I find the hardest part of this is actually getting the hole right. When you insert the star or the s2 square it's a bit difficult to get it out the other side to complete the hole. It always ends up too small on the cart side and too large on the atty side. The putty oozes out of the mold and deforms the whole thing... it's probably just my ineptitude with this stuff, but jeez...

lol... I use an old plastic battery case that has the screw hole in it. When I put a tool in to make a hole it pushes the excess out of the hole and doesnt spread out. Let me know if you need a pic, but its just a peice of plastic with a hole in it.

Here is some other pics of a newer mold I made. I makes it a bit easier to mash the putty into the mold with the tubing out of the way. I also drilled a hole all the way through under the BB to push the plug out after cured. I just made one without the mesh in this setup and what I find is I can make the walls much thinner while keeping it more rigid and allowing a couple more drops of juice. Just my spin on it...like Ego says...they will both work. Use what you got. Hope this clarifies some things for ppl.

Mash the putty in and then the tool for the bottom cavity and let it cure. Dont worry about what it looks like until you take it out of the mold, it can be trimmed. I dont cut the hole until its cured in my case.

Here is a link for tubing if anyone wants. It is better than what I have..like .010" smaller OD.
MSC is a great company...I used to order all the machine shop supplies where I worked...fast shipping. McMaster-Carr also carries it and they both have the silica glass for attys. Both are great companies.

All of you really!! I started reading the post from Ego then your goodself adding and refinning as you go, I think its just great how you develope these idea's..I am in the UK and we have different products so tracking down things like moldy dough/bb pellets etc. is a challenge in it's self, but we can always improvise.. a bit.

Glad to help Art...the credit goes to Ego though for this, it has made things sooo much easier than dealing with silicone.

I dont know about the molding putty but you have to have something over there with ball bearings in it in stead of BB's. Probably a hundred way to do it so the one YOU make might be better yet.

I am definitely a tinkerer, I started around the age of 4-5, taking my toys apart just to see how they worked. Needless to say after my second destroyed Etch-a-Sketch my parents started to get concerned...especially after my brothers toy started coming up missing. Nobody ever knew about the "toy graveyard" under the porch. Haven't stopped since.

I have a question...if I'm using the black flat carts, do I need the second hole and tube? I can't seem to get it not to leak! I tried for the third time with no luck.

U will need something to hold it up, where the bridge doesnt push it in. Use a straw or something similiar. The round carts have a lip on the inside that keeps them from being pushed in. Hope this helps.

I have been the same since my childhood albeit larger toys/houses and back to the smaller stuff.

Got my 1st pc in 2002 ..The company Tiny UK. went bust the day after it arrived, and I had a 5yr insurance plan for RTB repairs that was then voided.So out came the toolbox and the rest is history....

since then I have prob built 100 or so for friends,but this vaping is new to me, so I love it....So far

It has cost me a small fortune so far though




just keep it up with your innovations and tweeks

If you do remove it completely, do you re-insert it after curing?

Did you just slice up one mold? That would make 3 plugs per mold?

And since the holes look a little bigger you didn't need to make vent holes?

That was for the first design with the tube molded in place...Yes I meant pull it out then replace it after curing because I thought the heat would distort the tube, although I have baked these at 350 degrees with the tubes still in it and it had no affect on the tube anyway. The last design you just put the tube in last after curing and trimming. Main thing is to have the tube go to the bottom of the cart to the top of the plug.

When I first started making plugs, I just run a needle through the plug until the point stuck through, then put the tube on the point of the needle and pushed the needle back out of the plug with the tube. That can be done if you dont want to make a jig with the pin making the hole for the tube, but I didn't like it because it distorted the center hole a little...damned compulsive behavior of mine. lol
