Ego.. I got your back! lol

I just got home from hitting up a hobby lobby and other stores as my wife had to go here and there

Only took me an hour easy to find that damn stuff! Freakin Hobby Lobby is seriously huge. I was just about to hit the panic button as i forgot what the damn name was of that stuff to ask someone and there and behold.. The Amazing Mold putty. I gots the last one on the shelf! I think it was on sale as the women at the check out looked off there sale add and next thing ya know it rings up $14 and change. :)

I went up and down every aisle in the store twice over! I do remember it was not where you think it should be by the cookie cutout aisle.. It was right next to the clay molding stuff so i guess it was in the general right area.

Anyways.. gota get some dinner and then i'll get started.. no idea but i guess i'll do yours first.. I'll have to hunt through my tools as i have plenty of those star bits in all sizes.

More promising info.

"Silicone rubber has excellent flame resistance. It has a flash point of 750 °C, an ignition temperature of 450 °C"

Thats 1382F and 842F. Well above any set of numbers being quoted in this thread.

"The principal combustion products are carbon dioxide and water, with the ash consisting of silicon dioxide."

The only thing bad in there is the silicon dioxide and that is a repeated exposure type hazard. The ash is a fine powder.

Silicone rubber – Elastic, flame-resistant, oil-resistant

This appears to be true for most silicones.

Flammability of silicone rubber compared with that of other polymers

The bottom line, if your pv melts down don't snort the white powder.:D

Gotta get to HL tomorrow.

Just got back with mine Ego. Cuttin' up a cart at the moment. I'll have to guess at the #10 size part because I don't think mine have numbers on them. Now if I could just find a @#$% paper clip. May have to get inventive.

EDIT: Mine WERE numbered! WooHoo!

Ok, just made my first one and have to let it cure.

Lesson learned: You don't need a lot of this stuff to make one :D You just need a very small amount (which I though I had made up). Turned out to be 1" in diameter and 1/4" thick when I squished it down. Only needed 5mm x 8mm x 1/4" of it ... oops. Oh, well, it will be fun to play with while the real one cures.

A quick question for Ego. I did mine on a hard surface which worked fine, but obviously the punch and paper clip substitue didn't go all the way through because it couldn't go into the hard surface below it. I just picked up the cart and pushed a little further knocking off the excess below the punch and paper clip. Is that what you did or did you let it cure and just trim it with a razer? That's what I will probably end up doing anyway.

Perfect instructions and VERY easy to make so far. Also, I read to wash it with soap and water once cured to remove any residual "stuff" that makes it cure. That should take care of the one question someone asked about not having "perfect" measurements and leaving some of the resin on it. I'll be doing that, too.

Your near ft worth? Come pick one up and BS with me while we vape lol. U a DJ? My cousin DJ'd for 99.5 but moved on to Fox Sports Net to host college game day Rivals.

Wish I were near Ft. Worth, I would come hang out with you...I am 90 miles south of Dallas on the 45. Yeah I run a Saturday morning show on a local country station here in town. That is awesome about your cousin.

If I ever head up to the Ft. Worth area, I will let you know and was hang out and vape.

You better not get the last box!

That's funny because I actually did at my Hobby Lobby.

Ego,

Here is the top and bottom of mine. I noticed something different which I think can be explained with your help. I did not get that large hole in the bottom like you have in your pictures. I think it's because you pushed your star tool through further than I did. Maybe I'm stupid, but can you verify that is what you did? This stuff is really hard to cut nicely once it's cured. I'm about to just make another one, but haven't even tried this one yet. Prolly will do that first.

It's VERY easy to do.

Yeah thats the hard part.. Its a bish to stick the star tip threw it while its in the mold as its trying to push the putty out of the bottom... hmm.. Maybe we already have the star tool in place then squeeze the putty around it in the mold. At any rate its seems to be working.

I've made 2 so far.. 1 set with one 1/4" deep and another about an 8th of an inch deep. So far it seems the shorter one is working better. Could be because its not sealing the hole up like the deeper plug would fit snug in the hole. I'll look at it more to see forsure whats going on.

No HV yet as i want to make sure theres no problems before like strange taste and if its wicking good enough.

Oh.. i used a larger star. Insted of the 10 i went with the 15.

Man, that looks so easy to make!! For the last couple of days, I've just gone to dripping because every cart mod I've tried so far ends up not working as expected after a couple of uses or requires constant rebuild or replacement of new parts to get it working properly again after a couple days of use.

Luckily I have a HL close to where I live, so maybe I can give this a try tomorrow. Any updates from anybody that's tried it so far? How well is it working after multiple cart refills?

Hey Eclipse, that is what I did with my second one. It seems to be working. A little surprised actually because it kinda looks like it shouldn't, but it is. I've made 2 of them as well and am playing around trying to break it :) I'm going to try trimming them down a bit also. I can feel it "click" into place and assume that is the atty fitting inside the hole. I do think the thinner one might work better for me, too.

Ego, This is pretty cool. I think the 15 size tip worked better for me. BTW, I'm trying this with VG liquid and haven't tried PG. That maybe why 15 worked better for me. Either way, I'm really happy at the moment.

Just wanted to update about testing the 1/4" deeper one. Seems the plug was so deep that it was touching the very bottom of the atty! We know this as it had dark juice residue on it. At first i thought it might of been burn marks but nope.. dark juice residue. It was'nt just the juice i was using currently as i have Drewbacco and its light yellow in color and this was dark brown juice.

So anyways, it was'nt wicking good at all and when i pulled it out it had probably 3/4 of a tank left. Maybe the plug was chocking the atty clogging it up as it was sealed around the bridge air tight. I cut it down about an 8th of an inch and tossed her back in and bamb.. hitting great now.

Have not done a leak test though.. this one now may be as it seems to be runing really rich.

Opps.. yeah, forgot to mention what juice i'm using. I'm as well using VG juice and yes, Drewbacco from Nhaler is pretty thick stuff.

From the look of it, I'm assuming when you cut the cart for mold making you cut it at the point where the side vent holes begin, yes?

Yeah that the area to cut.. I was surprised it cut so easily with a razor. The cut piece went flying off the table and was hell to find the white piece in white carpet! lol.

You should measure the cut though to i guess a 1/4" or less. It's pretty easy to cut the plug down in size afterwards if needed.

Though someone let me know if they feel its unsafe to have the cut piece exposed as i've notice that the inside does not have the same smooth cured look as the outside.

Oh what the hell another post.. heh. This one is now hittin so freakin well i'm convinced its ready for HV. I'll give her a go.. hopefully i dont kill the atty.

No Dice!

The first 4 hits i was thinking again "The search is over" (lol) but nope.. Got dry on me and thankfully i could taste it and it registered in my mind to stop before i kill the atty.

Pulled it off and there was half a tank left. :(

Could just be that my vent hole is possably being closed when the bridge enters the main hole. Next time i make one i'll add the hole in the corner insted of right next to the main hole. If that dont work i'll make a hole in each corner. That way regardless of how i'm holding it, there should be atleast one hole unclogged with juice to vent.
