I need a new phone and I don't want one. Mainly although I understand they're like little mini computers now, the prices are outrageous. But MOST OF ALL I don't want to have to deal with ALL the functionality that comes with a five year new phone upgrade I mean I can barely use mine now and it's 5 years old.

Verizon keeps like, adding updates that are designed to kill it, because THEY want me to buy a new phone. I hate them. I wish there were some sort of "generic equivalent" phone that I could buy at like 80% less of the price, where it's not very good, I can select about 10 apps because I don't need that many, and etc., and it sort of functioned most of the time. I'd pay not a ton of money for that.

I should do some looking, it would keep me off that freaking, "I want to murder the lot of you who would rather kill a human being than their pet and keep trying to come up with morale "rationales" (I would get sued is my favorite moral rationale so far) instead of admitting they're just people who prefer to save their pet.

I mean, I have a kid like that, but at least he could see there was no justification for it, other then he loved his pet more.

JUST admit that, instead of trying to justify it morally. That is not actually possible.

I'd get sued. Yes, I totally live my life on that basis, before every act, I consider, "Will I get sued."

Sorry to bring the madness here, but pretty soon, Yoga time plus I gotta go out later. My mom called, post Hajj, she was very "euphoric sounding."

I bet she wouldn't save the pet. Well, she did pay like 1,700 in antivenin costs for the kid's dog, but she also said, "I didn't want to at ALL but I couldn't bear to do that to the KID." So I think she'd probably agree with me. I didn't ask, I'm done asking people!!!! If you are a hypothetical murderer I don't need to know!

The wife and I both need new cellphones because the batteries are "shot" (phones are old)

Have been watching videos, and for every 10 that say buy a particular phone, there are 10 that say don't buy that particular phone.

Confused???

Haters gonna hate. People are just as steadfast in their like or dislike of phones as they are about pizza toppings.

If your phone can hold out, they almost always s have some crazy sale once a year. I have an iPhone, got it I think May, two years ago. It was like $6-700 at the time, but with the sale it was $200. I did have to re-up for 2 years which I wasn’t changing plans anyway. Otherwise they usually add the phone payment to your bill. Not such a great deal if you ask me.

That Nokia thing looks fine to me, especially the price. Yeah I so do not need a super powered phone. Most of my texts of any substance usually say, "Um I'm going to email you." LOL.

Thanks, I kept the link, very useful :) I suppose I will involve the husband with the caveat that no, he is not going to try and get me the latest and greatest. LOL, I can't even take a decent pic with a phone.

but while back didn't you have a problem with parents wanting to video you while you watch their kids? in todays world that isn't unreasonable.

If it were an infant and I were changing it, it would be fine. A lot of parents don't want/need it for their older kids, although in some ways it protects the nanny if some kid get injured. I do have issues with areas I would not go, and would request being locked, rather than videotaped, have cameras.

But, frankly, as a therapist there were times I was dealing with kids who had been abused, where in some ways I would have liked it, (although I'm pretty good at what I do actually do, it wasn't necessary) but I do know practitioners who insist that their sessions are videotaped and my guess is, that practitioner has been sued.

Speaking of that, that was the uh, rationale that upset me the most. "The stranger could sue me."
That's not ONLY admitting that you care more about your pet than a human (which is fine) but you also care more about your Pile O Money than a human being's life. I do not make each and every decision in life based on whether I'd get sued or not. I would save someone even if it cost me money.

Like I said, I have NO ISSUE with pet owners choosing their pet's life over a human. That's fine, l consider it morally questionable at BEST, but just SAY that is your value, don't say all that other justificatory stuff. I'd actually have MORE admiration for the person who admitted it was probably wrong (which my kid did) but like said, "I would do it ANYWAY."

That's fine, we all make morally questionable decisions in the world, WE ALL DO IT. Just man up, admit that is what you would do because you CARED more about the pet, don't make it worse by SAYING, "The stranger might sue me," that is actually LESS about LOVING your pet and more about PRETENDING IT's ABOUT MONEY.

You all do not have to have the same values as me, just don't be a moral coward. Man up and say "I would do it anyway, and you can go pound SAND, Anna." Etc.

Because, I no longer care about what you weirdos think, l happen to value human life above my pet, and my opinion shouldn't MATTER to you that much (unless you feel secret shame). WHO CARES WHAT I THINK?

I don't think it makes you a bad person, just morally questionable in that area! And we are ALL shades of grey, so just leave me alone with it.

I never once expected any of my son's caregivers to videotape, and I was involved enough in his life to not need to. Except with his bio dad I guess, where it would have been really HELPFUL, but that's not (or was not) typically in a custody agreement, and once the kid TOLD me, I took HIM to a lawyer, and allowed HIM to make a decision which was a parental severance and a name change.

But no, I would not personally want to feel so mistrusting of my kiddo's care giver that I require like video taping at all times, of course, I decided to stay HOME with him until he was five since I loved him enough to do it. At great personal cost and expense to myself actually, but I'm not sorry I did it.

Etc.

Again, moral compass. I do understand the suspicion of moms who feel they must do such a thing however. Probably nowadays, people videotape their PET SITTERS.
