21700s have landed. As soon as their charged we'll see how long it takes me to find novice mode on the SL. Also got in the natives wicks platinum I ordered from Crazy Chef. Been wanting to try this wick for a while.
Hold the joystick to the left for a couple seconds to get into novice mode.
In regular mode:
To turn the display up/down, hold the joystick up for a couple sec. You will see it get a bit brighter then tap up or down to change.
To change tc and wattage modes press joystick straight in, numbers will turn red. Click joystick in to cycle between modes. While numbers are red press up /down on joystick to adjust.
Clicking left on joystick cycles through flavor modes and the different power modes.
Holding down on the joystick puts it in bypass.
Holding the joystick straight in checks resistance.
Those are the basic functions. It takes a bit to get used to it. Also 3 clicks to lock/unlock. 5 clicks on/off. Hope this helps.

Nothing incoming today, rebuild/wick rda's to pass some time. View attachment 782947

I finally managed to pull my misglued magnet from my dot squonk.

Need to swap my insulator on my B2K and get ready for some low ohm 20700 vapes.

My insulator for messed up. It's usable but messed up. Albert sent me another so now I have 3 B2Ks but not enough mods.

You ever try building it on an angle? I rarely do it but there are indentations on the deck to put it on an angle. I'm wondering if the airflow hit the coil on the side, if you'd get more air going over more surface for more flavour. Especially on a wide or spaced coil.

Something like this:

It's very slightly twisted to an angle in that picture so that when you look in the airflow holes the air is hitting the middle of the bottom of the coil. I wouldn't mind trying your suggestion on a build, although I'm getting really good flavour now. It seems like it would be difficult with such thick wire that I have in there, did you use a smaller gauge when you did it?

I only did it once or twice and it was with weird builds (last one was with round wire). I know it's made for both modes though, that's why there's 2 indents. I've seen pictures of it set that way too. I just finished work then coiled and wicked though so I feel tired and don't want to mess it up.

It's funny you mention being tired. I always tease RJ how sitting at the computer all day must be exhausting :pervy:
It never goes over well

Mental exhaustion man. When I did what RJ did I was paying out something like $400,000-$600,000 average per month. You make a quick slip up and you can cost the company thousands. The spouse has seen cases where someone might do something innocuous like put a decimal on the wrong space, or put in an A instead of a B on a field and all of a sudden leadership has to write off over $100,000 and our call centre goes bonkers with extra call volume; killing their service levels and forcing us to pay dozens of thousands in overtime.

What i'm doing now is almost pure math, all day long. Remember sitting for an hour through math class staring at the clock until it counts down to end of period? That for 8 hours.

I'm supporting 6 value streams like RJ's now, with another 10-12 to be added in the next year. Doing math for all of them, remembering the intricacies for each one, then meeting with leadership and presenting a plan that can make or break the next quarter is stressful. Last time I checked (it was 2-3 years ago), the value streams under our dept grossed something like 1.3 billion that year. A small mistake of a couple % one way or another is a mistake that costs me my job.

Right now i'm working on forecasting how many people they need to hire and train for holiday season 2020. Have to make a lot of judgment calls without much to rely on.

I totally get it, it's just fun to tease.

Sounds like you need a drink at the end of the day :toast:

I totally get it, it's just fun to tease. RJ is good at her job, she blows away her Q's targets and does it with no QA's, takes a lot of concentration.

Sounds like you need a drink at the end of the day :toast:

Man those QAs suck and I don't miss those. I used to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. You kind of get in an autopilot mode and you just go through the motions. All of a sudden you get QAed and you don't even remember what you were doing. I'd spend like an hour killing my targets going back and figuring out if I made a mistake.

I don't know if RJ was there (I think she was on mat leave), but when I got hired we had the craziest peak of all peaks (holiday 2010). We were getting $100 an hour in incentives, bonuses, and overtime. At that point we were so busy I don't think QA was even checking things.

Yeah, she was on mat leave then.

I said you might be in for training soon, you should say hi, she'll be disappointed if you don't, lol

Yeah, she was on mat leave then. Did you know she got an Istar last year? Nice to get recognized. She's been there for crazy peak periods in the past.

Those things are fun. Was the celebration in Toronto last year? When I got mine the rewards sucked, I was kind of ....... I had a choice between family pass for the year to Wonderland (I had no kids/spouse), 4 person trip to see a Blue Jay's game with food/limo (I hate baseball), or a night stay at a hotel. I ended up taking the hotel because they awarded it in loyalty points that I redeemed for gift cards. Before I got mine they were group focused activities. Everyone did them together on the same day. The year before they had it in Montreal and had a choice between a hockey game, spa day, or painting class with wine and fancy dinner (I think).

The gala and award thing were great though. Best part was definitely the open bar. You could tell a lot of the people there needed to let off steam. Next morning breakfast was pretty "low energy".

I'm thinking first week or December I might go in. It's going to depend on when I empty my current plate.

Yes, Toronto.

