@NolaMel - If you love the food here in Toronto you’ll be knocked off your feet by the food in Montreal. Both Montreal and Quebec are beautiful cities, lots of culture and the perfect place for a foodie to indulge!

@dom qp – Never been to Touro, bit off my beaten path. But reminds me of the CopaCabana here in downtown Toronto. Another great Brazilian Steak house.

I might have to try Copa. I drive in from KW and it's a bit hard on the way back fully stuffed.

We usually get up there when my husband has a conference. I shop during the mornings (at least one full morning at Hudson Bay lol), and afternoon a mix of eating and various cultural activities

Watch her occassionally but not all the time.
For that reason I didnt know anything happened to her.
You know what happened?

She got hugged.

Personally I can't stand her. The way she talks and her body language. She constantly looks high.

It gets busy as hell often with a lineups down the street so plan accordingly. When I frequent with friends we make reservations.

But my current favorite pub/restaurant in Toronto is Guu Japanese pub in Parkdale. The best fried chicken I have had north of Georgia! Very friendly, extremely professional! The food is a fusion of many cultures. They also have Japanese whisky and craft beer as well….love the stuff. And a wide selection of Sake as well. I like Sake but not that familiar with it. Me and a friend of mine try to make it a habit to go there at least once a week. If there are only 2 of you, best place is at the bar.

That's actually really good information. I've been planning to propose around spring. Was going to frame it around a weekend in Toronto. She's from rural Quebec, grew up in Northern Alberta (really really Northern Alberta), and lived in the Yukon; so she really wants to visit the aquarium for the first time and spend time at the marina. Need to find a eat place nearby. Was going to book at the Delta because our work has an agreement with them and we get discounts, and it gives us the chance to visit the CN tower too.

Just been missing a restaurant, been looking for the right one.

Pretty sure she usually is, but I can take her occasionally. Maybe it’s his Scottish accent and no nonsense presentation, but if I HAVE to watch a video, I’ll pick his if it’s an option.

Oh. I assumed they'd replace the fries with grits or battered and deep fried the whole thing. Or both.
:lol:That would be the rest of the South. NOLA is an odd multi-cultural, not Deep South, more like our European roots than the US kind of place. Grew up in Alabama, but having lived in Kentucky and Tennessee as well, I can say without doubt.... this is not like the rest of the South. It is truly it’s own kind of city.

Congratulations!

The Copa is a little more intimate than Guu. Parkdale is very hipsterish so caters to that type of crowd. But Guu is a very fun experience. And if you enjoy mixology and or creative cocktails, Pretty Ugly bar is just across the street from Guu. I’d say one of the best in the city. Makes for a nice night cap.

Haven’t been to the CN Tower in decades. It’s expensive, but if you have never been it is a must visit.

If your husband’s conferences are held at the Sheraton, the scotch bar I referenced earlier with the duck poutine is right at the bottom of that hotel, called Quinns. Food is not bad there but I go for the scotch selection. But the duck poutine is excellent, so much so I had to call a friend in Montreal and brag about it.

Not sure the last time you visited Toronto, but Hudson’s Bay now splits it retail space with Saks.

We also have a small airline – Porter Air from the Toronto island. Can get cheap flights to Montreal. Something to keep in mind for your next visit to Hog Town (slang for Toronto).

I don’t remember where we stayed last time, but I could walk out the front door and go straight over to the access to the underground. Now they only use Hilton. Sometimes they’re at the hotel conference centres , but usually meetings on campus. I’ve skipped the last few to Brisbane because of their draconian nicotine laws. I really want to visit Australia, but two weeks without nicotine sounds like a terrible idea

@dom qp – I am not Korean so they are all good!! I can’t put a name to any of them….most of the time me and friends just end up at some random BBQ when out on the town.

Cost of real estate in Toronto has become a big challenge for many restaurants/small retailers. Many can’t survive and there is a high turnover.

Yeah just watched that.
Messed up situation and I feel for her as medical Bill's are no joke.
I feel bad for Zophie. Hope she has a quick recovery. I can't believe the guy just took off. What kind of person would just leave like that?

It’s probably been 6-7 years, but HB was split into almost mini department stores inside. I was thrilled because I could get the European cosmetics I usually get my BIL to bring back from France

It’s still split but I think the main floor is now Saks. Good friend of mine (I call her my sister from another mister – and she refers to me as her brother from another mother!), is in the cosmetics trade. She’s done a few movie sets and travels world wide. Its not something I’m into so can’t comment, but if you have questions, I can pass them alone.
