Good morning shiny folks. I woke at 5 thought I was gonna sleep in. This sucks.

I have a window open cuz the husband had a fit yesterday. It is cold out there. Trying to get my thermostat to kick in. I'm still convinced it COMPLETELY doesn't work, I have never once gotten it to do anything on auto.

Cannot wait until we are in one place. And that he leaves frankly, so I can do what *I* want (I'm afraid I consider this MY place.

You know what, I can open that window in an hour or so. Or, never. I consider my e-vape floating in the air an IMPROVEMENT on the smell. Etc.}

He never comes here, I'd much rather go BACK. But now we know our rental options, kinda: poopy.

Morning fellow sufferers.

As the relative newbie around here (both in size of collection and vaping seniority), are there any topics we are not allowed to discuss on this thread? As I frequently open my mouth to change feet, best to be prepared. I have a vaping topic in mind, but it might be best placed elsewhere on ECF.

The last batch of diy ejuice I think has been the most successful yet. A couple of "meh's", with no unvapables, and my list of ADV's is growing rapidly. I've come to the conclusion a decent old fashioned custard is my major weak spot. Which has depressed me somewhat, as I have a lot of flavours in my stash. I'm determined though to get bakeries and fruits to join the party.

Tobacco's I'm really struggling with. I go absolutely crazy for the aroma of the flavours, and one or two recipes are indeed superb. I just can't translate them into an ADV. I went through most of a 100ml bottle of one (until it went rancid), but it was more a case of an occasional tank here, a dripper there, rather than an all out pig fest. IDK, some juices I just find too intense, even the commercial ones I really love I can't vape for more than a day on the trot, and have to switch.

I've also developed a really bad habit that my squonkers hate me for. Turning them into closet drippers. I'll start off with good intentions and fill the bottle with a juice I like, then get distracted by the samples I have on the go. It's downhill all the way from there.

My daughter would vehemently disagree :w00t:. That said, I think female cats are more stand-offish and independent than the male ones, all the male cats we've had I class as "Mewowlers". Very vocal in demanding attention. Now. This very second. The females seem quite happy, give them food, water and warmth and they ignore you 95% of the time.

When I first started DIY, I thought any juice I couldn’t vape all day until it was gone was a failure.

Some only taste good for a few hits. Some only work in a particular tank.

I try flavors in several devices, after all sorts of steep times, before I decide what’s good or bad.

And honestly, I think the beauty of squonking would be the ability to occasionally load a fresh flavor, just for a few hits.

I need at least three flavors a day. I put up all my devices at bedtime, except one, and by the time I’m halfway through my first coffee in the morning I have 3-6 of them in front of me.

Don't forget that SS wire will rise in resistance when it gets hot. A second after you hit the fire button your 0.4Ω coil will have risen to 0.6Ω or higher, so what you initially thought was a 44W vape is really now a 29W vape.

You might want to consider some N80 or Kanthal for the mech mod instead of stainless.

This is true, but lets keep in mind that as the SS coil is rising in resistance it’s temperature is somewhat being maintained, for lack of better words. With time, a N80 or Kanthal coil will rise in temperature at a greater rate given their current draw is more consistent. The longer we hold the fire button the hotter the coil gets – up to a certain extent. With SS this rise in temperature will be more uniform given the current draw lowers as its resistance rises.

The coils mass also plays a major role in this, so it is not as black and white as described above.

Good morning all! @Old Greybeard no topic seems to ever be a problem on this thread so as long as the auto censor doesn't object post away.

OK. With much trepidation ....

Name your worse vaping purchases and why.

My top 3:
  • 5GVape Freedom 22mm. Didn't realise this was more a MTL RDA with a tight AF. The squonk pin also was reverse threaded, so I effectively had to butcher it with mole grips to change it. In my spares pile as I'm concerned it is no longer safe (The pin just turns round and round now and the 510 screw thread is slightly dented as I mauled it prior to discovering its little "secret").
  • Hugsvape Ringlord. Looks good, airflow concept revolutionary. Taste, uninspiring. Coiling, painful. Could be a great RDA in the right hands, but have lost the will to experiment with it. Triumph of shiny over functionality.
  • Arctic Dolphin Anita. My first squonker. Bought it heavily discounted, but it hasn't got the same quality feel as the Topside or the Luxotic. Should have saved my pennies and bought something like the Ohmboy X Desire. It is still in use, but if and when it dies I won't have the same regret than if any of my other mods expire.
Not bad at all, considering 7 months of profligate Shinyitis.

