Yeah I was wondering about her too. Please let us know you’re okay @stols001

This whole eBay thing is nuts. They’ll lose 90% of their trade, easy. I remember back before it was a thing though, I sold stuff and had to wait to get a money order in the mail, make sure it was good, and then send the item. Most often, before I ever got paid, the buyer was messaging me asking why his purchase was taking so long. And everyone went NUTS when papal was the only way to pay... I lost some customers over that.

I wonder why, now that everyone is cool with PayPal, they’re doing away with it (other than that they sold it) and why they won’t at least go back to allowing sellers to accept money orders.

Yep...not sure about the Ebay thing but you can bet your life that it is financially related :)

I remember those days....I had a friend that used to buy for his antique bottles collection and he never got ripped off. As you say it was just a case of making sure funds had cleared...and there were lots of disputes but not to those in the know :)

Well there were a lot of fake money order scams back then... but as long as you made sure your bank cleared it you were okay. Out of hundreds of auctions, I got one bad MO, and the bank caught it so that guy never got his item lol. I used to even take personal checks because a lot of my audience was little old men who still paid by check.

Can’t wait to see how they solve this situation. I might want to sell whatever I have laying around before the cut off date.

Could be eBay is trying to lower their profile. By controlling both most of the trading in the US for auction (and now outright buy) owning the main payment system might attract the kind of attention Google and FB are now getting for dominating their segnrnts(or maybe they already are). By allowing third party payments they avoid any question of limiting competition in the marketplace.

You may be right. I tried to read an article about why they sold it, but tbh it was over my head. Still, just because eBay no longer owns it is no reason not to allow users to pay that way, other sites use it, and I feel safer paying that way, as I’m sure others do as well.

Just interested in seeing how this link your bank account thing pans out for them. I think it’ll be a flop, but who knows...

Today???? I just ordered stuff over the weekend. Good thing because now I have to either enter a credit card or link them to my bank account like PayPal. Went to buy some small 10mls bottles and up pops a notification.

PayPal is one thing but now EBay? I suppose I’ll use a credit card but paying thru PayPal was easy and I didn’t have to use a credit card.
you have to click the Paypal button before you go to the page to pay. Happened to me to and I thought I had to either pay via my bank account or credit card.

Well that sucks. I don't know that I would trust ebay without pp.

Well I won’t be buying anything on EBay that’s not payable thru PayPal. PayPal has been awesome when I got hacked and for disputes. I feel pretty secure using them.

When I was around 12 I used to skip school and do web design so I could get some spending money.

Because I was under 18 I had to get my dad set up a paypal account and used his. Because I wouldn't deposit the money into my account I would just spend whatever balance I had.

I had a big project one time and spent the money on eBay. The guy who comissioned the project charged back after I had spent the money and my paypal went into the negative. I was scared and didn't say anything, eventually collectors called my Dad and I ate the bottom of his flip flop a couple times.

I realize it's not eBay's fault, but since then it's put the fear of eBay into me.

I only had an issue early on, where someone tried to take their money back. I disputed it, because I had the tracking number for the item. And now, it’s set up where buyers have to open a dispute through eBay- or PayPal, if it’s not an eBay sale. I mean if there’s a way to scam, certain people will find it though.

As an eBay seller I was forced to set up with PayPal, who needed everything but my first born child to open an account with them..

I'm not doing that again with a different company, and I'm not giving all my information to a foreign company to boot - I'm just not.

When PayPal goes from eBay, I go also.

@Letitia – they are soooo adorable!

As mentioned earlier, Zelda’s birthday was last week. Decided to skip on the fried chicken but she did get a healthy serving of bacon. Right after her feast, she plopped down on a area rug, stretched out on her back exposing her spotted belly and started to Purreak – this is when she purrs so hard she squeaks. I took that as a sign she enjoyed her dinner!

Last night she stole my phone for a evil genius looking selfie, posing on top of her kitty castle!
