My wife was telling me that she was getting a funky taste with cellucotton in her kayfun and wanted to go back to cotton. So, I obliged (happy wife = happy life), and wicked it up with some organic.

2 minutes later she was saying it tasted worse with cotton so I (again) re-wicked it, this time using the medical rayon balls.

Only after that did she said it tasted cleaner and better than it did with the other two. So I guess to each their own!

All I know is at this point, I have a lifetime supply of the rayon balls, the cellucotton, AND the tencel top that was discussed eons ago in the beginning of the thread lol.

As long as you two are not smoking it is worth it.

Still cheaper than an ashtray full of butts.

I've been cigarette free for 3 months. She, on the other hand, was a stubborn one. After buying her 5 different style tanks and her not getting the right vape for her, I finally just ended up giving her my kayfun. Since then, she's been 4 weeks without one.

Save some money and buy a fogger v4, it will smoke any kf.

Its funny, I was completely content with the kayfun until I gave it to her and started dripping. Now, I cant stand the milkshake in a straw tight draw of the kayfun but really want another tank system for on the go. I have been following the fogger v4 thread closely, but keep seeing other tanks pop up that peak my interest. I just need something that carries juice and lung hits easily "similar" to an RDA, while still staying under $50. It sucks that I'm the kind of person that spends 3 weeks researching before making a measly $30 investment lol.

Can you give more details? I was considering getting a bag of medical rayon balls to compare to the CC.

The rayon balls I got from that particular source gave a bad taste. They wicked fine etc... But I couldn't get the yuck taste to go away (tried different densities). KGD and Sally's CC were ok in all the same atomizer coils I tried. The paper type bags they came in we're not sealed so who knows what that nasty flavor was!

First of all, I think vaping has become an incredible fire hazard for me, given the bags of cotton balls and the 44040 box of rayon floating around here.

Secondly, I noticed on a link that gorman sent me (100 Wattebällchen) that they actually state their rayon balls are "biologisch abbaubar und kompostierbar" which means they are biodegradable and can be used for composting. I don't think I had read that before in this thread, but I have to admit I don't remember all 3500 posts

Third, it seemed the vaping gods came after me yesterday. First, my rayon build in my Origen started tasting weird, something was off. So I switched to my Russian and suddenly - whereas before it was working perfectly for 5 fillups - I had the worst of the worst dry hits ever. Which is weird, to say the least.

After some swearing, I found out that the bad taste was down to the DIY batch being a bit off from normal - I tested it by quickly installing cotton. New batch, again with rayon, and I'm happy again. But that was a good test to see the difference in vapor; it is there, I'm not imagining things.

The dry hit in the Russian was something I had a few times before: the rayon looked just fine. Put it on the ohm meter: 1.3 ohm. Tried again: horrible horrible taste. Looked again, and yes, the deck had moved from a bump. I had this happen a few times before with my R91, no matter how much I tightened the screw that holds the pos. deck in place. It does not read as a short when not fired, but you can hear/feel/taste it shorting after 1 second; the vapor is also way way too hot. It's a semi-short, hard to explain.

Repositioned the deck without even taking off the coil, new rayon, filled it with the same juice that came up, and happy vaping again.

It does show again that so many things can go wrong (which had nothing to do with the rayon) that it's hard to be objective.

Another positive came out of this for me: if you want to work on your R91 or Kayfun, I found out that if I just turn it upside down (drip tip on) into a 30ml bottle, it forms a seal, and when you then take off the bottom (now top) part (with the deck), the liquid stays in the R91 without losing a drop! It may only work with the very tight R91 drip tip though, haven't tried it with my klf+ yet.

... Must say the taste so far is much cleaner than the kgd cotton I've been using. I'll report back after a day of use. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this thread for all the insight [emoji7]

Your welcome!

Welcome to the group, the wicks *may* be a little light if that's a pic shortly after wicking. Check to make sure the coil isn't higher than the wick, ie. That the wick is still in full contact later. If not you will dry burn the top of the coil. Rewick with more if the wick loses contact.

Good luck!

I do a lot of research too, but I've got too much time on my hands! As far as the Fv4 goes flavor and vapor production, doesn't matter how much you spend, can't beat it, on a tank, the orchid, I think, that we were talking about new best, I don't think it has the flavor, it has a bigger draw do it produces more, but with that gives up flavor, that's what I think anyways I don't know for sure, but I'd bet on it.

WideO,

I don't remember reading that in this thread either. I have read it in several places while searching Rayon characteristics on-line. When it comes to Rayon disposal the statements include all Rayon from medical fiber to manufactured clothing as "Biodegradable" and pose absolutely no waste management concerns save the obvious reduction in volume via decomposition.

Burry an old cigarette filter .... and you will be able to dig it up totally intact ten years later (personal experience).

You know, I've been thinking about all the "negatives" of using rayon, so from now on I'm using cellulose instead. Maybe that'll get the chicken littles a little more satisfied.

Good plan. When the crew at Mt. Baker Vapor kindly laid a sample on me, praising this new wicking material to the skies, my first (uninformed) reaction was 'Plastic? Are you kidding me?'

I agree with you completely. IMHO the term "Rayon" just conjures up all kinds of preconceived ideas of what they think rayon is and most are wrong as was mine when I first stumbled on this thread.

I can remember thinking to myself "Rayon" you guys have to be nuts. Fortunately I quickly discovered that Rayon was just another name for manmade pure cotton fiber (only a more pure form of cellulose) and/or a natural stick of celery or any other vegetable matter.

Mt. Baker laid some cellulose on you... WOW!!! Jeremy may go down in history as one of the great Vaping heroes.

PS - Plastic was my first Knee-Jerk reaction also.

I'm the same way and in the same boat! But I usually spend 4 weeks.. Lol

The flashi is a free lung hit draw with air screw out. You really need mesh for the tank wicks. I've just been using dripper mod cause I got tired of messing with it without mesh.