I haven’t bought anything so bad it doesn’t work, but I wish I hadn’t gotten the Picos or the SL class. The Picos, although I was a huge eleaf fan ( tough little buggers, and so cheap!) and everyone seemed happy with them, but I dislike how flimsy they feel, the weird cap, and the shape. The SL is a PIA. Nice looking, now that I’m used to it, and nice in hand, but the menu is the worst. And that toggle switch... absolutely hate it.

I keep using it, thinking I’ll get used to it and I want to love it, but it’s pretty awful really. Way too expensive for it to be so frustrating. I could have gotten 3 Colossals instead. Oh well, lesson learned. Honestly I like the mini mi better than the mod!

Great topic!
1) Anything with drop in coils except the Supertank by Tobeco. Why? I hate being a slave to buying coils. It does not feel self-sufficient like rebuildables. Most of them do not give me the hit I get from rebuildables and they drink juice.
2) The Tesla Steam Punk Mod. (120 watt). I thought I liked the look. Sort of like that pair of shoes, they look good on the screen, they come in the mail and you go "what was I thinking". It has sat in the box of 'keep it just in case everything else breaks'
3) the many many (did I say many) juices bought in the first year of vaping because the description sounded good. Then I learned it was mostly creative writing that was taking me in and I also learned about DIY and realized there was only so much you could do to make a pineapple juice taste like a juicy pineapple. Whether I did it or some shop with a writing genius did it.
All and all I am pretty conservative with what I buy. As in I do not buy the newest trend thing. After the first two years, I learned what I liked and stayed close to that. Occasionally buy too much of what I like (Hex-Ohm, AsMODus Minikin, Tobeco Supertanks and all thing Taifun) but as long as I like them it feels like money in the bank because I never buy without a good deal. And I feel like I will be vaping for the rest of my life.

If a ginger cat is a female she is almost always very long haired and fluffy. I have yet to meet a short haired ginger cat that was female. Just like all Calico' s are female and have an attitude. Nothing like the attitude of the tortie's but still an attitude

My Dwarv DL v3 clone rta finally made it from FT. Chinese New Year had it hanging out with millions of package buddies. @Robfisher loves his OG so much I figured I’ll give the clone a try 1st.

I too am a fellow Pico Hater, like immensely so. I still don't understand why so many love them, mine always felt (in the hand) as if I could CRUMPLE them in my fist like if I didn't pay attention.

No offense pico lovers there are more for YOU. I wish I DID love them I'd buy ten and feel stashed forever, and it would be CHEAP. But, I'm unable to do it. Joytech appears determined to make a bunch of stuff I either hate, or destroy, but everyone else loves.

I do have an Evic 2.0 pro or whatever it's called, I like that mod quite a bit. It can be finicky at the 510 connection but AT LEAST it doesn't suck OTHEWISE.

LOL.

You guiiiseee.. I may be in trouble, so I need some input.

During the last weeks, I sold a good part of my equipment for a pretty penny to some local folks here, only leaving me with the devices that I really think I need or want; which isn't an awful lot. I even sold my Engine Nano because it bored me.

Now.. while I'm rather glad that I'm successfully fighting my urge to collect vaping-related things, I find myself desperately wanting 2 types of [combined] devices, which I believe could utterly cure me of wanting to buy any other equipment in the near future...

Nr.1 would be this:
TalentVape Ioo7 + Adven OWL
View attachment 798765View attachment 798767
The OWL is the only top-airflow tank I know of that was designed for taking TFV8 Baby coils. I so need this.

Nr.2 would be this:
HCigar Warwolf + QP Juggerknot
View attachment 798775 View attachment 798777
And this to satisfy my self-building urges (apart from my Wraith Squonk mod)

What do you think?

Mod from #2 paired with Atty from #1

or just get both setups
