Glad you have them up and running. I haven't had any seeping or leaking either in Crius using KGD or egyptian. No experience with the EXO, but know it is popular. Get a lot of fibers with egyptian cotton as well, not so much with KGD. Fatter coil will help a bit getting a tighter draw in Crius, might also help with the whistle.
I used to like Ni80 until I started using ss, now I'm not wanting to use anything else. Took me a couple of days to get used to the kanthal coil in the Fireluke. Will use ss when I get around to using the rba; actually pretty pleased with the drop in on my third week and wick is barely discolored. Impressive even at my lower watts.
The included coil is pretty fat...I think it's 2.5mm but don't quote me on that :) The larger diameter coil a good suggestion, and I'll try it out when I switch out the coil on the Crius II. :thumb:

I haven't used all the cotton variants, but I really like rayon. For me, it's an improvement over all the cotton variants I've tried.

@Letitia The Crius II is up and running. I'm currently using the included Ni80 coil, although I think that might be a mistake. Has anyone noticed a metallic taste to the vapor using Ni coils? This is my first and I'm noticing a distinctly metallic flavor. The AFC is better on the Crius II than my EXO (I'm now wondering if there is something wrong/missing on the EXO, but I'll have to go watch a tear down video and compare my own atty to it). Sadly, I like the draw to be a little tighter than DL, so my sweet spot on the AFC causes a whistle. I currently have it set a little looser than I would prefer to avoid the whistle.

So far, the flavor is far better on the EXO...however, I think I should try a SS coil in the Crius II before I declare that as a certainty (By the way, I'm using the same juice in both the Crius II and the EXO as a flavor control).

I also have not experienced any mystery seeping/oozing from the Crius II (yet ).

Notes about being a rayon wicking noob: 1) I feel like the world's worst barber trying to trim down the tails and keeping them even. 2) Lots of little fibers are floating through the air in my home after my meticulous marathon tail trimming sessions

I am obviously not @Letitia, but thought I would chime in here. I have been using Ni80 wire almost exclusively lately and get no metallic taste at from it. I still have a lot SS wire and will use both but I don't notice a difference in the flavor between the two. I do notice a difference with Kanthal.

Thank you for responding. I'm not sure what it is about this atty and flavor...I think the metallic taste is lessening, but now I'm not sure if I wish it to be true or maybe I'm getting used to it??? I plan on giving this coil a chance before I yank it and replace it.

I am comparing the flavor to an Ego One with a CLR coil, and frankly the Ego One is winning at the moment. So, that's disappointing.

I see more atty fiddling in my future :D

EEEK! Maybe you got a bad coil - was it the one that came with the Crius II? Sometimes wire has machine oil on it. What you are describing is not acceptable.

It is the coil that came with the Crius II. I washed that along with anything washable in the packaging, though, so I hope I was able to wash any oil off using dish soap.

Yeah, it's not great...but given your response along with Letitia, I suspect it is somehow user error. I made sure to mount the coil about 1 to 1.5mm directly above the airflow hole in the deck. I thought that would be ideal placement, but maybe not? I'll watch some videos and fiddle with it more later.

I doubt the position is causing the flavor issue. Did you rinse off all of the dish soap? ;) Maybe Ni80 isn't for you, so try an SS coil in there. The Crius II gives great flavor and you should enjoy the great flavor and not put up with off tasting vape.

I'm sure I rinsed it all well...so well, in fact, it took 2 days for the AFC to dry out

I'll replace the coil and try again. Tanks are never a plug and play item for me, I always run into a learning curve with them

Some are more sensitive to metals than others. Nothing wrong about it. I was fine with other wires before ss, just like the ss better for flavor.
Stoneface I place my coil so the bottom curve of coill is aligned with af. I've shut my af down to around 2/3 closed and getting no whistle. Believe my current coil is 3mm and probably a tricore fc I'll be wicking it soon and double check. Haven't used the Crius in about a week, too many rtas going and it will need a wash so I can change flavors.

Thank you :) I'm thinking I will replace this coil with SS tomorrow...hopefully that will solve my issue...and give me some barber practice in the process.

The day has come for @Walter_Sobchak to face his irrational fear of possums

That is funny! I did read earlier in this thread all the goings on with the opossums! Can I just say, our possums are completely different here. Yes they are marsupials as well but that seems to be all they have in common.
Koalas however.....
