It already is ruined anyways. The character of the Oktoberfest has changed drastically over the years and has gone away from being just some kind of fair to be a pure drinking gig.
(here in 1925, the shack in the back advertises freak shows like "the girl with the bird head")
If you want something more traditional (for whatever reason) you go to a harvest festival in a more rural area.
The one in Munich now is just another Mallorca... (if you don't know what that's supposed to mean google "ballermann"). At least it's in Germany and not pestering the people in Spain.
Why people are complaining is because it isn't a family event any more, but I think that stopped to be the case back in the 80s and 90s. Now it's kind of an adult dress-up Disneyland with beer.
I'll just add that I wouldn't go to either one - the old traditional or the new frat-bro-style Oktoberfest
