Hey all. Welp, after months of intense procrastination, I finally ordered another charger to replace my "first serious charger" I2 that I bought back when it started to look like vaping was going to be a thing. I'd been using it as an overflow for my D4 and it's been a little wonky lately. So I got a MiBoxer C4-12.

It cranks out 3.0A simultaneous on all four slots. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited. Might invite the neighbors over to check it out when it arrives.

Love it, and I'd invite the whole block - especially when you get your pickle ricks in there :D

Oh crap, should I sell tickets?

E - Also, I'm really loving the button on my new Overpowered mod. I've never had a mod with the broadside style clutch system before. The throw is amazingly short and precise.

    Tickets and sell popcorn ;)

3A to each slot at the same time?? That's a 12A draw. Allow for heat dissipation and that's really a 15A draw. Don't use it in the same line as your a/c (or this time of year electric space heater) or you'll trip a breaker.

My bargain Athena made it to the US. What's weird is that according to 17Track it came into NY through JFK airport but is now with USPS in Stamford CT. At least it's only one state away but don't ask me how it got there. We'll see how long the journey is from Stamford back to NY. They could just put it on a Metro North commuter train and I could meet it at Grand Central but I guess the are rulez about an unaccompanied package taking up a seat.

    I love USPS logistics.

It uses a 12V/5A power supply, so no breakers will be harmed in the process. ;)

Charging each cell at 4.2V/3A requires 12.6W of power, 4 cells charging at the same time requires 50.4W. The 50.4W on the 12V supply side is only 4.2A. Add a some more mA for the efficiency of the circuit and other things.

The concern I have would be charging cells at 3A will drastically shorten the lifespan.

Not sure as to the makeup of that particular charger, but if it is intelligent, it should taper off the charge current towards the end of the cycle. My understanding is that lithium cells are happy with a fast charge up to around 60-70% of capacity, it is the last part (if extended) that can cause reduced life, overheating etc. If you've got one, you could always jerry-rig an ammeter to monitor the battery current as an experiment.

(I used to work for a number of electronics companies that products used rechargeable batteries. I was always impressed with the amount of thought and design that went into the charging circuitry, but this was for commercial applications, and a different battery technology, can't really comment on the more recent consumer stuff.)

Oops. You're right. My bad. I just saw the standard wall plug and jumped too far ahead. I have to stop posting before coffee. Still it is a lot for a battery to charge at. Rapid charging is great until the batteries feel toasty.

Edit: looked at the photo again. There is no wall plug in the Pic. I just plain screwed up with a false assumption and not bothering with math

Do we have to list all the stuff we didn’t buy, too? Actually that might be good therapy for me lol. And a way shorter list.
we don't but i had to. cathartic or some such (actually of no benefit whatsoever). it was the nice purple one too...
