I may resort to getting the 21700s. I’ve been reluctant because, we’ll, I have so much stuff already... but I wouldn’t mind not changing the battery so often. And that’s the one con I’m having with the SL, the threads are awful. Not impressed with that at all.

The Awgis had gritty, nasty threads when I first got it, but they’ve gotten smother with use. I sure hope that happens with this one too. For that money, should be like silk.
The threads is the one issue I have. If you push in while tightening, it is much smoother. But yeah they should be buttery smooth for that kind of money. 21700 are well worth it IMO. I see my future mod purchases being heavily 21700. You get a lot more battery in a slightly larger package.

The SL uses a threaded cap? I didn't know that. I hate threaded caps. IME bad things always happen with them. It is a nice looking mod.
Yeah it is a threaded bottom cap. It is basically a tube mechanical with a board attached to the side which is appealing to me. I think it looks really cool. I have had some of my mechs for years and they are still in great shape. The issue I see with this one is not only are the threads grindy but on the cap they are a bit shallow. If they ever fail I will be sending it back to be fixed. It pisses me off a bit especially after using tube mechs fir years. I see smooth threading as a measure of quality. And on this the bottom cap is the negative terminal as well.

Are the threads coarse (grindy) due to the pressure of a battery being pressed against the cap or even without a battery in the mod? Nice device – especially the stabwood. It’s sparked my shinyitis but mostly because I am curious in owning a YiHi based mod. I need another mod like I need another hole in the head (finds drill, makes hole in the head to justify another mod!!)

They are a bit grindy without a battery but the pressure of the battery makes it worse.

Agree the SL threads are grindy, and battery pressure does make it worse. Pushing on the cap when installing the battery helps. But they aren't smooth, even without the battery.

Good thing is, it's not a fine threading, so I don't think it will cross thread or get damaged. Just seems kind of janky on a YiHi mod. Guessing it will smooth out some with time, I may put a light coating of vaseline on them to see if it helps.

I've got three of them, one stabwood and the black and gray pearl or whatever they call it. The threads on the stabwood are actually much better than the other two.

Also, I've noticed the finish quality isn't the greatest on mine. It's a laquer coated stainless steel, and the finish applied isn't smooth/clean in some places. Almost like it's applied heavier in some places than others. I just expected a little better from a YiHi mod.

Don't get me wrong, I'm really pleased with mine. No regrets.

I may get a polishing bit out for the dremel and try to clean up the threads a bit on one of mine. No griding or brushing, just a polish wheel perhaps to smooth it out a bit. Actually, some steel wool would probably help a great deal.

There's several reasons for grindy threads, cleaning them just gets rid of one. If there are sharp edges or burrs that means they skipped one or two steps in production, you'll need some fine sanding paper (and obviously a good clean after). If the tool used to cut the thread was all wallered out and didn't produce a smooth surface you're boned. Over time it'll get a bit better but the thread won't fit very snugly and will have much higher electrical resistance than necessary (with black crud appearing quickly).

My shiny stuff said delivered yesterday but it was not. I was in process of trying to contact the local PO this morning when a man knocked on the door with my package. It was delivered to the wrong address as usual and he had opened it thinking it was his since he had his own packages delivered with it. This is a common occurrence here, the carrier cannot seem to get these country addresses figured out. At least I got it (he had no idea what it was) lol.

    Good morning Shiny's.
Birthday coming up next month. Can't decide if I want another Therion or an SL. SL means more batteries and another charger. Don’t believe the Luc 6 will fit 21700.

They will fit in my Efest Luc Blu6 in the 26650 slots. I believe it's the same size slots as the Luc 6.
Some 21700s are taller than others, with the AVB Joyetech and Eleaf uses being one of the tallest and they fit.

    Edit:
    Mooch's page says the 20700s fit in the Luc 6 26650 bays so I don't see why 21700s wouldn't.

Honestly I'd just as soon buy a 2 bay to keep it simple. If I get the SL I'll likely only buy two 21700s to start off.

    My Blu6 fits Golisi S35 21700's
    Efest makes both Luc6 & Blu6 but I'd google

Oh, I thought you already had Luc 6 you wanted to charge 21700s in.
I have a Luc 6 but just have 18650 devices so far and generally charge 4-6 at a time. Just think adding a two bay would keep it simple for me. If I grow into more 21700 devices I'll keep the two bay at work and buy another charger, the Luc 6 is at least 3yo.

The Golisi S2 takes 21700s -- has a nice display, charges at 1 amp when using both bays, or for single battery will do 2 amps in left bay, or 1 amp in right bay. I've only had mine for 3 months, so I can't speak to longevity.

On the subject of chargers, I didn't think to check if my D4 accepted 21700s until after I ordered a stack of 30Ts a few months back. Some of the info I found said they didn't fit, so I was sweating it out until they showed up. I tried them in the D4 and they fit with no issues. No luck on my old I2. Not all of the info out there was accurate, though.
