You'll be surprised at how nice it feels in the hand. They're machined from a solid block of Delrin and then buffed to give them that soft texture. The material does feel cool to the touch when it's not in use and it's fairly dense, so I can totally see how you might mistake it for metal on a quick glance.
I'm still ticked off that I already have all the colors but the one they're out of. $20 is such a great deal but it makes no sense for me to buy another one just to have two of the same color. Pfft.
Just got home after my daughter’s big opening event I’ve been helping her with the last few days. Fortunately it was a solid success and it looks like she made enough sales to recoup the investment. I’m relieved at breaking even on this deal. The show runs another two weeks so additional sales will actually be profit. A major sigh of relief.
I took a closer look now that I had time and you’re right, it’s an amazingly well finished Delrin. Never seen anything finished like it, with the polishing they did and the light weight combined with feeling solid and rigid, my first impression was aluminum. But this finish work in the Delrin is amazing and makes me even happier as it should last a long time. I’m very happy with my purchase, love the case they present it in, gave the bottle its bath, and next deciding on what to put on top and fill it with. Now I wish I got more than one.
On kid’s cars, after my daughter figured out how not to support the body shop I got her a Ford Fusion for college. She started school in 2013, and it was a 2011 (I think) with 20K on it in excellent condition. The only time it visited the car wash and got an oil change was when dad was in town. Mind you this is a kid who is generally meticulous, but the interior always looked like a bomb went off with clothing, wrappers, flip flops, and god knows what else scattered in it. But it was hers, and if that’s how she wanted to live it was her problem, but at least I kept the outside clean and the mechanicals in working order. She graduated in 2017 and moving back to nyc so we sold it with just another 15k on the mileage. Got most of the money out of it, and it was a perfect first real car. And no dents it dings outside of a hailstorm that needed roof repair. Can’t blame that one on her. Now she’s car free and just borrows mom’s car if she needs one for the day. Way better solution. Keeping a car in NY is a major luxury she can live without until it’s on her dime. Uber is way less hassle and way cheaper compared to a car here.
