Thanks to VaPreis (and Jackmormon recommending I try that)! Another wicking issue solved with his instructions. My issue was I wasn't getting good pancakes before on the wick ends, but blowing on it helped to shape it so I could fluff it out with a screwdriver. I was able to fill without leaking and it seems to be keeping up with the power I want to run to the coil. I did have to close the juice flow a little bit, but I think it is as good as I have had it wicked so far. I'm going to try roxy's method too at some point.

Edit: Dwcraig, I don't mean to derail the thread, but real quickly - I think the problem I've had in the past with nickel claptons was that I was wrapping with nickel and then I was getting shorts if I didn't get the wrap wire just right. I'm assuming that isn't an issue if you are using kanthal to wrap?
Not an issue.

Gotta love eciggity. Ordered my two black serpents on Saturday and received today. I don't know how they ship so fast. This was free first class shipping not even priority. Just look at this sexy beast...

That thing looks slick in black. My serpent is supposed to arrive from ecigcity. And after seeing your pics I'm glad I ordered in the black.

The Serpent is coming around for me. Funny how some builds just need more break in time. And hopefully I'll remember to wrap my coils for it the opposite way of what I'm inclined to do. I did put in a spaced Clapton for the first time, and that may be affecting my experience as it cools significantly faster.

Roxy, I found my Serpent really kicked in on my second tank. Not sure why the delay, but that may be what it took for me to get my airflow and watts balanced. Using 5 wrap 26/32 spaced Clapton, fairly close to the deck. Came out to 0.77 and I am vaping between 23-27watts, depending on how much I want to cloud my windshield up. Vaping 70/30 vg/pg. NET cigar I did up a few weeks ago. Wonderful.

I have never had a leak on this at all and have run over 30 tanks and rewick about every 2 days due to the NET juice.

Finally ordered one of these tonight. Been eyeing it since page one of this thread, just hadn't gotten around to ordering it. Kind of glad I waited, ordered the Black one from VaporDNA. (Although I could have probably ordered it from Slowtech, saved a few bucks, and got it in about the same time).

I just got mine today! From Everzon in China. You guys are never going to believe I ordered it last Tuesday, the 29th Dec. & it got here today the 5th Jan. That's with USPS off on New Years Day & a Sunday. Free shipping $23 & change. I'm so shocked! Everzon was always fast in the past about 1 1/2 weeks. I can join in the fun now! Yay!

Mine still says in Honolulu. :/ I don't have much patience waiting for vape mail lol. At least I have two other packages coming today that weren't supposed to be here until Friday so I have something to tie me over since its been raining which means I've been stuck at the house and not at work.

Mine got from Hawaii to Florida in 3 days. The one I ordered from gear best on 12/1/15 still hasn't arrived. It's somewhere in transit.

The machining on this thing is superb. Threading everywhere is buttery smooth. I'm digging this matte black finish. [emoji6][emoji106]

Hopefully tomorrow then. It shipped out on Monday and I'm in California so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope everyone who's waiting gets their Serpents without issue. :)
I have been wicking mine like Todd does in his video - all the wick on top of the deck. I think that's why I've been getting a little flooding when filling, since this last time I put ALL the wicking into the juice channels (which I saw on another video from a different reviewer) and it doesn't flood at all. Still can't believe the flavor and warmth I'm getting.

Got my Serpent and so far so good. I think it's easy to build on, easy to fill, easy to use. I've filled it 3 times so far and I always fill it to the top so this may be why I've had a problem with leaking. Not huge leaks but small leaks non the less from the air control part. I close the chimney, fill, turn upside down to open chimney back up and still get leaks. Perhaps I shouldn't open up all the way at first. I'm still playing with it and I am enjoying it. I will try the "pancake" wicking way as well. I got mine from Eciggity and they are great! I think I'm going to go ahead and open her up and do the pancake wick in her, why not.

Just did a pancake on mine and it did not leak at all. But I have tried a couple different ways with no leaks.
Glad you like it Bella! I really like mine. Works great with a clapton coil on it. So easy. I run it with the airflow half closed and get plenty of vapor and flavor.

I love the easy access to the deck! Never have to dump juice to try something different on the deck!

ok having a bad serpent day....ugh! I'm baffled by this leaking when filling. I'm thinking that this has nothing to do with wicking whatsoever. The tank wicks fine and doesn't leak a drop after the initial fill so it has to be something to do with pressurization. At first I thought perhaps I was filling it to quickly forcing juice into the deck. This should not be an issue when the juice flow is completely closed. So I tried tilting it and filling slowly, no difference except that it started running out the airflow holes before I even reached the top. after wasting almost 5 ml of juice I decided to test the seal on the juice flow. I emptied the tank and cleaned it. screwed everything back together and closed the juice flow as tight as I could, started filling with water. As soon as the level reaches the top of the large chimney portion approx half full where it begins to narrow the water begins to flow out the airholes just like the juice. it seems to be water tight up to this point. This is why I suspect it's a pressure issue. At the halfway point something is forcing the liquid where it shouldn't go. I'm at a loss for a solution. It seems no matter what i try there's going to be about 1ml of juice that going to leak out those airholes every time I fill this thing. This dispells my burping theory if the juice is going to run out before I can even get it full and closed and invert it in time. strange part is that after that 1 ml leaks out, all is good for the rest of the tank. no more leaks and you can vape it dry. This is why I don't believe it a wicking issue because it stops. If it was due to wicking it would continue to leak.
