For the experts, help needed on another section of the forum:

"Question.. I've only done 2 rayon wicks so bear with me.. If the hits are a little too juicy am I not using enough rayon? 1.6 ohm at 4.1v.

The other one is working perfectly.
"

Good/Bad?! Solution?!

A little bit of juice mouth, no gurgling though.. topper is a KFL.

What the heck are you doing in here, Jerms?! You in the Rayon party too?

Yeah, I've been here since I got some CCr from John. I mainly come to ask stupid questions lol.

No idea about the juicy hits, never had a juice in mouth problem with the KFL. I've just wicked my KFL once so far with rayon and it was an easy transition for me. I just used a little more than I would with cotton, same as with my drippers.

Likewise. 4 of 5 KFL's loaded with Rayon and no issues, well, atleast not wick related. ;)

When that happens, I just start cranking the power up.

That sounds good to me. I think I have mentioned that I have generally upped the power level on all my rayon wicks by ~ 2 watts.

My rationalization is the rayon holds so much juice that it tends to cool the coil more than cotton and it starts sputtering instead of vaporizing.

Also I think I have heard Jeremy refer to the "Juicy" hit as drinking your juice. Where is the Jeremy when you need him.

It is different than working with other wicks, you just gotta play with it a bit. See why the
One is working good and what's different about the one that's too saturated for you.

juicy is good for me, I just add more power. The whole point of rayon is it's the most saturated you'll get your coil at all times.

It could be that its flooding but you don't know it because rayon holds the juice incredibly. Too much flooding in from the tank?

If the wick (coil) is too low on the deck when you pull on it you can suck juice from the wick into the airhole causing "juicyness".

So I've been on Cellucotton for a few weeks now after a group buy (hard to find in the UK! Reckon 20+ metres will last me a good long while though seeing as I've used about 2 inches of it in the last 3 weeks) and it's absolutely fantastic. Got a KFL+ today, before that I was using rebuilt microcoil Kanger heads and even on them the rayon was so much better than cotton.

Now with a Kayfun, Jeremy is right - it really is like drinking your juice. Just a shame I am now drinking one of my least favourite while I wait for tomorrow's vapemail as I've been going through so much of the stuff!

One other thing I've noticed is that if you change flavours a lot and like to reclaim what juice is left in your tank/dripper you can basically stick a syringe into one end of the wick and watch it dry out from the other end. Insane wicking, insane flavour, insane vapour! Huge thanks for all the work you've done in bringing this to the masses.

Lmao!

:) :) :)

Glad your gettin down with the rayon kameleon!

Welcome the the group!

I too get a juicy vape with a higher PG liquid. It seems as if the vapor is condensing on the way up the chimney of my EVOD or there is so much vapor leaving the wick that it collects quickly during the inhale making the vape seem moist. For a higher VG liquid it is much more "smokey" with the same setup. The juicy vape is not gross like drinking pure juice, but it does seem like I am drinking the vapor per se. Just my experience.

On another note fresh after picking up my box of CC I went to a "chain" vape shop today to see the gear they had. I had never been there before and was kinda excited to share my spoils.

I chat up the dude behind the counter about their mods ( custom branded dna30 box clones) and was talking about the sx350 which is going to be the bees knees once FT comes out with a cheap box kit.

Anyways I mention rayon and the dude stops and acts like I have a third eye on my forehead. He says something like "ya know vaping is supposed to be harm reduction etc etc." I stop him in his tracks. "Hold it!" I said. I followed up with "now that I have piqued your interest do some real research for yourself and draw a real conclusion. Why in the world would I want to share a dangerous product with you?" A customer walks up to the counter and get his attention. I say thanks for the chat and leave. Your loss bud.

Then I head to my local B&M and chat the guys up about the sx350 and they listen especially about the 50w capability out of a regulated mod. Then talk about the infinite CLT which seems to be a real nice RDA.

Then I bring up rayon. I mention the pros and such and offer them some. Sure! They said. I grab the box and whip out about 5 feet or so. We sit at the build table and he yanks out his cotton wicks from his RDA and puts the rayon in on the spot. I told him how to use it and he had it wicked in no time. As he was loading the juice he says good god this stuff is thirsty! Yup, I replied. He takes a pull and let's out a vape that would bring a tear to riptrippers eye. He says wow! Adds a little sweet taste but is good. I said the sweetness is probably he juice being tasted at its full potential. Anyways I said let that build ride for a while and see what longevity you get from it. We chat and vape for a while and they cut me off a sample of this cotton that looks like combed hair. It is quite yellow looking but they say it is really nice. I accept and will give it a shot but IMO cotton is cotton and noting will pull me away from my rayon.

