Welp finally got my replacement serpent back. Here's a shot of the framed staple I put in it.

This one is better, but I've been getting an atty short on my rx200 every once in a while. But when it's working it's been an awesome vape. I wish I would have gotten the stainless steel version, it seems like the black ones are the ones with problems.

I just got my serpent in today! It kept saying delivery on Monday and I was flustered for not just getting priority mail lol Well, I made a 24/30 Clapton the other day and it was too short for my velocity and dual coil so I left it. Washed it out, coiled it, wicked it. Mmmmm =) I'm amazed at my power consumption especially a Clapton. It heats up quick and is really performing. It's sooo much easier to wick then RBA heads. 30w on my Reuleaux my batteries will last forever!

I really like the simplicity of the design. I can't wait for my new wire to come in the mail as well. The single coil platform will make it easy to compare them against each other. I've always had trouble getting the wicking perfectly matched on dual coil. I bought a little bit of each of the following for TC: Ss304, 316, NiFe70, NiFe52, and Ti. I've used SS and titanium already and like those. I don't really care so much about perfect temp as read on the screen, just that it's consistent and repeatable.

On my RX200 it kept shorting, and on my Istick 100w TC (same chip set) it worked great, note this is a black one, so the only difference in the top of the mod is the square 510 on the RX and the round-ish pin on the 100w TC, i also tried to take the Serpent apart to see if there was paint inside on a connection, and what i found out is that you cant take the serpent apart, the 510 pin snapped just above the screw, once i did get that out the decks positive post is pressed in so i snapped the positive post and its flat base off, but the square 510 in the RX works with my silver one so that doesnt make sense to me, all i can see is that when theres pressure on the positive of the 510 it either shorts or loses connection, and it doesnt happen to the silver. but beyond that all i can tell you is that i need a new base for my black Serpent.

That sucks! My black one was starting to jump slightly. But I was able to tighten the 510 and it is now stable as can be. The 510 is reverse threaded and some 510 connectors could be loosening the pin in the atty as the spring loaded pin on the mod has too much pressure while screwing on the atty. The pin in the mod connection could be making contact before the atty is tight and that pressure unscrewing/loosening the 510 on the Serpent?? Don't know, just a thought.

yeah the 510 on mine was tight, super tight because at first i didnt realize it was left hand threads, so i super tightened it, even after that on the RX and my Cuboid it was shorted. after that was when i tried to take it apart. everything other than the positive screw is press fit as far as i can tell.

I posted these over in the rayon thread, check it out!

OK I figured I'd post this here. I'm using my Serpent exclusively, and I can say without a doubt it's the best atty I've ever owned (not saying much, I only have 3 :D ). Now here's how I wick it with rayon: I do the Scottish roll thing to get the fibers even and snug, wick as per normal, then I deviate a bit. I'll cut the wick just past the deck, fluff/pancake, then pinch the ends so it looks like a bowtie. I'll place the wicks in the channels, then hack off whatever sticks up (those of you who have an aqua v2 recognize this method). I'll then wet the wicks really well, push the edges into the channel, pull up the tails a bit and trim the ends so when I place the wicks back there's a small gap between the bottom and the end of the wick. I HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKS/WEEPING DOING THIS!!! Not only that, the wick keeps up beautifully! Folks if you own a Serpent you really should give this a shot! Much better than the standard way IMHO.

Just got this badboy in and after a year of MTL vaping, this thing is kicking some serious .....

A few things I dont like about the tank though:

1. Is there an easier way to build? What I mean is the slanted 2 posts are kind of annoying when trying to fit both ends of the coil in. Is there a technique that makes this easier?

2. Is there a definitive way to not get leaks when filling?

I did put an o-ring around the threaded base and it seems to have helped a little bit, but it also has seemed to impede my wicking a little bit.

For now to get no leaks when filling, this is what I am doing:

1. Close juice control
2. Open fill top cap
3. Fill ejuice with dropper
4. Put back on fill top cap and turn once, just enough to catch the threads.
5. Completely invert tank upsidedown until there is no juice near the wick holes
6. open juice control while inverted
7. completely tighten fill top cap.

While it works, all these steps seem super annoying. I cant see myself having to do this on the go everyday when I am out and about. The other tanks I used prior like nextgen / kayfun. I can just plop juice in there screw it back on and never care if its going to leak after filling.

Okay I might have just answered my own question.

Just now I tried to refill without doing a damn thing. Everything open, juice flow, afc etc. All i did was open top cap, plop juice in and close it.

No leaking, Ill have to keep refilling to see if this was a fluke lol.

No fluke. That's how I've been doing it from the start. If your wicks are right and you're quick about it, no problem. :thumb:

Snipping one end seems to be easiest way to go about it.

As to your question on coil building. It's been noted on this thread in previous posts. Instead of wrapping with wire on top of coiling rod. Someone suggested wrapping from under the rod. Works great! Makes it easier to insert into the post holes. I believe GrimmGreen on YouTube had a vid on the Serpent & he shows this way of wrapping.

Just wanted to update my experience with this tank after using it for 2 days.

After using MTL gennies for the past year, coming to this huge airflow tank I already expected a huge loss of flavor. Which compared to a MTL gennie, the serpent indeed has way less flavor, but this was to be expected. Thats not to say it has bad flavor, but compared to SS mesh gennie, huge difference.

I honestly dont think the airflow adjustment does too much for the range that it can be rotated. Half open vs full open there is probably a difference of 5% airflow. Closing down to almost zero opening on the AFC results in a much stiffer draw but to me is pointless because the airflow area that should really be adjusted is the opening right under the coil.

Even though I have conquered the filling / leaking issue, my unit seems to weep liquid from the airholes over time from condensation / left over vapors. Turning the AFC ring after using the tank for a bit results in alot of eliquid weeping.

Build quality is good, ease of use is good. I think for 25$ it was an awesome buy.

I was looking for a nice airflow singlecoil subohm tank, and this one delivers.

I just wonder if there is a fix for the weeping juice from AFC, thats really my only complaint.
