Two (2) coffee stirrers, cut at a 45 degree angle on the bottom of the cart and cut to the ‘inner lip’ of the 510 cart. Filled the inner cart with 10 drops of Dekang RY4 (24mg.). I cut a 3/8” strip off the ‘blue’ material and cut 3/8” cubes of the material for the ‘plug’. And an additional 3-4 drops on the ‘blue’ material to completely fill the cart.

I’ve vaped 36 solid hits on the cart, leaving it horizontal on the desk between 3 and 4 hits, no real leakage at this point, but the atomizer/cart is beginning to ‘bubble’ a bit due to vapor residue.

A quick inspection of the cart reveals no liquid in the cart and no burning of the ‘blue’ material.

This is a Keeper!

‘blue’ material = Scotch-Brite No Scratch scour pad

OK, I'm LOVING this facial scrub pad (or "buff puff") material!

It seems to have layers of a sort. I put the material in so the layers are running lengthwise in the cart, instead of across it. It makes it really easy to just sort of fluff it up when I put put it back after a refill. And I've been using it all day and it hasn't hardened up at all. It also empties the cart completely, no leakage or flooding and it doesn't even taste bad when it starts to run out of liquid.

You guys have to try this stuff!! (Sorry, I know you were all running out to get blue pads, but this seems even better than those!)

Do you mean like a gurgle, when the atty is flooded a bit?

I seem to get that with this mod, but not so much that it actually floods the atty. It's more like a sizzle because it's really moist, but not wet.

It's funny that you mention that. I haven't heard an atomizer "sizzle" so consistently in a very, very, very long time. It's great!

It's basically the same sizzle that you get with a KR808D-1 cartomizer.... and it tells you that you have it working just about perfect!

Hi Kristin,

I went to HD and Ace no luck just standard greenies. I came home and read your post on the Pluff Buffs. Since I live 5 minutes from a Walgreens I ran over there got a pack.

I split the pad in two. Cut the straw to length. Filled the cart with juice and plugged it. The plug seems to dry out. ???

There isn’t any soap in the pads is there? I don’t think there is but I need second opinion. LOL

Great material if I can figure out the correct density.

OK, it dried out on me the first time, as well. If you look closely, there is sort of a grain to it. Turn it sideways so you can see the ends of the fibers and insert it that way. It works perfectly that way!

The top and bottom of the pad are crossgrain, so you don't want that as the top/bottom of your plug - that should be on the sides, if that makes sense?

No, the ones I bought don't have any soap in them.

Hey Scott, I saw you say you use the spring instead of the straw - why that preference? Do you feel it wicks better or something? Just curious!

Kristin,

In my opinion there is absolutely nothing wrong with the straw.. but I'm suing the spring for a couple of different reasons:

1) I found some springs (in the cheapest of bank pens) that are a bit "bell mouthed" at one end. I widened the bell-mouth just a bit and it became a press-fit in the base of my 901 cartridge. I liked that because it held the spring in a fixed position and the spring will never fall out. Then I took the other end and (after cutting to length) opened it up.. making another bell-mouth. Now the spring kinda looks like an hour-glass. That made for a great support for the pad, and the pad doesn't rock at all. That holds the edges of the pad better (remember, I'm using a large 901 D-shaped cart) and the edges of the pad seal better in the cartridge.

2) The springs are soft.. and they actually compress a bit when I push the cartridge on. I feel that gives me more consistent performance from atty-to-atty.... compensating for slight differences in bridge height and creating a uniform and consistent compression of the pad. Dunno... but it sounds good.

3) After I fill the cart and put the pad back on, I can push down on the pad a few times like a plunger. That saturates the pad and ensures that the pad has "seated" properly and is sealing against the sides of the cartridge.

Anyway... those are my reasons. And since I'm having really good luck with this version.. I'm not going to argue with myself!

If I understood Kristin correctly (and she'll correct me if I'm wrong!)... she took the 1" thick pad and cut it into "slices" that were about 6mm thick (or so). That would give her a piece that is 6mm thick and 1" wide. Lay that on it's side (flat) and then make your plug that way. So the plug will be 6mm thick.

Does that help you visualize it?

OK Kristin... this insanity has got to stop. I just looked down and realized that I have vaped through a full 5ml of 24mg ECOpure today.... and I know for a fact that I haven't wasted a single drop. I can't say that I wasted a ml or two to flooding or discarded polyfill or... or.... I just vaped it all away.

Sheeesh!

I just noticed that I'm going through a lot more juice too. I don't know if that's good or not. Vaping with this mod resembles dripping. Good hit every time.