I really appreciate B&M people that want to listen and learn and don't think that they are gods gift with their sub ohm diamond coil blah blah blah.

So in conclusion I want to thank Freedom VAperz of Chesapeake VA for being a great place to vape, socialize, learn, and shop. Thumbs up guys and I hope you like the rayon!

Secondly, I noticed on a link that gorman sent me (100 Wattebällchen) that they actually state their rayon balls are "biologisch abbaubar und kompostierbar" which means they are biodegradable and can be used for composting. I don't think I had read that before in this thread, but I have to admit I don't remember all 3500 posts
Regarding this product, yesterday while rebuilding my Kayfun 3.1 (on which, to be honest, I'm having problems with leaking, probably rayon is wicking too fast, not sure), I tried to taste it.

So I got a fluff of rayon that I cut out while rebuilding and stuffed it in my mouth. I kept it there for several minutes, savouring it... nothing. It tastes of nothing. Being honest, I don't recall anything else with such a "neutral" taste. Surely not cotton (not the one I use at least).

Yup, exactly this. It seems the rayon wicks so well that by just pulling normally if there is even a little covering the liquid intakes in the Kayfun... you suck it directly in the chamber. Leading to the flooding I experienced.

Same here.

The rayon gets considerably more "wet". So I had some juice leak down the air hole when I tried a spaced out coil while experimenting with builds and got a little bit of flooding. Going back to my usual microcoil fixed that. I also ended up making it a habit to lift the coil a little more off of the deck than I would with a cotton build.

I get no flooding or airhole leaks since then.

Only problem remaining for me is that I get "dry" hits when I chain vape really hard. At first I thought I was choking the wick i.e. using too much. However, taking the wick out showed it was fine, still almost completely white and saturated with juice. The taste on that dry hit was also much more this typical metallic kanthal. So my assumption is that it's not actually the wick running dry, but the outside of the coil itself.

My current 1 ohm 28g build works really good so long as I don't chain vape like crazy. Gonna run this for another day or two. Then I'll re-wick the thing and actually try to put a flavor wick on top of the coil Protank style.

i read your entire post then realized you are in hampton roads as well. is it just me or are 90% of the shops in the area in it more for the money than the experience and the customer? i live on the peninsula so havent been to any of the southside shops, but there are very few i go to up here just based on knowledge (or lack thereof), price gouging, and treating the customers correctly.

Yeah the medi rayon is super clean. It goes though an extra wash or two. To make sure all the salts are completely removed.

Soaking or a very short boil seems to bring the Sally's to the purity of medi.

Thicker, but less in length? I've only wicked my Russian91% with rayon twice so far, each time has been fail. First wick the flavor was muted and I guess that I had used too little. The second wick I had apparently over compensated and used too much.. then I started getting dry hits. I guess that I just need to play with it more. My brain is still in cotton mode...

Too dense mutes the flavor, too loose the coil will start to dry hit. I take it you rolled your cotton wicks. I find rayon is best to use completely uncompressed/ or rolled. Pull it straight off and pull it through.

Here's a hands on of how I do it.

I don't think it is just the location. IMO there are many shops out there that are not staffed with enthusiasts. I don't expect most of the shop owners to know as much as I do as I tend to be a little thorough in my research, but I at least want them to be open minded or willing to spark up a conversation. I am very bare bones with my 2 ego batteries, 1 iTaste vv V3, and a handful of EVODs, two T3S, and an AeroTank. Oh and I do have an RDA for testing flavors (patriot clone). I am not into bling, mechs, but I do love technology. I don't sub ohm micro dragon nano femto pico coil with diamond tipped whatever. It is all about the vape for me. Honestly I think it is a generational thing. Most of the older folks I see in vape shops can't justify spending $175 for a Hana clone, and are like me who have smoked for quite some time and want something simple. I won't justify the expense as the clones are not that perfect as the original even though the dude behind the counter said that it outshined the original...

I think of it this way, how in the world can you operate a successful vape shop if you don't know your products? It is like running an auto shop and not knowing what a spark plug is.
