i'm going to be willing to chuck up a 100 per coil if this keeps going_ i started a fight and two make-your-own sermons in my other thread
Not too worry, you won't be given any more sermons from me.

When you make your own coils you have some control over the quality of the wire as opposed to some sketchy wire out of China...

Enjoy your quest.

They are so beautiful polished up. Unfortunately they don't stay that way very long.
True that. That's why I posted a photo from when I first got them in July fresh out of the packaging. If I took a photo today you would see that much more lived in look, which pleases me most.

Kind of like my v1 King...

I sell my Killer coils for $25 for 6 coils shipped. That's a modest price for hand wound coils.
Wow, I didn't know custom coils cost so much. I'll stick to round wire, maybe flat wire. There are some beautiful coils out there, but I don't see myself paying that for a consumable item.

Actually I did take that completely apart periodically to clean well...

That's likely what I consider most annoying about newer RTA's, that you can't break them down as much as you can something like a Kayfun - but certainly no one has to break down any RTA if they feel it wouldn't be necessary...

I just personally went through every couple months for a thorough cleaning...personal preference I guess. :)
Cool. You're a clean freak! That's good. :) Now you've given me an RBA cleaning complex. I clean mine pretty darn thoroughly, just not that thoroughly, but they are very clean... and shiny too! Ok, not under every nook and cranny... o-ring and screw. Haha, does ultrasonic cleaning count with taking most of the main sections apart? I do recall you saying new socks even get washed before use. ;)

for prebuilts it's the same advice repeated, don't go fancy focus on mass and AVS is good... most are about wrapping your own

Haha ... just buy some wire already and DO it!!! No need to cruisecreepnstalk.

If you figure $7 of the $25 is shipping it comes out to $3 a coil. Alot of builders will sell for $15 a pair before shipping. With that being said I have RDAs that have coils that are over a year old just being cleaned and rewicked. A YouTube reviewer friend of mine has the original set I ever sent him in an RTA that is close to 2 years old.

That's funny. When I got mine (1 copper 1 brass) I took out the brass one and I use it. The copper one is still sealed in the box. I'm scared to touch it. LOL!

@Skunk! posted a real good photo of his well used Rose Finches recently. Very cool looking too. I can't remember what thread that was. Maybe he'll repost that one.
