I don't do any social media (apart from ecf)- that's not why I like a smartphone.Last August I bought an iPhone and after 5 months I would never go back. It is very nice having a computer in the pocket
I love having a high quality camera in my pocket.
Also use the maps feature often- extremely handy in a huge city like Sydney - traffic jams easily avoided.
Do my banking on my phone.
Listen to the radio on my phone.
Check weather on my phone.
Fact check a whole array of stuff incl Ohm's law calculations on my phone (Vapetool app).
Emails on my phone.
Also smartphones are so much better for sms. In my world most people start conversations with txt then move on to an agreed phone call if needed. I miss the old days of just talking on the phone but if I wanted to stay connected I realized I had to move with the times.
One thing I hate about smartphones is the "free app" concept. Obviously nothing is free, they are just accumulating huge amounts of data about us.
My way around that is that I download an app when I need it and immediately uninstall when I've finished using it. I also check all the fine print on permissions with any app before I install and if I see it needs access to my browser history or contacts in order to operate, I don't install it.
