Thank you, @RayofLight62 and @Letitia. I guess that French guy was right. Haven't tested the fix yet, but I am confident it will work. And I'll get the click rhythm down soon enough.

I spoke too soon. The first time I had to change the battery, everything started up just fine afterward, but this round I've tried five or six times with no success. I pop in the battery, "SX Mini" shows up on the screen for a few seconds, the screen goes dark, and when I nudge the joystick upward twice nothing happens. Bah humbug.

I've put the Pico back into service till my anger at the SX Mini fades. Right now, I'm so irritated that I'm afraid I'll cross-thread the battery cap (whose coarse threading I've come to loathe) as I impatiently try again and again to get this thing to work.

Do you think I'd have better luck with a 20700 or 21700?

Morning shinies :)

@Tralfaz - was that a silvanusa? Been drooling over them, but they are a tad hard to find
Yeah, I picked it up last year on a whim for like $65 from an Ebay seller who had three of them. I didn't realize how pricey they were originally or how rare until I'd already pulled the trigger on the sale. Came in a fancy wood box, too.

I'd forgotten all about this little guy. Good excuse to dust off that stabwood mod I never use. Doesn't match but close your eyes and it's all the same, right? The juice was a 3x100ml for $20 deal but it tastes like a 3x100ml for $22.50 deal :D
I love that mod and have been kicking myself for getting the sl class instead. I wanted it in any other color than pink. But I should have gone with pink. Gorgeous!

Hi all! Sorry I’ve been away so long. Long story, struggled through this whole month. Anyway I hope everyone had a nice Christmas and got shiny things.

I slacked off with cleaning tanks for so long I had none good to go. Washed them all yesterday. Went to get my coil stuff and cotton and found a brand new Amit in the cubby. I don’t remember buying it lol. Not the first time that’s happened.

I hope things are looking up for you now @DeloresRose

You have to do the 5 clicks every time when installing the battery. The screen only flashes to let you know the battery is installed correctly.

@stols001 congratulations on your new purchases especially the minikin 2 raw. I know you’ve mentioned it a couple of times. It really is a nice looking & feeling mod.

I got frustrated pretty quickly with the touchscreen though. It took me forever to get the screen unlocked and into individual settings. A video from Asmodus instructed the user to go from top edge to lower edge. It doesn’t respond like a smartphone-purposely so settings wouldn’t accidentally get changed.

Even so I still found it frustrating until I either read or saw a video that showed there was a Tap Screen option instead of the Slide maneuver.

It’s in the Settings menu then go to Setup there will be a box that has a ? mark on it. Open that and it will give you two options - Slide or Click.

“Click” has been much more responsive imo and I’m actually using the device again.

Just wanted to let you know about that setting in case you found the Slide option a pita too.

Enjoy!!

I randomly seem to get either the menu OR adjust wattage. All I get under settings is brightness, puff limit and reset puffs. Mine isn’t updated if that makes a difference. Love the mod, but I can’t make friends with it totally

Raw Minikin is the bomb!
You still have old firmware on there... ;)

The fire lock can get out of sync if you use three taps to lock it and then three clicks to unlock it. It will unlock a second time using three taps so you will have to do it twice or not unlock with the fire button.

The new firmware shows the touch screen lock icon (between the puff counter and timer) on the screen so you know when the touch screen is locked/unlocked, makes it very easy for swiping.

The menu on the Minikin V2 is really simple to use. After you unlock it with the swipe, tap on the wattage numbers to go to the wattage adjustment or tap on the mode indicator at the bottom to get to the Resistance/Mode/Setup sections.

A slow swipe from the top to bottom will unlock it every time and the new icon lets you know when it's locked from a setting change. Most changes will re-lock the screen after you press the fire button.

I find mine easy to use too. I have three Mini's and once I finally figured it out, no problems. That slow swipe from top to bottom is crucial and then touching it where you want to change is important too.

I thought I tried that, but I guess not, 'cause when I did it just now, all was well. I am too quick to assume the worst.

I got a couple of packages today. Package #1 contained a Dovpo M VV, a Geekvape Aegis, and two kinds of juice: a weird freebie I would never have chosen and Jam Monster blackberry, which I unfortunately ordered at 0mg by mistake. Luckily, my liquid nic will arrive soon enough, so I'll be able to bump the blackberry to where I like it.

Package #2 held two Zenith D22 tanks and some more e liquid. I popped one of the tanks onto the regular Pico, where it looks terribly cute. The whole setup is wonderfully tiny, in fact. It charms me.

The SX Mini had so irked me I only looked at the Dovpo and the Aegis and put them back in their boxes without trying them out. My first thoughts are that adjusting the potentiometer on the Dovpo is going to be fiddly and perhaps frustrating. As for the Aegis, I was surprised that it didn't come with a USB cord, since it mentions updating the firmware using one. No big deal, but a strange omission. It also came with a Shield sub ohm tank that is, I believe, totally unsuited to my vaping style. But, hey, if I ever decide to step onto the DL road, it will come in handy, I suppose.

In brighter news, my frustration with the SX Mini led me to pour myself a tot of an amaro I made in 2016. I didn't like it much then, but it has aged into something quite pleasant, so that was cheering.