Morning Shinies,

Good to see all the deliveries turning up.

Suffering a bit of an vaping existential crisis today as I look at my collection of standard mods and RTA's. Once you have been seduced by the smoothness and flavour from a 3mm macro coil on a 22mm dripper, you realise you are in the same territory as the difference between a freshly baked loaf of bread, a lump of decent cheese and a McDonalds. Both satisfy hunger, but the bread and cheese, like the Mustang, Apple pie or Jim Beam, will always be a classic.

I can't remember who said here that it will be a long time before we will get the same flavour from an RTA as the smaller drippers, but I get it now. It is not that you can't achieve the same flavour from an RTA as a dripper, it is just that you can't get the same flavour consistently.

I look back to about 2 weeks after I purchased my first mod and the Cleito 120 and being astounded by the flavour of some commercial juice I tried. It blew me away. No matter how hard I tried, and the different permutations of airflow, temperature or technique, could I recreate that experience regularly. Sure, it was OK, and some experiments really shone through (like twisted wire coils), but depending on the time of day, temperature, what I'd eaten or drunk, mood - these variables all had an effect and changed the flavour experience. I was beginning to think it was just me, and I was not sufficiently disciplined.

The Wasp though, was fundimental in helping me discover what was going on. I'd dripped using the Nautilus previously, but it was a bit clanky and messy. Flavour was, again, a real eye opener. It fell down at the practical hurdle, and so I carried on with RTA's, and splashed out on a few. While good, to date they haven't totally scratched where I itched. What the Wasp did was draw a consistent baseline. Or to put it another way, I didn't know what I was looking for, but I would know what it was when I found it. Like the alchemist or the magician, once found, to the untrained eye, the skill would appear to the uninitiated, almost as witchcraft.

I get it now. And the whole shinyitis thing. We are sojourners on not only the path of experience, but also self discovery. I realise my next goal is to develop my own style, to find a way of tuning and taming those RTA's to squeeze every last ounce of flavour out of them. But to also listen to my inner "vape voice", and not accept anything but perfection.

Vaping is truly evolution in action. Anything else is just second rate.

The Halady clone is superb BTW, not as "moist" as the Wasp, but a bit crisper and slightly better defined.

I’ve had an authentic wasp and a hadaly clone for 3 months in my stash that I haven’t even built on yet. I’ve been so happy with what I’ve been using in my rotation but I guess I need to get those two onboard!

The other two are zipping around too fast.

Oh I would love another kitten but then I remember her hanging off the suede Roman shades, the toilet paper and paper towel rolls shredded, lamps and books knocked over and the scratches up & down my legs and arms lol!!! Nahhhhhh ;)

Good morning shiny people!

Had a couple days to play with my new tanks. Something went awry with the Solomon 2 and it tastes terrible, chemical. I need to wash it and try again. The Intake is still giving me grief, so I put it aside. I’ll goof with it more after I’m done enjoying the other two.

Love love love the Horace. It’s just so easy to deal with. Easy to build ( even I nailed it first try!) easy to assemble and fill and not leaky at all, even when not upright, because in a pocket it does go sideways.

Love the Juggerknot clone too, although it’s a little weird to assemble and I’m on the fence about that side fill. It’ll either grow on me or become a real frustration. But I will say this, the flavor is enormous

I built all of these with 26 Gauge SS round at .5 ohms, so the Jug being a dual comes out to .26. It’s almost too intense and i can taste imbalance and other off-ness in the juice better in this tank than my rda.

The deck is fairly easy and it’s got air like the Lincoln Tunnel, although you can close it as tight as you like.
The OG is about $100 and this one I think was $25 from Fasttech. If I’d splurged on the OG I would not have been disappointed, but I don’t find anything not to love about the knockoff.

It does look kind of huge on the minikin, but it needs a heavy enough mod to reduce the odds of falling over, and if it does fall, the tank only overhangs on the front.

On a more personal note, I need to brag. My furnace pilot went out this summer- always just left it on - when the plumber came to do my pool line. I forgot all about that at the time. So I tried to light it but it wouldn’t light. Last winter the motor went out and my BIL replaced it, but before he did, it was wobbling really hard. Shook a wire loose. I just happened to spot it, got it tightened and it fired right up.

Nobody was available to help so I’d have had to call a pro to do that. Saved myself a couple hundred dollars I bet. Probably not too impressive to some, but anything gas scares me to death lol.

Need pics of your new atties and the one on the Minikin.

Kudos to you for getting the pilot lit. I’m terrified of gas. So much so that when I was looking at houses to buy I eliminated all that had a gas hookup. I’d rather pay more for electricity than worry about a boom.

That cat is an Olympian! So my little tricksters figured out how to escape the living room and now have access to the entire house. Wasn't 10m before the first yowl for help. One was behind the bathroom door and thought itself trapped.

Vaping related news...the 21700s didn’t reach town until 8:25 this morning so may not make it to the house today.:(

Have fun lol!!
