I forgot to mention. Always remove the glass first. Getting a glass splinter in your foot is just one straw too much.

I had a weird one yesterday: my new Passage RDA was ok for a little while then I started getting a bitter, metallic taste in the vape. I took the build apart, new coils (changed from KA1 to Ni80), changed my brand of cotton and it still happened. Ok I thought - it's gotta be something in the squonk bottle so I changed mods and it kept happening. Ok so maybe there's some residual machine oil that didn't come off in my first wash of the atty. Took it apart, washed and soaked it, dried it off, built again and still got this nasty taste.
Then a thought hit me that maybe it was the material in the drip tip. It's that ag+ plastic that Dovpo advertise as being anti-bacterial. So I changed drip tips and it's been great ever since.
Anybody noticed this bitter taste with ag+ drip tips or am I going mad?

Thanks, @AngeNZ. I ordered the iron gray but when I saw yours I knew I'd prefer it. Got nervous about the window closing on being able to change the color and so arranged to make the switch before you answered, so I'm very relieved to know I chose right.Morning shinies
I got the SS version. I was worried it was gonna be a goldy silver, but it's just normal ss and the same shade as my attys.

Clapton will crackle and pop regardless. I'd go for slightly less cotton in the coil, and see if that fixes the dryness. Then work on the spitting, once you are getting a decent moist vape. Use the least complicated coil you have too, which will probably be the wotofo one.

thanks. is that a thing? coz i sort of started figuring the wick was fine everywhere except inside the coil it was too much. either way that build is long gone...
now i've got what you're describing as the less complicated.. one of the coiloloyg fused claptons (i think_ there's four on the desk). so the vape isnt dry now finally, but it's shooting liquid into my lungs.
what now? how do ppl juggernauts and braideds if it crackles all the time?
oh_ it's a tricorefusedclapt. btw the resistance reading is really weird on the coilolgy stuff. at first it's way way under... one came under .1! after burning it's closer.

Squonking with it is easy, it only needs a slight finger press. I refilled the bottle using the slide port no problem again. It's menu system is basic, but works. Once I'm done adjusting I lock the + & - buttons.
It's TC is just as good as arctic fox firmware, the Asmodus Colossal, and Vaporesso's omni 4 chip.And it is tiny: 79mm x 43mm x 25mm
It only needs to compete against my pico squeeze 2 in the regulated category - and the Kudos wins easily
You can have not enough cotton and get dry hits and simultaneously have too much in the coil if the ID of the coil isn’t optimal for the atty. that’s not easy to do, but it can happen.
But also, could be you need to comb the tails out better and or raise the power a bit. There are a lot of variables, and you need to solve one problem at a time - dry hit first - by eliminating all the likely causes one by one.
Mine must crackle and pop all the time depending on the coils I use, I don't care, I'm totally deaf, if it works it works is my take on things
A lot of people just use the simpler builds, because of spitting, or that they need too much power to ramp up properly.
Just be careful you don't have a short. I'd rewick your next coil by watching the video, and mimicking every little thing he does:
