... appreciate making sure i know the basics.

i was asking if there's some health issues i should know about the material. everyone has a tendency to downplay negative stuff here because we're all used to being on the defense.

o_OHEY!! my coils alone! i already got out-consumered on my colour choice of the tank! [thanks for the reassurance:thumbs:]

tasteful setup. enjoy!

i do not need another mod i do not need another mod i do not need an asmodus mod i already have two new mod i do not need a pretty new mod:drool:
Thanks:) Not sure about health issues with heating NI80 past a certain temperature. Somebody else may be able to help with that one.

I'm hearing really good things about the Elder Dragon RDA. It seems like it might be suitable and I found it for a good price but didn't I hear just a little while ago something about My Freedom Smokes having some kind of issue.. if anyone can give me a heads up on how they are as a company I would love to know. I mean it's an RDA it's not a mod so not real worried about a warranty so long as they can get me the product & it's the right one

oooooh i got a user! thanks for quick response

questions:

a reviewer said : "On the minus side, they gunk up fairly quickly - used exclusively I don't think I'd get a week out of them, and being N80 I don't like to dry burn so they're single use, but at this price who cares? I don't know what to do with the cotton though - it's probably a Muji type so I certainly won't be using it for vaping."

have you used the cotton alright? (and what is the Muji cotton referred to? if anyone here can shed light)

also what is dry-burning N80 contra-indicated? should i even glow it? i was told it's as safe as kanthal_ no?
I don't know what they're on about regarding Muji cotton I use it it's one of the easiest for me to use and I can't tell any flavor on it other than the flavor of my juice and I am very picky in terms of flavor with like off flavors. I noticed things all the time that my husband is like what in the heck are you talking about same with everyone I know. They act like I'm hallucinating a flavor LOL.

I think you also asked something about nichrome I don't use it just because I don't have any once I get some I will use it. I'm not entirely certain what the issue with nichrome is that people talk about but I think it has something to do with the lower melting point. I don't think you're going to encounter that unless you're going to sit in a furnace while you vape. Maybe a crematorium.

I've used MFS about 4y and no problems. They have one of the better rewards programs but the site is a bit dated. Generally have competitive coil prices but newer products without a coupon are a bit high.

That's where I got mine with no problems. It came quickly. I don't usually like single coil RDAs but I got the Elder Dragon for the Luna I just bought. It is really a good match. Not my favorite by any means but it's nice.

Colossal folks. How do you get the little lock (corner bottom of the screen) off.

Press fire button briefly, and it'll lock again.

thanks for remembering the earlier, more important question.

something rang a bell there... i've have convinced my ol' lass she's colour blind myself.

tried a-duckduckgoing it. found older discussions, which apparently the community has passed beoynd. most recent one from 2017 from here actually, Vaping Ni80 metallic taste
    it's got familiar stars.
but abroad there was some confusion, one even saying you should only use ni200, another saying that ni80 only works in TC... etcetcetc
worries abt bryburning and cleaning and reusing and etc etc etc.
    i need to sleep

I tried a 2.5 mm alien but went back to a 3mm. Better flavour imo

good to know. thank YOU! i guess i can just skip using two from the set.

    I did through the site.

I just got an email from them saying they are kinda sorta closed for the holidays. But someone will be trying to get orders out in 2-3 days. So if it takes a while to get a reply, its because probably only one guy, part time, is working.

You can dry burn ni80 safely, as far as I'm aware. I've been doing it for 6 months ;)

Just lightly pulse it, minus wick, at a low wattage. Dry brush off the crap, and rinse. The downside to using coils like claptons is it is harder to get them clean, compared to plain round wire, but a wire brush helps that.

I'd also grab a reel of 26ga round wire from somewhere - either Ni80 (nichrome) or kanthal, like this:
    https://www.fasttech.com/p/2675000
You will find wrapping a simple coil a lot easier than you think. This way you can try different combinations of wraps and diameters, to figure out what works best for you.

26ga or 26 awg as it may be called, is thin enough to heat quickly at 20 - 40 watts, but is also thick enough to be easy to install into the Elevate RTA.

I did manage to install a 2.5mm id 28ga coil into the Elevate. But it took sheer determination, and the result looked like crap ;) The post holes are just too big for wire that thin. 26ga and above, goes in easily

good to know. thank YOU! i guess i can just skip using two from the set.

N80 and Ni200 are totally different beasts. One is just Nickel (we’ll not just, but a much higher percentage), it’s used in TC mode only to keep it from getting too hot and emitting toxic metallic fumes (theoretically, but why take the chance). N80 is fine for dry burning, does not work in TC on any mod currently on the market that offers TC (it’s like Kanthal in that sense).

As to taste, well, you can try Kanthal, Nichrome, and SS coils and see if you notice a difference. BTW, there’s nothing wrong with Kanthal, it works well and is long lasting with regular cleaning and dry burning. It cannot be used for TC on anything currently on the market (there was a mod that claimed to do TC with Kanthal but it was an entirely different approach toTC than the one in use today).

As to Muji cotton, it’s just another brand of Japanese organic cotton like KGD. I’m using it right now and it wicks and vapes fine. Your best bet starting out with building is to keep it simple, see what works and doesn’t work for your preference, and work your way forward from there.

On another note, @classwife any follow up on that broken Luna? Did SM or Asmodus make things whole for you?

Vape Mail arrived with the Gold Revenger X. I’m not really that into gold but I have every other color Revenger X for under $30 -so why not.

plus the replacement Kelpie. The original one has a loose top cap.

To all the Shiny Aussie DIY's out there:thumbs:
If anyone is in need of some flavour concentrates I have a $25 coupon from an Australian website called Flavourworld. I've ordered from them before but won't need to be anymore so I'm not going to use the coupon code.
They have some pretty good concentrates including FA, FW, TFA, CAP and many more.
Have a look at this site: Discounted Flavour Concentrates | Flavour World | Afterpay and if anyone is interested please let me know.

Sorry to overseas Shinys, but they only ship within Australia:(

Thanks for any interest but the code has is gone.
A little Piggy just snapped it up;)
