I had some leaking issues at first but only with my black ones. The oring fix fixed that. None of mine leak now. If you didn't get a bad one the trick is in the wicking. Too little it leaks, too much and you get dry hits. I think wattage plays are part in leaking too. Not enough wattage and your juice in the wick doesn't vaporize as fast as it wicks and I'm thinking that that excess juice is dripping down into the huge air hole and out the air slots. Just my theory. Same goes for not enough wick to hold the juice in between vapes.

I dont know why, but the experience I get on my Serpent is a lot better with my griffin. Airflow is awesome. Not that big clouds but pretty good for a single coil. The flavor is ridiculously good.
My only cons is that the air flow adjusting mechanism is hard to twist. The topcap can be flat making it shorter. And the glass section should be disassembled. Everything is nice. Would buy if there's a Version 2!!!

just want to share a pic of my build

using 26 gauge nickel wire running at 0.068ohms...vapes perfectly!

Great close up pic! 6 wraps, correct?
I tried to copy it exactly but may not have got my wick thick enough? I'm getting an occasional dry hit. I'm sure you can imagine its to knock me over, yuck!
I believe my coils is fine so I'll re wick and try again. Is there anything else I could be doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Just did a non-leaking Kanthal 24awg / 3mm ID / 5 wraps / 0.5 Ohm build:

What are your experiences with high vg on the serpent? I'm a noob. Got the serpent a week ago and tried different builds with regular kanthal from 24g .5 ohms 5 wraps to 28g 1.7 ohms 10 wraps. Now I use the twisted kanthal that comes with the tank at .65 ohms. Wicking seems good as I get a lot of vapor. Flavor is however very muted on high vg. I wonder if its my build or if its my taste buds. Quit smoking a month ago. I'm a direct lung hitter. Vaping mostly around 22-28 watts. Trying to tweak AFC and JFC to find the sweet spot. Any suggestions?

High VG causes flavor to mute, maybe try a little more PG and/or more flavor percentage. How much flavor do you use, or if it's factory-juice, what flavors and what nic-percentage are you using? The serpent is one of my tanks with the most flavor.

Its factory juice. Haven't glt around to DIY juices...yet ;) Vaping mad alchemist snow whites demise (70/30 vg pg), dripaholics diesel and mr cat (85/15 vg pg) and fuzion vape krankenberry (65/35 vg pg). When I vape 50/50 pg vg I get significantly better flavor, but I feel some of the more subtle tastes doesn't come through. Vaping anml looper and its very citrusy and not so creamy. Same with others. Seems like only one flavor comes through.

    Oh, im using 6mg nic.

Try looking in previous posts for pics. The tip about keeping the coils closer to the air flow slot but of course not touching. Is stated to increase flavor. And it does! I get as close as I can, maybe about 1 1/2 - 2mm.

You insert the legs as you normally would. As previously posted try wrapping from under the rod & counterclockwise. This makes it much easier to insert the legs into the post. Adjust, then tighten the screws. Then with the coiling rod in the coil gently push down towards the airflow slot. Check out Grimm Green's vid on YouTube he illustrates this pretty clearly. Hope this helps!

Greetings! I finally decided to sign up here and give some more tips for the serpent. I've had it for a few months now and like with all other Tanks, you learn it's quirks and how to best work around them.

I started getting leaks and was watching over this thread religiously. Did the 0-ring fix, but my ocd got the best of me and felt like i was not getting as much juice flow to the wicks with my high VG juice from the o-ring blocking it a bit. So i decided to take the O-ring off.

Also tried the upside down way to "burb"it, but that just caused juice to leak from the drip tip! so that didn't help matters.

The final solution i have come up with (and sorry if it has already been mentioned) is when you close the JFC before filling it may "feel" like it's tottally closed. You have to look where the serpent logo is compared to the window on the tank where you can see the juice. 9/10 times even though it "feels" and looks like it's shut , i can gurantee it's not. What i do is i keep lossening the jfc back and re-tightening it. It should eventually tighten up even more and you will notice this by the serpent engraved logo moving more away from the the glass window. It may take a few lturns back and forth and then tightens to get it to the point where it is trully closed. Then once you establish that by using the glass window in the tank to notice where the serpent engraving lines up, thats the spot you always want to shoot for when filling.

Hope this post made some sort of sense lol. If any of this didn't feel free to ask me to clarify :)

Also, right after filling you will still get the gurgling like it's flooded after re opening the JFC. What i like to do is then close the JFC and take a vape with it closed to vape out any of the excess juice thats flooding it. Then i take another prime puff anf if i don't hear any gurgling i reopen the JFC.

Would you say that this is achieved by having the legs of the coil go straight into the post holes? Or do you bend them slightly so the coil itself is slightly closer to the air flow?
As @Heartsdelight mentioned, wrap your coil ccw so when you insert the legs into the posts it points upwards. (See my pics also a few posts back) Then indeed adjust until it's as close to the airhole as possible, that'll give max taste.

Thanks for the welcome leo :) Yea it's weird that sometimes it just stops turning and seems like it's fully closed, kinda like it's catching on the wick , which is why it probably eventually works itself free and can then be fully closed by looseining it and tightening it a few times. But it still feels like it gets caught even when i keep my wicks out of the juice channels! Like... what can it be catching on? bad threading?

Also has anyone had a problem when putting the deck back together after rewicking/coiling? should the JFC be twisted open? i noticed yesterday when trying to screw the deck base back in it wouldn't tighten all the way. Like there was a small gap. Was it catching on the JFC threads or soemthing? Once i decided it may be that i loosened the JFC and was able to fully screw the deck in. At first i thought the O-ring got caught.
