wanted others to experience it. all I got in the beginning was oh that's gonna kill you it's plastic it melts it's poison. None of those statements are true.

It's not synthetic its semi synthetic. Pure cellulose doesn't exist in nature.

Sitting down, facing forward.
I have an acquaintance here on ECF who has an RSST but can't make coils for it due to bad eyes and shaky hands, so I volunteered to build a few with rayon for wicks. In passing I mentioned how happy I am with a rayon wicked Protank and asked if she used Protanks, which she does. When I sent the RSST coils, completely wicked and ready to go, I threw in two Protanks heads rebuilt with rayon.

I got a message from her today and she's blown away by how well the Protank works with rayon in it! Looks like I may have a side job rebuilding all her heads.

Or is there a possibility of a sticky that I can add to?

40ft CCr is cheaper if you order online.

Sally's is actually currently my last choice. Not that it's bad but it's like comparing 3 different nic's - they are all fine and dandy but one is a slightly better cleaner nic.

I prefer the Rayon medical balls & pharmecuitical coil (from meletonin bottle) as my first and second choice; followed by Sally's CCr.

If your a real stickler; Both choices above are more neutral than Sally's - as a fiber taste test proves. Also Sally's unsealed bag in a beauty shop could add to a slight off taste in the beginning if it picked up any funny scents. (Rinsing or lightly boiling can remove that)

I put this out there not to dis CCr , its a really great value, but there is a slight difference.

LOL, that's the same one I bought. Couldn't see not getting "the big box" for $4 more....And here I thought you were using the one I sent you....

I am vaping the rayon you sent. I went out and got the box anyway just so that everyone knows I am a big dog, and take vaping seriously.

And, you only sent me a 50 year supply. Though, not sure I ever said thank you for that. So, thank you for that.

ZOMG.

Rossum turned me on to KGD and now I have a 200 year supply of that.

If we find something even better and a zombie apocalypse comes along I'm opening a salon

Graham CCr is the cheapest and easiest to acquire rayon in quantity. For many its great and they notice no difference really. But if your a rayon connoisseur you can tell the difference.

Or If you make a habit of chewing on it. Lol ... The medi/pharma has a better neutral flavor. Brian described the Sally's fiber tasting like paper and the rayon balls were a neutral flavor. So a slight difference. But Sally's still works as prescribed. Any issue one may have with it can be rinsed/ boiled out if necessary.

However, Most flavor complaints are due to too much wick or too little wick. If you get it just right you really can hardly tell a difference. It's only when it's too tight that you can taste the wick. At that point you just have too much anyway and should try again.
