this area takes many by surprise because New York is so often associated with a concrete jungle but I live over 5 hours away from that. This is actually one of the largest conglomerations of water in the world. There's over 30,000 miles of rivers and streams. Paddlers paradise and despite being small compared to the west, our mountains are no joke either. It's also larger than any National Park outside of Alaska and maybe Hawaii: 6 million + acres. The Fall is the best, or the winter if you prefer to see another planet. The lakes become desert-esque in a weird way. The trees pop and explode. It's crazy
